NL25 Again
  LemOn[5thF], Jun 01 2009

So I tried to return to NL25 Today and it went good. I was even above EV, which is surreal really.

The changes
As you can see above, I abandoned my attempts to play LAG at NL25.

It was just too much variance and people are much bigger stations than I ever acknowledged.
I will cut back on Cbets a little bit, and prefer to have at least some gutshot when attempting them, or a very obvious board. I will not double barrel without at least 8 outs.

I cut tables to 6, raise 4BB+XBB again and apply brutal table-selecting methods (45tables in 3 hours total today-one fish minimum).

From now on, I am also completely Ignoring Results and judge a hand only by my line and EV prior to shoves.

You will not see me posting results unless I want to brag.

Life and Stuff
I am moving in with my girlfriend on Friday for the first time. We got ourselves a nice £430 per month flat.

Fairly big Bedroom, open plan Kitchen/lounge and a friendly private landlord, meaning no fees or extensive paper work.

Looking forward to it really, my life was such a mess when I was living alone past 3 years.

I still don't have the intern ship so my main goal after I move will be finding a job.

I also hope to achieve Supernova before I get it, as poker is much more pleasant when you have a decent rakeback and you have those sexy red stars at NL25.

LemOn out.

P.S.

NL10: A Winning Session!
  LemOn[5thF], May 28 2009

I can't believe it! A first long winning session in 50K hands.

Ye, I was losing at NL5,NL2 (thank you LP luckboxes, you know who I am talking about),NL10,NL25 and the closest I got to a winning session was the 300 hand one n my previous blog post.

NL10 really amuses me. I crashed and burned so many times before I realised that people are simply not folding their middle pair, no matter how hard I represent the overcard/superobvious flushes etc.

I still can't resist sometimes like here:

I LOL'd : (read chat)

One EPIC SOULREAD:
+ Show Spoiler +

Results:

Look at my number of sessions. Some serious table selecting was happening ;o

I only raise Broadway+Pairs+throw in some SC CO and Button.

I have limped as much as never in my life with AXs kind of hands, and with low sc too-no point in raising, high card value is what NL10 is all about, and people pay me off in limped pots (this is the first time since FR where I limp drawing hands, as NL5 is 200bb)

Non-SD: My Naivety cost me a couple BI. There really is no point in going beyond C/Bet without at least 8 outs

Winnings:

This limit is interesting, I have never really played it and at least I know what I missed- TPTK ship it ;o

And as I play for happy meal money again, I also had a lot of fun experimenting with gay lines (you know, minraising minbets and minraises, cc/cc/c shove lines etc.)

I might actually hang around NL10 for some time, until I have at least 80% of my session winning ones again.
The Doomswitch had punched big holes in my confidence and I couldn't avoid being results oriented (which I never was before) after another session's hard work was wiped out by suckouts/coolers.

BR Now: $760

Wish me luck ;o

Making Sessions Shorter

One Epic Soulread by a Fish:

-And example of my Table Talk Strategy: Offensive towards non-LP regs, friendy with the fishes.

Laughing at nitty regulars makes them play back at me and try some funny stuff a lot+many of them become tilted.

With High VP fishes its obviously a friendly atmosphere most of the time. They came to have a good time, and I usually have a good time too by chatting with them and playing loads of pots with them.. We have fun, I have their money and everyone leaves happy

PURGEEEE
  LemOn[5thF], May 20 2009

I think I have to do this. Smething has to turn the doom-switch OFF. I am PURGING MY MONTH OF MAY.

The heater, the doomswitch and the huge slide down never happened. It was just a dream. An illusion.

In Fact, I have never played NL25, I just happened to open an account today and had my VIP level increased miraculously.

Wish me luck at the new Limit People!

Misson Accomplished
  LemOn[5thF], May 20 2009

Thats rigtht bitches, Lemon made 7,500 VPP in 20 days at NL25

Today I just wanted to get it over with, so I had a 18 tabling SH session to grind the last few hundred VPP.Obviously my AK got busted 4 times as usual and AA once+ I made some retarded spews in the morning (I shouldn't play in the morning no more when I play LAG ;o)) so my BR is at 1k now.

