BREAK FROM OMAHA (with bonus MTT stuff!)
  TwistedEcho, Dec 23 2007

Just as i start my blog, i decided to take a small omaha break and play holdem, lolz. I'm sick lazy and never play enough hands. I think i've played like 11k hands in the last two weeks.

Queue brags!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/339043 - 4outs is plenty.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/339045 - if you are going to be a boring tag, play less faceup plz!

reaaally need to play more.

I played about 10k hands of omaha this month, and about 5k holdem on my laptop, but it seems my laptop ate all my HHs and corrupted them (FU VISTA). I dunno if im going to get rid of vista or not, its pretty but it keeps fucking up poker related stuff which is the reason i bought it.

Also, having a laptop makes me even more lazy since i dont get out of bed if its cold, and just use the laptop!

So anyway, since i didn't bother posting anything useful about omaha really, i'm going to update my sunday mtts if i play. I'm travelling home today (1hr on train) so assume i get home in time i shall play the $215 warmup on stars, $215 sunday million on stars, $256 BOUNTY FTP warmup, and the normal $216 on FTP too.

I will try to post any/all interesting hands as the sunday progresses and possibly get some useful content in this blog...

maybe...

Omaha Day 2
  TwistedEcho, Dec 14 2007

Took a few days off playing, went to student poker society and got ridic drunk with SneakrFreakr who is a cool guy - he hasn't leart that bluffing me off a pair doesn't work either, so his cashgame antics paid for most of my drinking.

Anyway, played a bit the next day, but for some reason my laptop hates me (i suspect its vista) and while pokertracker works, often the hands corrupt and the stacksizes and board etc still shows in PT, but when i click on the hand i can't get the actual hand to display, its just a blank popup. So, basically anything i play on my laptop i don't think i'll be able to blog easily.

Today played some holdem since i wanted a break, played 1305 hands (yes im lazy) up 1549 - mostly at 1/2 and a few hands at 5/10 cause i chased the most ridic fish ever who had 5k when i found him, but sadly managed to donk most of it off before i could get there, and only won like $350 off him before he left and table broke.

My friend neil (zealeo on here) was taking a shot at one tabling 200FR after i'd finished my session of holdem and was about to stop playing (then i found the 5/10 fish and had to wait for the waitlist). I figured while i was waiting to get on the table i would try to donk neil and outplay him, but we decided FR was boring, and he joined two 6max PLO 50c/$1 tables.

Few hands from 100PLO while messing around

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336882 - standard TRIFLIP, pretty equal % all the way
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336883 - bluff hoping he can actually fold!

So anyway, while playing we realise that 888hans is playing 90/10/1 and really awful, and he had like $300 when we sat and nothing pretty fast. I searched him and found him at a 1/2plo table, along with maybe my fav PLO fish, raisemaster who had $1500.

Obviously i had to sit since 888hans was attempting to give away his money, and raisemaster is a spewy moron. So we played a few hands, and han proceeded to drop $917 at 1/2 after dropping 300 at 50c/1. Hope he isn't busto.

Anyway, some hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336886 - this one kinda sucked since i was 99% sure goran had a set or some huuugeass wrap since hes a horrible nit, but w/ 888hans overcalling (hes such dead money) i think i have to get it in here esp w/ the gutshot. Sadly i have 3diamonds, but as suspected i get in as a 36% 3ways, and 888hans is 9% lolz

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336889 - unsure why i didn't pot every street, guess my betpot button was broken or sth. On the river i had no idea what to bet to get bettorman to call since hes such a sick nit, i figured 2/3 of pot should do

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336891 - han the hero gives me more money

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336893 - this one i didnt plan to fold ever, turn probably cost me some action.

******************************************************

AND NOW FOR HOTD BY ZEALEO

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336873 - playing 200PLO with a 2k roll, AND killing the fish. Such heroics win HOTD!

******************************************************

Now for the few hands i actually lost (it was hard to lose any since han was so bad, and rest of table were sick nits who played face up and just limped lots)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336895 - no clue why he just called flop, but i think i have to call turn, esp since there is a remote chance he has some random bluff or two pair, but i was pretty sure he had KKK in whichcase as long as he doesn't have hearts i have enough outs to call.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/336896 - reallly can't work out if i hate this one or not, he was raising preflop like every hand, but most of the time after just check called and did random donk stuff. I guess he bets AQ and prob AT the same, i just was fairly convinced i was beat on the turn, but he was so bad i figured i'd call down.

So, graph time (not posting any holdem hands since no fun ones, and this is an omaha blog!)

unsure what im going to play over the weekend, probably a mix of tournaments plo and holdem.

Omaha Day 1
  TwistedEcho, Dec 11 2007

I guess i'll attempt to keep to some sort of routine for my blog posts, so will generally start with hands i win, then hands i lose and then a nice swingy graph. If people ask me questions i will attempt to answer then in separate blogposts if i feel i have lots to say about whatever, otherwise i'll just randomly respond somewhere.

Also, when i play omaha i try to only play 6 tables, but often i waitlist every table, and by the time i'm sitting on 6 a few good ones will popup with spewy losers, so i'll end up playing more than i should really. I also try to only play small sessions because it can get draining looking at so many cards/flops and working out what the hell i have.

