from the depths of hell
Zalfor, Jan 17 2009
Well, today i started off with less than $30 in my bankroll.
How did this happen you ask?
Poor Bankroll management? Yes.
Mad Tilt? Yes.
Bad Beats? No. No such thing.
Thus, my journey of being up $500 and taking shots at nl25 were reduced to being underrolled for nl2.
How did this happen? what about the $200 in bonuses that I recieved from all those Bonuses?
Well, it all started off with a nl25 session that i went -10BI from my bad plays. Went from $600->$300 in my BR.
Thats not so bad right? I still had like $300 and $125 in bonuses. However, what happened next was horrible.
I played heads up. (nl50). Deeply underrolled i figured i could beat someone with some headsup prowess. Little did i know, i would lose every single hand in that headsup game. Some might call it bad beats, but i guess 70% and 80% chances to win are never enough with a small bankroll.
Thus, i ended up with $150 in my Bankroll.
So now what? With $150 in my bankroll, i firmed up, and cleared my bonuses in nl10. I ran decent, and was able to replenish my BR to $300.
But how did i end up at $100 now you ask?
Bad bankroll management.
After hitting $300 again, I played various games, nl25 ( a few shots), badugi, stud, with razz being the only game i actually earned money in. I lost every single MTT i played, never got in the money, and went on a horrible streak in nl10.
So that left me with $100 the day before yesterday.
I figured, hell, i can grind this back up in nl10, i did it before!
And then, i get slaughtered and end up losing at nl5, eventually landing at a sub $30 bankroll.
I said fuck it, I'll try my best again and grind back up from the bottom. I started playing HUSnGs last night, and found that my heads up "skill" proved a little successful. so i regrinded and grinded and grinded.
So today, after degenerately playing 6s HUSnGs, i am back to my $100 bankroll. A far cry yes from my glory days, but how can i complain? I went on a huge streak like 10 wins in a row in HUSnGs, and found a fun yet rewarding activity.
From here my goals are:
Grind HUSnGs and nl10 until i hit my $500 BR -> nl25 -> $2000 BR -> nl50 HU.
immediate goals:
grind back to $200, and actually be rolled for nl10.
quit tilting and playing like a noob.
learn how to play 6max poker...
learn how to play HU
Well...it's time to get back on the proverbial horse.
moving down yet again
Zalfor, Jan 09 2009
its back to nl5 for me, as I really need to learn how to play...
i have no idea wtf i'm doing when i play...
god T_T
[edit] -$500 in like 3 days. (nl25 -> nl10 -> now nl5)
moving down again
Zalfor, Dec 31 2008
my latest attempt at nl25 yet again kicked my ass (-200).
so, i'm back to nl10 grinding back up, and this time I think I'm going to try to go way beyond 600 before attempting nl25 again. I seem to do ok at nl50 when i tried 1 tabling for fun for a bit, but that's not really indicative of anything, so I think i'm going to be a nl10 grinder for the next week or so until i hit like 1000 or something crazy so i can work on my nl25-nl50 game...

Gold Star
Zalfor, Dec 30 2008
So after playing today and getting absolutely NOWHERE in nl25, i achieved goldstar. I really feel that this is a great accomplishment for me, since its been 3 weeks since i started playing poker, and i really suck at poker still. I'm trying to play off the reload bonus ($75) and I'm going to continue to keep playing nl25 unless i get underrolled for it.
I think I will break through, I just dont know when it will hit me, but I think i can break through nl25 soon.
Also, what should I do with the FPPs? The cash bonuses seem to stack up really well later on, but I don't know if I'm going to get that many FPPs, as it will prob. take me forever to the FPPs needed to get $285, and even moreso the $650 one.
moving up
Zalfor, Dec 29 2008
i started today with $250 after starting the day before with $420. well, as it turned out, i got really lucky today and went on a super heater after losing twice with AA against 55 and 99 (preflop).
i really felt like just quitting there, but i kept my poker face on and grinded back nl10 for 30bb/100 for over 5 hours and over 3k hands. I ran really well, and got 3rd in a 4.4 tourney with my last hand being AA vs J2 ...
anyways, i think i'll be moving up after i get another $150 or so from nl10, and i hope to do well in nl25, even though its extremely hard right now.
moving down
Zalfor, Dec 22 2008
after losing 8 BIs in nl25, i've moved back down to nl10, and i'm 9 tabling nl10 again.
its hard to swallow the hit to my pride, but i'm going to persevere.
i am up like 7BIs in nl10 right now, and i'll try to climb back up to nl25.
Super Heater
Zalfor, Dec 17 2008
although i realize i am totally not rolled to play 10/25
i couldn't help myself.
so other than getting bad beat and tilting a bit (-100 out of my 250 BR), i started playing 4 tables of 6max nl25. Strangely enough, I got nice heaters, mostly bluffing people and playing solidly. So now, i'm at 430 ish on my bankroll for a net gain of around 170 for the day. =)
hopefully i can play enough so i'm actually rolled for nl25 (i hate playing underrolled...)
the main thing is that i'm actually earning VPPs, whereas on nl10, i earned like no VPPs, but now i'm almost on my way to silver star!
i really hope this continues >.
So far
Zalfor, Dec 15 2008
So i've been playing at nl5 and nl10 for the past week now, and i've finally reached the bankroll amount of $250
i actually tilted and played some nl50 6 max, and did pretty well until i played 2 pair vs flopped flush.
anyways, heres my graph for so far and hopefully i can continue grinding nl10 and move on to nl25 soon.

Restart
Zalfor, Dec 13 2008
So after tilting really hard 3 months ago and losing all the BR I had garnered from previous posts, I'm back to basics on Pstars with 210 in BR playing nl10.
*sigh* i tilted my first two 50 dollar buys, but i'm back to 200 so i'm currently running a profit of 8 dollars.
I gotta stop playing Razz and SnGs and focus on the cash game. I don't seem to be winning SnGs and Razz as much as i think i am...
i got into a really good heater today, up like ~7-8 BIs for 3k hands or so, so I'm running pretty well today. hopefully tommorow is equally good.
