I can do it too
  LemOn[5thF], Jan 10 2010

Yeah baby, Breakeven weekend, many hands!

I was 4-6 tabling, played 9 sessions on Friday and Saturday.
I found it very good to have a preset one hour slots where my goal is to play for one hour and not be concerned about winnings.

And today I dunno where it came from, but I suddenly felt calm enough to multitable without spewing much. I played 6.5 hours on 12 tables breakeven. This was my first break even multitabling session at NL50 like...ever :D

I played true multitabling TAG style with ton of pot control and only obvious bluffs and what not. I actually found it very relaxing, I made only notes when I was in the hand or when I observed some large pots.

Well, it was fun, its great that I can do this, and its also great that I have 5K VPP this month already, way ahead of pace and I can just 4 table a couple hours every day and get to 7.5k.

And maybe you ask why I bother with NL50 when I am very well rolled for NL100? Well I have decided to make $5k my 'stand'.
I still work and I still tilt a lot although I made good progress lately like cutting my tilting sessions quickly(Its simple - when I work for 8 hours I jump right into my C game when I start tables in the afternoon), and with $4k VPP bonus+$1K stellar+$1k SN milestone I will reach my goal of $10k BR in 9 months no matter what, so having the $5k makes me comfortable.

Oh and btw, whats the point of playing NL100 when I play breakeven at NL50 (Thanks to my -10BB+/100 C Game) innit -.-
I will take another shot at NL100 for 5BI at $5.5k, maybe even later.

EDIT: Yeah and also because LikeAset and Mayzerg freaked me out FU guys :D

Weekend target
  LemOn[5thF], Jan 08 2010

Starting 18:00 GMT Friday:
End 22:00 GMT Sunday

15 separate Sessions, 50-70 minutes long
Starting limit: NL50
Move to up: 6+bi won
Move down:6+bi lost

I will keep track of them and input a short review after each session.
I will vary 4 and 6 tables (1hr4, 1hr 6) to break the routine and see the difference maybe.

Its time to stop fucking around, I need some proper regime or I can say bye bye to my goal of being a pro when hardcore year 4 of uni starts. Hope this experiment works out, I am looking for balancing the most volume with the least danger of tiredness of mind and hyper tilt.

And to make this more fun, I will post 1 chick pick per review so you you can keep coming back. First in 2h22 minutes :o

Call be Jamie Gold btw
+ Show Spoiler +

If anyone wants to sweat me add LP-LemOn on skype, preferably not people playing on the same tables.

SESSION 1
IO{AGHSDFUIO{HASIO{HIOHASDBFOPSDBFPSDFSDO{AJS:ASNDAS MUTHAFUCKAKAAAA
MY PC SUDDENLY RESTARED AND ALL MY STARS SETTINGS GOT RESET OMFGANNOYING SOUNDS SAME COLOURDECK 30 MINUTES TO FIX TAHT SHIT FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU TILT WORSE SESSION EVERRRRRRRRRR

Session2

During this session I didn't feel good at all. I was playing 6 tables, unfocused and I made some large spews.

I had a big dinner and watched a movie, perhaps I should have had the session earlier in the day, my redline was horrible.

The result was a very unfocused session where I lost 1.4 buy ins just by bad play and redline.

I think I have to have the 6 tabling session at my peak performance time before lunch and in the afternoon, and 4 table when it gets late/ after meal

Sesion 3
After watching a video last night at Blue fire poker, I must agree with the author that LAG is a good style for NL50-NL200.

What I misunderstood previously is that you have to run big bluffs and fight for your stack all over the place, which is not true at all.

The goal of LAG is to appear to have a crazy image preflop and steal many small pots, but never pay off with the worse hand or stack off light.

So I tried to apply the philosophy this morning and its hard, very hard.

A) because I was tired after last night (thats rigfht I wake up tired now lolz)
B) I find it hard not to stack off light and I make many mistakes

Overall a break even session, but I will push myself to play as many hands preflop as possible in position, its a good trend.

Being aggressive changes the dynamic from avoiding mistakes to forcing them upon others (and is more fun)

Session 4

Terribad, my head hurts, I am tired and feel bad. I paid off nits where I shouldn't twice - Its so hard to play aggressive when I am not in my top shape
1.4BI down for today, I will tighten up or play loose when I feel better.

When you play 70% steal and 34/27 there is absolutely no room for FPS, big bluffs and hero calls, and doing any of those destroys the whole point of LAG.

Session 5
6 table chill for a bit. Still got my headache and continue playing bad... I will get some Chinese Takeaway and go for another grind.
Made some huge spews, but am on track towards my weekend goal.
And I run hot, which is never bad -.-

I also need an aspirin, because of my headache.
My diet is very bad, Chinese instant noodles every day , I really miss my gf

Session 6
This one went well at first, The Chinese Takeaway was closed, so I had to cook myself. Some Brocolli, Tomatoes, Beef, Salad with Soy and Oyster sauce and steamed rice on the side. Decent/not as good as from my gf
Also took some aspirin and went for a grind.

