From Zero to Hero
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 09 2009

Made a couple of terribad plays(see below) today when I returned to NL25 after some NL10 rampage.
These were not tilt plays however, which makes me very very happy. I tilted out only 3 BI last 7 days which really fills me up with joy and hope.

These hands are an example of the second biggest leak of mine (but it impacts my game WAYY WAYYYYY Smaller than my hypertilts) - playing based on a very tiny sample.

The 180 bb hand was based on 40/30/4 stats and only one read - he check shoved 2 pair on the flop.

The K9s hand was meh, the 50/30 dude was opening about 50% 3way hands and his fold to 3bet was around 80% only from 60 hands.
I feel that the check shove was good though as I am c/f with overcards here always and he will always bet.

The 88 hand was based on 6/9 3bets, 1/2 4 bet over like 80 hands. Real bad :o

Anyway, this is not something that will pin me to NL25 or NL50, but a second biggest leak I have to work on after my control of tilts caused by external factors (tiredness from work mostly)

Pure brag
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 08 2009

This is me 4 tabling.
What I love is not the fact that I simply hit a boomswitch, but that the progress is beautifully smooth and steady, and that I managed to brainless spew only about 3 BI.

Up to NL25, 5bb/100 is all I am asking for while 4 tabling.

This is fucken ridiculous.

PTR started tracking <100NL hands right after I started my job. and this is how my graph looks like.
So I have decided to write Poker God's three amendments in my own blood, please see below.

My forecast after abiding to the contract:

Rebuilding (again)
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 05 2009

I am not posting graphs any more as it is -ev.
I have watched 4 episodes on Real life NL Grinder and re watched 3 episodes of Coaching tree and looked and evaluated my game afterwards before Purging my Database to 'start afresh' and not to be slowed down by my small RAM.

Anyway the biggest leaks were:

1) Too wide default opening UTG and UTG+1
The word default is crucial as I believe it is really bad to have a starting hand chart. But now to open hands less than QJs+ and KQo+ + all pps I need to have a reason (specific table dynamics) as opposed to previously tightening up only after evaluating that the table dynamics require it.

This will have a very small impact on my 4 tabling game as I adjust after like 15 hands anyway, by when I 6+ table this should be a very +ev move that saves me moneyz.

2) Small default bet sizing.
I should especially cbet bigger against villains that I play non-exploitable style against as it makes them less likely to call and allows me to bloat the pot when I have a strong hand.

3) I don't play exploitably enough against not attentive villains.

What I said for decent enemies doesn't apply at all. I was cbetting way too big amounts against fish and value betting too low.
Now my default cbet size against villains that play their own cards is 50% when I miss and 90% when I hit as a general rule, adjusting to specific boards.

I also never adjusted my PF sizing properly at its something that is also easily exploitable.
I use a lot of minraising pre when there are nits and one fish, and I will make use of 6bb+ preflop opening in early position when there is one huge fish and some tags for example.

I play was playing a very exploitable style against villains that couldn't exploit it, but I will take it to whole new level now.

3) BR management.
Although I have been playing in games that I crush for 2 months now, I can't get to my regular limits due to my hypertilts.
I will newly play with 30BI+ BR at all levels to offset this.

I don't really care how fast I progress, there is a lot to learn on any limit when I don't autopilot.

Here is my couple hands at NL10 since I started watching the vids and started 4-6 tabling (which I find much harder than 9+ tabling in automode btw )

I will also post a blog every Sunday that shows all my brainless spews that make no fucking sense and I hate myself for doing them not only afterwards, but even DURING the actual hands BEFORE clicking the buttons.

I have no monetary or progress goals, I just want to play good poker, don't throw away stacks without at least understand why I do so, and above all have fun

For the lolz: (I won a KJ v JJ shove vs a guy that just sat down the hand before)

Heureka
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 03 2009

I think Chewits got it pretty accurately
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/762278

And I can't control it when I am tired.

So my plan is to either :

A) not play tired
B) Get rid of my addictive gambol personality

I am working on A, any suggestions on how to tackle B) are welcome.

October (another lol)
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 02 2009

I ran hot and bad, but in the end I think the pack was pretty much neutral for the month for me.

So yeah, I can say that I am a breakeven player now (same as last month). And that is pathetic with so much free money at NL25.

I have a large edge over the limit when I don't have my burnout turbospew sessions (I lost at least 30BI in a way that is almost equal of shoving money down the drain, all of them during 5-6 days of the month), but still at least once per week I am brain dead and wipeout everything completely.

I have a week break and then my goal is to play much less hands this month, about 25k should be ideal.

I will get a $800 SN bonus soon, so I must really stop spewing so much not to go busto before I do.

