current goal reached
rockman255, Jul 12 2008
well, a couple days ago i said i wanted to reach $600 before i went ahead with nl25 but i feel that ive ran too good and didn't get enough practice in. however, i will probably still go ahead with it before too long. im just a little concerned that im moving too quickly if i go now.
i think i will set a goal of 1500(60BI,30BI for NL50) for NL25, just so i can slow myself down a little and get back into a groove

my overall run from monday to saturday is here, including the horrendous first two days back i ran 8.2bb/100 over 15,231 hands

another sick day @@
rockman255, Jul 11 2008

to take a meaningless quote from my favorite movie, "but the good times couldn't last forever"
im waiting for it to be over and now am growing increasingly concerned that im just on a huge lucky streak and not learning anything
..edit.. i almost forgot, i hit this really sick hand where i was playing limpy like i was talking about in my last blog post. i misplayed it terribly but i limped into the nut 9-K straight WITH the royal flush draw against a guy who had decided to limp KK for set value and hit his set
its my second royal this week..

oh. ive also decided to mute other users on pokerstars entirely as ive found conversations end up tilting me a small percentage of the time and having no real positive effect otherwise. it was also suggested to me that i should also muting myself to prevent me from being tempted
grinding away [nl10]...
rockman255, Jul 11 2008
so, here i am on a so-called regular day, im up like 6.15 over 1,213 hands and running 2.5PTBB/100 at the moment. im kind of in a crabby mood from this because of a few hands i terribly misplayed but at the same time i am happy because i am still beating the limits(god forbid i cant beat nl10, right?)
anyway, heres what i perceive to be massive crushing errors i made where i lost something like 100BB in each situation; i guess given how obvious the first and third are, i should be happy with my play today as long as i can correct retarded errors.
ive also noticed im developing some bad habits like floating around in unraised pots a lot more than i should be, although it seems to be kind of profitable to mine for sets and straights in nl10 because people constantly give you great odds postflop, raising for amounts like 10-25% of the pot very consistently. i need to kill this bad habit but i guess as long as im aware of it. and the damage it can cause, as below.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/482462 (the millionth time i learn my lesson not to play connectors in the play-your-cards NL10 bracket)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/482425 (arguably not a terrible fold based on only knowing that the repopper was a huge station with like 20VPIP 2PFR <1AF)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/482401 (as played i 4bet 3.30 or so and called allin, failing to improve against AA)
sick good day o_O

poker: the bipolar sport.
i had 2 -2.5BI days on monday and umm, wednesday or something. and felt like shit.
and then today i ran good and here i am. except im not ecstatic or anything. its umm, the attribution error where i think im responsible for doing good so im not happy for being lucky. anyway, i hope i dont get doomswitched and hope i meet my $600 goal soon. ($418 now)

a new trajectory
rockman255, Jul 10 2008
i had an okay day today, so it probably helps me to write now so i have some idea where im headed.
the thing that really threw me off was that i broke my shoulder and got a non-serious back injury that are still quite inhibiting.. but i think im ready to start again; i really need to consider this as a new beginning and be humble about where i'm at
i made a few posts on the low stakes forum to get an idea of how to be extracting value from stronger hands; i think aside from that my weakest plays are dead obvious ones that i should be able to cut out.
perhaps i was trying a little too hard to outplay people in my first few days where at nl10 (sigh) i should just be playing my cards face up. i need to go back to basics and realize that as i slowly go up the limits i will need to adjust my game accordingly and for now i need to really go back to basics and just grind it out.
anyway, hopefully i can maintain something like 5ptbb/100 and go ahead with nl10, stopping for the day if i lose ~3BI from what i started at. i am starting around a $350 bankroll so maybe i should wait until something like $600, +25BI, before increasing limits since im so damn 'green' right now.
i must say that no matter what ive posted about on the hand analysis all of you guys have been really helpful and i appreciate any response i get, it always helps me get a very quick very good idea of how i should be acting in certain situations and makes it easy to correct myself.
if anyones still reading now you guys rule. hopefully ill post more later, until then good luck
return......

im trying to come back to poker after a fractured spine and broken shoulder.. heres how the first two days went

...... my self esteem is lower than it was two days ago!
>.<
it was kind of like, play 10% of hands, get aces/kings 5 times a session, see 1 flop, get a set flopped under me, go allin preflop with ak vs qq, lose, go allin with qq vs ak, lose, and then tilt off my last 5 dollars and quit for the day
i guess if this has a major negative psychological effect on me i shouldnt be playing, right?
anot new trance/progressive mix..><..
rockman255, Jun 22 2008
well.. ever since i broke my shoulder i havent really got back to poker, i have been kind of too much on edge to really play, and the one day i did play, i got really deep into a tournament, went in with about a top 2 pair vs overpair... and got drawn out on, which i realise is not that bad, but anyway.. it put me even worse on edge, so im just taking a break for now i guess @.@
being gimpy is like, really really frustrating at times. and im not even that gimpy, i have use of my right wrist at least. i cant even imagine how it would be to completely have your arm from shoulder to fingers in a cast, or something ridiculous like that.
anyway, im kind of just a big vegetable for the time being but im able to pursue other hobbies.. house music :O
so, here's the next mix. trance and progressive
only download it if you think you'll like it :O

so, last week i had a seizure at work, got rushed to the hospital, had another seizure, almost turned into a vegetable but miraculously came out of it with nothing but a fractured right shoulder. of course, its still a bitch, but id rather be typing with my left hand than dead. (lol?) and my back hurts. i might have to take some time off poker. oh well. i was hospitalized last sunday, let out of neuro icu on tuesday and came home on sunday. (today.)
so.. fu bitches i live to play shitty lowstakes poker another day :-)

please download this only if you actually enjoy house music; last month i had some complaints about overusing the community bandwidth
it has a tendency to be more towards the progressive and electro sound of todays so-called house

well, i monkey tilted off 25% of my stack at the wrong limit on saturday but then on sunday instead of playing poker i went to toronto to club guvernment with some buddies where i saw paul van dyk and eddie halliwell.. it was a good night, the opener was mark oliver as usual from like 10-1, 1-3 pvd, 3-X eddie. a good night. hopefully i can relax and not go super donkey tilt anytime soon, then.
i highly recommend club guvernment to anybody who visits canada and/or toronto. there were over 5000 in attendance ibelieve, you can get anything you need inside ^^ and well.. thats all there is to know