The session went well from my perspective. I was 4 tabling and for the first time this weekend I was not playing my C game.
I went on fishunting, and won some nice $30, ship it.

One negative thing was certainly that I got distracted by fellow LP member, and I never say no to a potential discussion about poker
This cost me some 20Big Bets, I have to make sure I avoid IM ing when I am having one of my sessions. Its only 60 minutes for gods sake.

I am on track and will put in 2-3 more sessions today.

Session 7
This session was semi-decent.

I was first getting ran over by everyone, but then I got some nice fish on my tables and hit some sexy heaters and went up again.

What was bad was my weak plan against regs, where I checked flop with Midpair and then called 2 barrels and...they always hed sets or flushes lol. I play so aggressive at the moment (some 31/27 including 1 HU table) that I must appear very loose to everyone and it makes no sense to call down 2 streets just because I would do so.

I play with some 52% attempted to steal at the moment and it feels really good.
I also have to check fold flops more and double barrel much less without a hand, as people are just snapping me never thinking about raising with overpairs and top pairs, and my bets are too transparent.

I still feel like I largely suck and I make so many mistakes, but its fun and +ev in the longterm indeed.

I will try to put in one more session, which will leave me with 7 tomorrow.

Maybe I will put in two if I will feel like it in a couple minutes, it would be nice to have a relaxing Sunday

Session 8 & 9
Eight and nine?

Thats right. The Eight session started badly. I was playing on a table with huge fish and I got pwned multiple times.
I lost with set of sixes versus a set of deuces (turned quads), and with higher flush draw on turn All in.

So after 1 hour, I was deep with 2 fish to my left, and had another fish to my right, and I had good reads on both of them.
Staying was +ev, but this time I simply got attached to my money they had and wanted it back ;D.

BUT, this time Around I didn't continue grinding, I Actually sat out on all my tables, went to bedroom, and tried one of Tommy Angelo's breathing exercises. I came back fresh and played much better than if I didn't take out the 7 minutes or so. And I eventually stacked one fish for 170bb and took 100 bb from the other one

Weeeeeeee ship it

These bad boys will go awesome by my SN shirt, and mine and my gf's matching T's I bought from FPP amassed at NL2 and 5 back in the day.

Next month:

-Travel mug
-Key Chain light

EDIT: lol, I just realised that I didn't cash out any money playing poker past 5+ months. I just play this game for entertainment and cool clothing/stuffed animals :D

Well, its still more than I ever got out of Starcraft (some lousy DVD's and a mouse mat when I won regional high school competition-.-)

Cool session
  LemOn[5thF], Jan 06 2010

Back to reality - my job started again.

Was really tired at work today, so I pumped up on caffeine at the end.
So I come home all mentally tired but speeded up at the same time, like a monkey on ecstasy.
Should have seen it coming, on the positive side I quit after 300 hands and not after 4k as usual when I hypertilt ;D

It was soo easy and so much fun over the holidays to just grind it up with a huge winrate when poker was all I was doing (While I had a breakeven month I made $2k in 10 days during the Christmas holidays while still running -ev lol).
I envy you poker pros so much for gods sake!

The usual boring stuff:
+ Show Spoiler +

Well, thank god I play with 100 BIs.

FIX: Rewatch Poker Enlightenment. I will not play until I have seen all 8 hours again. Think I have to watch it every month and I already ordered the book, as I am lazy to remember to do the couple things Tommy asked me to do in it.

Calling 3bets DB check
  LemOn[5thF], Jan 03 2010

BOOOM. Database check.
I don't expect anyone to read this al, as its super boring. Please just scroll down and answer the couple questions I have prepared for you

Call 3bet preflop

AQ
HAND1: We had quite a history with fellow LPer Lilzhiming at NL25, throwing stacks with QJo and 33 and stuff like that
+ Show Spoiler +

Still this breaks down to one fundamental mistake - I called a 4bet UTG oop with the intention to check fold when I miss and to stack off with hands that are dominated.

HAND2:
+ Show Spoiler +

Unknown, I raise UTG and flat his 3bet 5handed and do nothing in the hand (guess I was delayed floating?)
Well how could I? He was unknown

HAND3-X: Stack offs v shorties/midstacks. AQ is losing me moneyz, is this just variance? Do you stack off v unknown midstacks with AQ?
+ Show Spoiler +

HAND4:
Unknown again, check min raise, I don't see how I can get away from getting stacked, do you guys just fold PF?
+ Show Spoiler +

HAND5&6: I call when deep with the intention of check folding when I don't hit and to stack off with a dominated hand...
22/18 7% 3bet and a sweet spot to 3bet from his perspective.