Fudge
  LemOn[5thF], Nov 01 2009

K it was Halloween (went to a nice party with my gf, its nice to get trashed once in a while), I had a huge hangover on Saturday and spewed out about $250 at NL25 and NL10.

Then I set myself a goal that I will not play at all on Sunday and just watch videos. I was so tired that I couldn't focus on the vids and instead I spewed out another $150 (when I clearly set a goal in my mind that I will not play)

My work is real busy these days (year end is approaching which involves a lot of stuff to do if you work in a Sarbanes Oxley/Risk and Governance Finance reporting team) and with that comes a lot of stress. On top of it I have largely neglected the learning part of my job/1year placement.

I know its taking me too long to adjust but I used to play 9 tables 6 hours/day day 7 days a week and didn't have to do anything else than grind apart from some studying once per month, and I simply can't get the balance right just yet.

Its really pathetic that with my knowledge I easily crush NL2-NL50 when I am alert, but because the neverending spew sessions where I burnout and don't think about what the fuck am I doing and lose at least 10BI's within tens of minutes make me a loser at NL25 and breakeven at NL10.

I am taking a week off to think about things and to focus on my work properly and then I am giving myself until end of January to find a balance in my regime otherwise I am done with poker until I finish my Placement in the summer. Grinding when you are a just a student/poker player full time just seems so god damn easy to me now.

Couple FTP Questions
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 22 2009

I am too good and therefore can't get any action at NL25 at stars, so I am signing up on Fulltilt to own some bitches there when I don't play on Stars*
I signed up through PokerSrategy (I got my Stars account through them too) - 27% RB, Deposit bonus and Poker strategy points and races.

Anyway to my questions:

1)How does the deposit bonus releasing stand against the 27% rakeback?

Does anyone know what is the rakeback % with the bonus AND rb running at the same time?

2)Where do I see how much RB I am going to receive? Is it somewhere in my FTP account?

3) Is there an alternative to Tableninja on FTP?

That'll be all, I got $600 on both FTP and PS, I will spend about 15% of my time on FTP when I am tilting to change the routine and cut on tables and make the transition next February when my Supernova expires (unless I make it to NL100/ez keep SN by then).

Here I snap called, but w/e I am posting this to show you my cool FTP Nickname, gimme some love for it :D

Close to impossible :(
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 21 2009

Yeah it happened again... hypertilt.

I find it really hard not to spew massively at least once in 10 days since I started working. Its like my energy bank is being drained until its really thin and the ice always starts to break and I experience burnout.
Its really easy to spew when your brain stamina is drained 40 + hours per week at your job. I am a spewmonkey at heart, but when I am alert I only use that to my advantage.

Take last Saturday when I was rested - I went on a 5BI downswing, fish were stacking me all over the place, it was pathetic. But I didn't spew once that day and finished 8BI richer.

The same case was on Sunday. I was card dead, and again was pwned. I finished the day break even after 5k hands. But I feeling great sense of accomplishment after going through my larger pots and I couldn't find one fundamental mistake.
I also never got angry whatsoever because of suckouts or one of the 3 KK v AAs.
The only thing that could make me angry was my bad play when I made an automated decision which swould be different should I think about the hand longer.

Same situation today, I encountered some minor troubles (losing 100% of flips).
Correct Adjustment to this is: Nothing. Blank. You don't change your game. Just like I managed at the weekend - at one point I was down 5BI and I felt really great about my game as I knew I played everything close to perfect with information at hand.

But today, 3 days of 24 hours of my job, one exhausting soccer session, 1HR of cardio and one heavy argument with my GF later, I crumbled.
I no longer had the brain stamina to think about what I am doing, and suddenly I was turning my head at every flip I lost. I even punched the desk a couple times when 70vp fish flipped over AA after shove.
Needless to say I also threw out about 2-3 stacks completely, and made some hyper obvious -EV decisions.
Although it was not a hypertilt of a magnitude 2-3 months ago (Yes I am showing improvement), but it was a hypertilt nonetheless.

I don't think there is much more on the poker side that I can do about this. My goal will be to avoid these burnouts completely and find a better life balance.
I am really fat for my standards (I used to to play a game called floorball/unihoc/innebandy for 10 years at the highest level there could be in a pure amateur sport, and I kept gaining weight ever since I stopped)
My sleeping patterns are not good (I don't have a fixed time when I go to sleep really. something between 10PM-2AM)
And I don't relax properly, any suggestions on a proper relaxing activities would be appreciated.

Barry G says that playing Poker successfully and having a busy full-time job is close to impossible, but I will never stop until I can prove him wrong.

P.S.Note: This blog is NOT A RANT ABOUT VARIANCE. Variance is the one biggest reason that we all here can make good money out of poker and anyone ranting about it is an oblivious fish.
