NL100 progress
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 27 2009

So I wanted to post all the graphs and stuff and brag about my wins, but when I told my GF she just flipped me off.
And she is right, I always talk about how much I have won today and about the Porshe I will get, and now I made her monthly part-time salary in 2 days, when I am in fact just a 1.5bb/100 long term winner because of my endless spews.

Her words of wisdom: Its just a game, don't think about your roll ('poker money' in her words) as real money, you can't even afford a proper TV and bitch about $100 jacket being too expensive. Stop thinking about the supercar you will maybe get in X years just focus on getting better. The money turns real only if you have it your bank account.

When I told her about my table selection where I play only on tables with 'free money' and the worst players I can find and I spend half of my time swapping/monitoring tables and changing seats she just ask: But how do you learn and improve?

I don't know where the hell she got all this from, I just want to say I love my GF

Stats check
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 25 2009

Didn't do this in a while,

Please see above and look for stats that you have different and why would that be.
They are only basic ones, I just want to confirm that I am roughly on the right track.

Small sample, only December NL50-NL100 as my game is constantly evolving and I have watched a ton of vids end November (so winnings will be pretty much irrelevant)

Is it worth it to start looking for good river bluff spots at NL100 apart from obvious 3 barrels, or should I study more on this topic once I start taking shots at NL200?

tyStars+Xmas
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 24 2009

First they give me a virtually free Supernova, and now they let me keep it easily with reduction to 7,500 VPP/month needed.

You guys can't imagine how much this change means to me, I was going to try to hold SN with having a fulltime job and grinding NL50/NL100.
Less pressure to multitable, less pressure to play tilted, but still enough pressure to keep me playing decent volumes.
And the extra bonuses just mean that I can hit my goal of $10k BR in 9 months with just rakeback. Sweeet.

Xmas
Merry Christmas everybody,

I am spending Christmas with my Girlfriend. I will be cooking some traditional Czech food, clean the flat, have long phone calls with my family and most of all don' play a single hand, don't look at any hands posted and check LP only if there are more presents for me :o

Poker Year 2009(bump)
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 22 2009

I actually made a first semi-ok blog in like 4 months when reviewing 2009, and it got pushed away after 20 minutes.

My first bump ever, if you don't think the blog is worth it don't hesitate to give me a(1) star :o

Poker in 2009(long)
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 20 2009

Since the rest of the year I will be largely off/clearing bonus on FTP at NL25 lets do some recap.
2010 goals will follow at the end of December.

2009
I started playing poker late February, and I was doing damn good.
I played $0.10 and $0.50 sng's on ipoker for one week after facebook pokering, and then I decided to switch to cash games.

$50 from Poker strategy and LP behind my back I went on 9 tabling NL2 fullring
Here is my first graph after getting PT3, You can see that I was born a monkey:
+ Show Spoiler +

At that time I had The Poker Pro Mentality
This concept pinned out by Tommy Angelo says that you would play your best if you'd have to win at poker, OR DIE.

Well, I was a completely broke student back then, I had to borrow money from my girlfriend so I could buy food and paying each month's electricity bill was a huge hustle.
I abandoned Starcraft completely, and played poker furiously.

Just look at my one day's session at NL2:

I played like a machine, and this is the graph for MY TWO FIRST MONTHS. EVER.

Then I hit a large downswing, losing some 40BI, but that was nothing really as I had...

VOLUME

By this time I have switched to 6max and was playing sick hours and taking poker super seriously.
And then there was the 7,500VPP promo for UK (if you get 7,500 VPP you get 80,000 more for free)

I was a fucking maniac back then, my university finished and I was just playing poker.
The 11h session is not even the longest I played, the longest was 12.42 hours break even session
See here:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/blog/viewblog.php?id=732015

I made 7,500 VPP IN 20 DAYS AT NL25
BOOOM.... soon after this... Supernova.

I finally started cutting on tables and moved to NL50.
As I had all the time in the world I was CRUSHING

Note that this was the last session before I STARTED MY FULL TIME JOB
My first really fulltime job in the office (I was a part time baker for two years prior to this to pay my way through college)

It was all over the internet that...

Yup, the poker pro is dead.
I cashed some $1,5 out of poker and it saved my life back then (I would not have survived without that money), but ever since then I was working 40hrs/week and had energy for what was my love and income.