Hand6 is where I call a 3bet from a total nit
+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

2) 99
HAND1:
15/15/3/13WTSD 4/31 3bet (14%)
squeeze 1/5 opportunities prior to the hand

This looks so bad omg. This was so horribly misplayed. If I really think he is so wide I can float him for 100bb, this would be a 4bet/call preflop. Not to say my turn bet is retarded.

+ Show Spoiler +

Actually, lets look at 4bet shove as an option, because shoving is sexy, and 4bet calling will have virtually the same effect.
Shoving with hands that need fold equity is essentially a semi-bluff (e.g. any time you are shoving with AK against a regular you are semi bluffing), and shoving with 99 is nothing different in the said situation.

EV(semi-bluff) = X * Dead Money + (1- X) * [Equity * (Dead Money + Bet Size) - (1- Equity) * Bet Size]

Dead money=15

Equity= 35.775%

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 64.225% 64.03% 00.19% 223662072 681114.00 { QQ+, AKs, AKo }
Hand 1: 35.775% 35.58% 00.19% 124285716 681114.00 { 99 }

Bet size= 71.9

Fold Equity = X

EV= X*15 +(1-x)*[0.35775*(15+71.9)-(1-0.35775)*71.9]
0= 15x +(1-x)* (31.088475-46.17775)
0=15x +(1-x)(-15.089275)
0=15x-15.089275+15.089275x
0=30.089275x-15.089275
0=x-0.50149
x=0.50149

50% of the time he has to fold - this should be an easy 4bet/call or direct shove with the information we have at the moment if he calls only QQ+ AK as we are deep. It gets worse if he calls/shoves JJ but folds AQs, but it should still be profitable if I believe he 3bets more than 7% of his hands (88+, ATs+, KTs+, AQo+)

If anything it will be WAY better than calling and spewing like I did in the hand

HAND2:
80bb out the window against unknown.
+ Show Spoiler +

HAND3: I rep the ace, and then CALL when he is making an obvious BLOCKBET? what the fuck.
Don't raise turn or shove river, there is nothing in between and when I have a read I have to go with it when I raise turn.
+ Show Spoiler +

3) Broadways

HAND1-X: I shouldn't go calling KQo against unknown with any other intention to hit 2pair+ when they raise small or to see showdown as cheaply as possible.
Another example of not sticking to my PF plan, and I will be better of just pitching especially the unsuited broadways preflop or go to 4bet/fold.

+ Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler +

HAND2: This is missplayed a lot.
Ok, I call preflop to get a dream flop. Thats why I call, to shove flops like this one. Yet I decide to float.

This is really bad, and I should check flop only if I want a free river card. I put my stack in anyway, but I didn't do it on the flop with 50% equity, but on the turn with 30%.
+ Show Spoiler +

Development Points:
- Don't call 3bets without a plan (plan=c/f on total blanks = 4bet or fold)
- Stick to my plan (99 hand) if I don't have a plan, FOLD PREFLOP.
- don't call 3bets while multitabling, 4bet or fold unless call is the only option.

Questions
1)AQo - do you stack off against random mid stacks at NL50,NL100 when you get 3bet?
2)Can you provide examples of your plan against what villains when calling 3bets preflop other than check fold with broadways etc?
What hands are you calling to a 3bet and why?

P.S. For those that got this far, here is some reward( NSFW), I really appreciate any contribution.

Database check
  LemOn[5thF], Jan 02 2010

Tilt, lets go find some leaks -.-

1) Preflop Raise - standard

2)3bet - as expected, the profitability goes down from NL10 to NL100 gradually.
Still this potentially can be something I can improve upon, I will refresh Professor Plotkin to get the math behind 3bets right and try to push them higher.

Facing steal AND 3bet in SB and BB

Call 3bet preflop - leak, kinda obvious one.
I don't play back too much in 3bet pots. I have to watch Plotkin and fix this, I really am calling just to fold when I miss way too often.

4bet PF yeah, I spew and level myself wayyy too much

+ Show Spoiler +

Call preflop raise
What the fuck? :D must be mostly NL50 and NL100 since I started 4tabling

22-66 not perfect, not perfect at all

Low SC and gappers - the upswing is recent when 4 tabling, I think this is a clear indication that I should tigten up when I don't play my A game soul reading all over the place on 4 tables.

All hands minus broadways when raised PF

Well, my PT3 froze now daaaam. Its 1:20 anyway, I will analyse this tomorrow and add more graphs and try to get some conclusions together/areas to focus on.

If you guys could tell me what other filters are significant in terms if leak finding, that would be much appreciated.

Please note that these hands are from NL10-NL100 from past two months as I played them (NL10-NL25-NL50-NL100 as I moved up)

Weeeeeee
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 30 2009

You know guys how I hate the emo kids whining about ev and bragging about short term pointless wins.