So anyway, onto todays hands.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334402 - Standard call preflop basically to setmine. Big pairs are ok in certain spots, but in general they are good for making sets. Flop depends often on who the PFR is, and the texture as to whether you donkbet or checkraise. In this hand the PFR was pretty bad and kinda short, so i expected him to bet most of the time. Luckily attackkina was on tilt it appears and decided to give me money.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334403 - a nice hand preflop, i pretty much never check here since people will often put you on aces if you raise preflop OOP, and also i want to build a pot. I have no problem just check folding if i get many callers and the flop is like KQ7dd, i'd fire most dry Ahi boards though. I don't really expect the limper to ever limp fold here preflop being 150bb deep, and sb prob will come along with most holdings. Obviously a solid flop here, with no flushdraws possible i want to try to build a pot and as you can see against something like a gutshot and top set im only 43% so it will be hard to get my money in horrible here

pokenum -o kd kh 5d 2d - 5s 6c 7c 8s -- kc 6d 4s
Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing 4s Kc 6d
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Kd 5d 2d Kh 464 56.59 356 43.41 0 0.00 0.566
8s 5s 7c 6c 356 43.41 464 56.59 0 0.00 0.434

Lucky for me i make the nuts on the turn, and i don't think my opponent is going to check a FH on the river that often, the only hand im worried about now really is K6 and i think he'd probably lead that. Luckily no one thinks i ever have anything, and he pays me off.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334410 - marginal call preflop, but PFR is bad. Hes bad enough to probably stack off with aces on the flop, so i raise for value, also no flushdraws is good for my hand (but narrows my range). Turn i figured reksio folds lots of his range if i bet again and doesn't draw, but will probably pay me off if he hits on the river. I luckbox and he does make his hand.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334411 - This one is a fairly standard open even UTG, when hotblonde repops she has AAxx almost always, so i'm basically calling to flop something to crack aces. I flop a pretty bad flop with only the one pair but have to call getting insane odds, and with the board being fairly dry i expect ide1 to fold here lots (you could argue for isolating hotblonde here). The turn i pickup a ton of outs, and have decent equity vs AAxx which im still assuming blonde has, so want to make ide1 fold (and if i check he might push a hand that beats me like a weak 2p or JJ which he will often fold to my turn push). I don't like how he played the hand, and pokergods reward me with a river.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334416 - something i have been trying lately is playing the really bad aces slower preflop. If i raise at any point preflop after limping i make my hand fairly obvious, and stigberg is deep. Obviously postflop is really standard.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334417 - standard raise pre, flop the nuts and just keep betting. No reason to slowplay 99% of the time in omaha.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334419 - if you can get allin preflop with aces, do so! Opponent seemed spewy and on tilt.

Getting bored of posting info about every hand, so heres a few other biggish pots i won.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334422
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334423
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334424

Now for the losing hands

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334425 - again here i coldcall preflop with horrible aces because we are deep, but when the SB raises hes pretty insane, and i figure i can get enough of my stack in here preflop profitably. Maybe preflop should just be a call, im not too sure. I run bad vs his aces though.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334426 - this one i have no idea if i played it badly, but milkman was borderline retarded, so i figured i had decent enough equity to get it in here, even if coai has a bigger set lots (not many people slowplay so AAA was my main worry). Guess i got trapped.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334427 - was pretty sure he had aces, so decided to try to make him fold. Got commited on the turn, oh well this spot is so +EV for me if hes never folding here since most of the time he will be behind by a fair bit.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334428 - this guy is a losing reg, didn't expect him to checkraise the river, and don't really like it. Prob always beat here but $65 for the chance hes doing sth retarded and info is worth it i think.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334429 - this one i was on sick tilt and decided to give away some money

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334431 - standard mixing it up with donkbetting sets and checkraising, he had a pretty big hand too

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334434 - i almost always fold here preflop, but stigsberg was on sick tilt and wanted to get allin preflop every hand, so i couldnt really!

A few more random losing hands.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334435
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334436
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334438 - failed bluff catcher!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/334439

And now for the graph!

So, no idea if im going to write this much everyday or just post random big win/loss hands and graphs - we shall see how bored i get.

Omaha!!!! (lots of flipping and 4 card fun!)
  TwistedEcho, Dec 11 2007

So i haven't ever bothered with a blog because im generally lazy and get bored within a week (donktheturn and vegas blogs both didn't last too long!)

However, recently i have been playing a ton of omaha mostly at 1/2 on stars, and trying to play more 2/4 but seemingly getting destroyed everytime i move up, although i seem to get my money in ahead most of the time.

I don't really know how much useful stuff i can post about omaha because im still experimenting a ton with ranges and equity postflop, but i basically had a pretty lame run in mtts this year and after wcoop felt like trying to learn omaha. I watched several PLO videos on cardrunners (stingers ones were the best imo) and then just played lots and tried to see what happened.

So since i just mass post hands here anyway, partly to show friends and partly to check odds etc, i figured i might as well start an actual blog (inspired by frozenarbiters blog too!) and if people read it awesome, otherwise i'm sure i'll get bored and stop posting soon (fwiw a few people have asked for omaha coaching, i don't feel happy to coach omaha but feel free to post random Qs about hands or in general in the comments session and i'll try to answer it as best as possible.