Platinum Star-> 80,000 Free VPP At the end of the month -> 10,000 VPP until Supernova after that.

One thing to say: Fuck you Pokerstars for making this promo. It forced me to mass table robot pokerz and my personal progress completely stalled. I did expect this when I started multitabling 20 days ago though.

Now I stick back to my original plan when I moved from NL5- 4Table LAG where possible with only occassional multitabling spells if the Doomswitch will be turned into off position although it doesn't seem like it just yet.

I got exams coming up tomorrow (Behavioral Issues in Finance) and Tuesday (Economics of Transition), after that Its all looking for a new flat, a Year internship job and of course some serious Pokerz which I will play practically full time until I find the job.

God Speed ;o

My session
  LemOn[5thF], May 18 2009

I feel great about today's session. At first I started as normal-Solid ABC Poker 4BB+XBB raises, but I soon realised that the downswing is far from over

The usual stuff:

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

One Spew at the end (should have taken the free card on turn and avoid all-in situations at all costs)
+ Show Spoiler +

And one funny hand
+ Show Spoiler +

So all and all, I figured out that how to win- I simply must avoid showdowns and battle the small pots ;o

So I reverted to good old 3BB+XBB with 40-50% Steal and 11% 3Bet on most my tables and it felt great! Despite the one spew and continuing suckouts I managed to actually be up since I made the switch

I am going to keep this up, play many small pots and the results will hopefully follow-this downswing can't last forever.

My Game EP2: Call PFR
  LemOn[5thF], May 17 2009

Welcome to Episode two, Call PFR has been bringing me profits in the past, but last 10 days the graph looks like this:

How come I was making profits before and suddenly half of my loses are from call PFR?

+ Show Spoiler +

A big chunk of this will account on the setup differences, as you can see in much lower profits from 3 of a kind and flushes.
Some money can be leaking from High card, although I expect it to be because of missed draws mostly.
So what we will be our main focus will be the ever killing one pair hands when called PFR.

Section A: Pocket Pairs
The Graph:

Small Pocket Pairs 22-99
+ Show Spoiler +

I WAS NOT SET-MINING PROFITABLY!

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

The General Pattern: I overplay Small PP!
I was laughing at regs who call $4.30 3Bets with 77 and I do practically the same!

I am way too aggressive since I am without initiative most of the time and I try to make hero plays when I can pickup only few reads since I am often OOP and not the Preflop Aggressor.

I must play small PP WAY more passively when I call PFR!

Large Pairs

+ Show Spoiler +

General Pattern: I was playing large pairs too passively, especially QQ.

With the Jacks and Tens... I seemed to run into AA KK like always so the pot control approach was good result wise, but I still think that keeping these hands in 3bet ranges is better for me.

Broadway minus Large Pairs

Lately I have been seeing the opinion of calling Broadway cards pre is good if you will only isolate yourself with a better range when 3betting. So I have been trying to call here and there

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

Very obvious pattern: Calling PF Sucks, and especially I suck at playing like that as I almost never know where I am at, and its problematic calling bet bet shove with KQ or AJ kind of a hand.

The Obvious solution: Go back to the style I have been applying successfully for many hands before: 3Bet.

These spots are so ugly and its so hard to guess exact ranges at micros that 3Betting a ton and forcing villains to adjust or just surrender their PF raise amount is a way to go.
Pissing off the regs and forcing them to adjust to my 3bbet and playing with fishes, therefore be ahead most of the time with these hands was proven to work for me, winrate and table image wise and it is time to go back and start calling with broadway hands when I get to higher limits and can guess range even when being passive PF.

What To improve:
-Play WAY more passively with low pocket pairs when I miss
-Call less PF, 3bet more with Broadway hands.
-Play aggressive poker again, especially with QQ, JJ.
-More Bet/Fold lines, way less C/Call lines

End Note: I am a creative person, a Monkey at heart. I have the edge over 95% of my limits, but only when I do what I know best- Apply huge amount of pressure, annoy people and force them to make mistakes.

This downswing has pushed me more towards peacefull Hippie poker, which I have never been applying before and....I suck at it. Its time to start utilising my competitive advantage, to focus at what I know best and to wake up my manliness and leave Calling PF without passive set mining to others.