Well, whatever today I am one of them, whats this childs game for if we don't celebrate at least the milestones?
$50 into 5k in 10 months since I started at NL2 (excluding cashouts)

$420 54 days ago

now this

I am slacking on play money though.

I don't care that variance can struck me tomorrow and I can lose it all, I will be the dude that hit $5k BR forever :o

By the way I run 16BI/$700 below EV this month (combination of NL25/NL50/NL100, 2.5Bi below ev at NL100, most at NL25 where I was actually a loser this month messing with 15+ stacked tables) which makes this feel even better

2010 Goals
  LemOn[5thF], Dec 28 2009

I will be alone this New Year's eve, I don't even know if I will get drunk home alone, or just ignore the day.
So my real 2010 starts on Thursday Morning when my GF leaves to China for one month (my colleagues are all with families and foreign students I know go usually home for holidays)

Vital goal: $10k Bankroll, 2bb/100 stable long term winner at 6 tables/ or $20 per hour by beginning of September.

I will go back to my studies at that time and if I don't make the $20/hour I will be as awesome as this guy:

Targets:
- min 7500VPP every month until summer,
15k+VPP when my Work placement finishes
- 10 vids watched/month, 1 article read

Indirect but related targets:
- Work only 37.5 hours/week
- Go to sleep 11:30, wake up 7:30 arrive to work before 8:50.
- Gym 2-3 times per week
- Max 1 Takeaway/2weeks, eat more vegetables

Real life only target:
- Lose 15KG/33Pounds.
- Stop throwing away money, start saving

Reasoning
BR/WINRATES

$20/hour will simply allow me to get by without a part time job. University is easy and I will be playing 30 hours per week(I was playing 40hrs/week+ and 12hr sessions were not unusual before I started my job), and $1.5k is all I need for expenses as my family will send me some monthly amount covering my very low rent for Britain.

That would leave some $900 per month to build my bankroll slowly.

$10k is ideal amount for NL100 pro, and I can start taking slow shots at NL200 when I reach that amount.

TARGETS
7,500 per month is just to hold my SN.
I can reach my BR goal just by keeping it and clearing bonuses.

10Vids watched/1Article read is very reasonable. I will keep my DC subscription and I also have CR for the next month.

INDIRECT TARGETS
WORKING TIME
I am paid close to minimum wage and get paid 35 hours yet I work over 41 hours per week on average. I will plan better and take on much less workload.
Even my Line Manager set me this as my Personal Development goal, I simply have to say no when people need help I don't have time to finish in my standard hours and prioritise properly (I am an Administrator for 2 two teams under same department but with different areas of focus)

This should also help to increase my performance, last two months I always had 3-4 things that absolutely had to be done RIGHT NOW, which made me stressed/I couldn't plan my time. Feeling good about my job performance and not feeling overworked will have huge impacts on my life and poker win rates too.

SLEEPING REGIME
Another super important thing. Not sleeping regularly just adds to stress, and takes out focus and stamina - another impact on winrates

GYM 2-3 TIMES PER WEEK
I have been going to the gym quite regularly, when I felt like it. sometimes 3 times per week, sometimes 1 per two weeks. I would like to use the extra time I get from working less for Gym and go standard 3 times per week + Football with office buds + Floorball if I feel like it.
Regular exercise improves my confidence, and improved stamina means longer sessions at full alertness.

My fitness will be especially important when my work placement finishes and poker will change from a hobby as it is now to a job and 10hr+sessions will be needed at peak times. I couldn't do that at my current fitness levels.

EATING HABITS
That should come naturally with the regular exercise.
No drastic change, just food from my GF and cut on sweets/so frequent takeaways and pizzas and In-house canteen lunches at work.

Eating heavy food before playing sessions has negative impacts on focus and makes you tired - not crushing but significant impact on winrates.

UNRELATED GOALS
-Lose weight because I am so fucking fat its unbelievable. I was playing Floor ball for 8 years on top level- I was a goalie known for incredible reflexes and speed.

I was very slim. I moved to Britain and got a part time job in a Scottish Bakery (FREE SCOTCH PIES FOR 2 YEARS BABY). And after that I got an office job.

I put on over 25 KGs since 3 years ago. Sick.

-Save money
I spend some 15 bucks just for water/lunch/fruit per day at work, who know how much per week on pizzas, kebabs and restaurants with my GF, and I am even lazy to go extra 200 metres to a supermarket that is 20% cheaper that the one I go to because its close.

2010
Will be awesome.
I plan on achieving my poker goals mostly through the RL Indirect stuff, as at the moment I bleed 30BI+ per month with plays that I would never make consciously that I make when I am tired.
All I need to do is not play tired/unfocused, full stop.

If I manage just the couple changes to my lifestyle and keep them I will easily surpass the modest result-wise goals I set for myself and 2010 will be the best year ever.
