I will be alone this New Year's eve, I don't even know if I will get drunk home alone, or just ignore the day.
So my real 2010 starts on Thursday Morning when my GF leaves to China for one month (my colleagues are all with families and foreign students I know go usually home for holidays)
Vital goal: $10k Bankroll, 2bb/100 stable long term winner at 6 tables/ or $20 per hour by beginning of September.
I will go back to my studies at that time and if I don't make the $20/hour I will be as awesome as this guy:

Targets:
- min 7500VPP every month until summer,
15k+VPP when my Work placement finishes
- 10 vids watched/month, 1 article read
Indirect but related targets:
- Work only 37.5 hours/week
- Go to sleep 11:30, wake up 7:30 arrive to work before 8:50.
- Gym 2-3 times per week
- Max 1 Takeaway/2weeks, eat more vegetables
Real life only target:
- Lose 15KG/33Pounds.
- Stop throwing away money, start saving
Reasoning
BR/WINRATES
$20/hour will simply allow me to get by without a part time job. University is easy and I will be playing 30 hours per week(I was playing 40hrs/week+ and 12hr sessions were not unusual before I started my job), and $1.5k is all I need for expenses as my family will send me some monthly amount covering my very low rent for Britain.
That would leave some $900 per month to build my bankroll slowly.
$10k is ideal amount for NL100 pro, and I can start taking slow shots at NL200 when I reach that amount.
TARGETS
7,500 per month is just to hold my SN.
I can reach my BR goal just by keeping it and clearing bonuses.
10Vids watched/1Article read is very reasonable. I will keep my DC subscription and I also have CR for the next month.
INDIRECT TARGETS
WORKING TIME
I am paid close to minimum wage and get paid 35 hours yet I work over 41 hours per week on average. I will plan better and take on much less workload.
Even my Line Manager set me this as my Personal Development goal, I simply have to say no when people need help I don't have time to finish in my standard hours and prioritise properly (I am an Administrator for 2 two teams under same department but with different areas of focus)
This should also help to increase my performance, last two months I always had 3-4 things that absolutely had to be done RIGHT NOW, which made me stressed/I couldn't plan my time. Feeling good about my job performance and not feeling overworked will have huge impacts on my life and poker win rates too.
SLEEPING REGIME
Another super important thing. Not sleeping regularly just adds to stress, and takes out focus and stamina - another impact on winrates
GYM 2-3 TIMES PER WEEK
I have been going to the gym quite regularly, when I felt like it. sometimes 3 times per week, sometimes 1 per two weeks. I would like to use the extra time I get from working less for Gym and go standard 3 times per week + Football with office buds + Floorball if I feel like it.
Regular exercise improves my confidence, and improved stamina means longer sessions at full alertness.
My fitness will be especially important when my work placement finishes and poker will change from a hobby as it is now to a job and 10hr+sessions will be needed at peak times. I couldn't do that at my current fitness levels.
EATING HABITS
That should come naturally with the regular exercise.
No drastic change, just food from my GF and cut on sweets/so frequent takeaways and pizzas and In-house canteen lunches at work.
Eating heavy food before playing sessions has negative impacts on focus and makes you tired - not crushing but significant impact on winrates.
UNRELATED GOALS
-Lose weight because I am so fucking fat its unbelievable. I was playing Floor ball for 8 years on top level- I was a goalie known for incredible reflexes and speed.
I was very slim. I moved to Britain and got a part time job in a Scottish Bakery (FREE SCOTCH PIES FOR 2 YEARS BABY). And after that I got an office job.
I put on over 25 KGs since 3 years ago. Sick.

-Save money
I spend some 15 bucks just for water/lunch/fruit per day at work, who know how much per week on pizzas, kebabs and restaurants with my GF, and I am even lazy to go extra 200 metres to a supermarket that is 20% cheaper that the one I go to because its close.
2010
Will be awesome.
I plan on achieving my poker goals mostly through the RL Indirect stuff, as at the moment I bleed 30BI+ per month with plays that I would never make consciously that I make when I am tired.
All I need to do is not play tired/unfocused, full stop.
If I manage just the couple changes to my lifestyle and keep them I will easily surpass the modest result-wise goals I set for myself and 2010 will be the best year ever.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same | |

Why would you read 10 videos per month ? Pretty retarded imo...
The best would be to experience it yourself. But that means you should get a nittier BR management.

There are so many things I don't know yet about poker, many of them outside of my thinking process that can't be learned through raw experience.
In 2009 I learned the basic core concepts, but for the more advanced stuff I need some external help (thats where CR/DC vids come in, I will read 1 article per month because I find reading poker articles boring)

The change is huge. When I used to have exercise 5 times per week on a regular basis and I was very fit I could focus for much longer stretches of time than I can now.
Mind over body, but body over mind also they are both inter related.
Its not about how fast or how far I can run, but about my body fat contents and blood circulation |

I don't relate my spirit to my immediate winnings.
I had a breakeven month before I moved up to NL100, but I never felt so good about my game and my prospects. Changed my approach towards variance and my mindset, got some sweat sessions going and watched a ton of vids.
And although I have over 17BI to play with at NL100 I still view it as a shot and I wil not hesitate to move down to NL50 if I will feel I am not beating the game. |