The grinder mentality and the necessity to be good at poker was gone. I had no spare energy and no real need for money.
The skill is still there, don't get me wrong and its so easy to rebuild for me (which I was forced to do twice), I had too many sessions where I simply bled out 10BI in 4Hours because I had a mental breakdown.

Turning the corner
Playing poker while working when you are not used to work, and your regime/fitness/eating are very bad and on the top of the all you have a very bad, results oriented poker mindset where any suck out can set you off is damn hard.

And when I went went to $420 borderline busto at the end of October, I knew I had to change something or otherwise I am wasting my time.

I went on rebuilding from NL10 again, got a DC subscription, read some psychology articles and watched a life changing series from Tommy Angelo. As a result of this I proudly am the follower of no whine train, which many of you find annoying

I have also LUCKBOXED $1400 in a 100 FPP Freerol and things were looking better for once.

Summary
I started with $50 from Pokerstrategy on February 2nd and right now I am here:

+cashed out some $3k including Amazon vouchers.
I also posted more than 4k times at this wretched site in that period (-ev, SUPER -EV I SAY)

And also, poker HAS BEEN FUN for me and still is

Although I have lost my grind and I doubt I will find it until my Work Placement finishes, I declare 2009 Poker year as a success.

Thanks for reading

NL25
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 19 2009

After seeing this + watching a CR vid about redline myths, I found out that I need to seriously cut on playing oop and especially on opening UTG.

BR: $525 + whatever extra rakeback Poker strategy ships next friday.
I will take NL50 shots at $900.

nl100 shot
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 18 2009

Thats right, after discussion with my coach I have decided to take a 5 BI shot at NL100.

I think the main reason for me is that my in game skills are good enough to do so, but I also plan to keep my Supernova while having a full time job, and that would be damn hard playing only NL50.
I have abandoned my plan to move up at $4k and take a 10BI shot, but I will instead be taking aggressive 5BI shots and go back to NL50 at $3k.

At the beginning I played really badly/nitty/spewy for no reason. I also spewed about 6BI in those 2.5K hands because I overestimated the regs really badly. They seem to be the same not enough adjusting regs like those at NL50, they just spew a lot less.

So I guess its my usual NL50 routine - brutal table selection, lag preflop + nitty postflop against the regs, and exploiting the fish with whatever I have in my arsenal thats suitable.
And as I don't think I will be able to keep this up at more than 4 tables, I might also do some 6-8 tabling at NL50.

Long term goal
Still stands -hit $10k to go pro next summer to pay my way through last year of university (My dad will chip in roughly for my rent and I will start saving some cash from my Salary. Beginning January lol.)

If I maintain my SN I will hit that goal just by being a FPPro. Hope that it won't have to come to this though.

Why you suck at poker
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 15 2009

- I don't take it seriously
- I am attached to the monetary value
- I don't understand the mathematical concepts well enough (e.g. ask me for equation for evaluating profitability of a check raise on the turn, I can't answer)
- I am results oriented
- I don't play enough hours
- I am lazy to take notes, think about every spot and I hardly ever play my A game (i.e. where I pay 100 attention to everything that happens at the tables and try to adjust)

Add yours people, anyone who doesn't reply is either a douche bag or Phil Ivey (and even he has his flaws he openly admits)

New Ram or PC?
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 13 2009

I get dealt Aces on the button. A fish limps and I raise for 6bb.
A nitty reg cold 4bets me.
I look at my hand. Its Aces, sweet and...fold, my screen just froze.

I can't even watch DC vids with having PT3 open.

My PC is 4 years old with AMD Sempron processor with 512MB ram and W XP, and I had to recently buy a usb sound card because the jacks were not working.

Would a simple additional 512MB ram addon be sufficient, or should I just pay up some £270/$430 (i.e. one amazon voucher fot 25k FPP) for W7 PC with 3GB Ram and one of the quadcore or whatever that is nowadays thingies?

Pokerz

Anyway, for my poker update I have to say that I am not happy.
Not because I run bad, but because it still has effect on my game.

I absorbed all the great ideas from The Eithfold path to Poker Enlightenment, but as Tommy Angelo himself said, getting rid of tilting is a long run exercise and tiltlessness will not be achieved over night.
Still, my C game is way better than it was before, and when translated to winrate I think I am losing only some 5bb/100 when I play my C Game (the worst you can possibly play), where it was some -10+bb/100 in the past (see my previous blogpost with an example of my Cgame from a month ago)
