i'm actually kinda curious though for ppl that train this way. there is no doubt that this kind of training would shred you up ridic and improve cardiovascular extremely well but it seems pretty terrible for lean muscle mass gains unless you were a beginner. thoughts? |
Yup, definitely, pumping heavy weights in short series and separating muscles groups is way more effective in term of pure mass gain. No doubt. I think that training is very effective though when you are in the fat loss period where you want to do as much cardio as possible to get ripped, I see two advantages: Training your muscles and thus reduce the inevitable loss during diet and it seems very tough on the heart (fractionned exercices are always tough cardio wise). I'm pretty sure he did not build that body on this training alone, you'd be far from that kind of result w/o a good classical weight lifting....
Very nice if you already did the mass gaining phase and want to get ripped fast, I'm probably gonna give it a try

yeah, those are basically my thoughts exactly. it seems this type of training always pops up when there are movies/tv where ppl need to be jacked on a large scale and FAST. i also completely agree that it's misleading when you see that trainer in the video or the actors on tv/movie. #1 they are actors and always need to be in good shape and have movie star genetics. #2 to be casted they probably are already jacked or close to it (using standard bodybuilding splits most likely as you said). then a month before shooting everyone gets ridic shredded doing this and cardio 7x a week eating nothing but fish, chicken, brown rice, broccoli, w/e. add in some strategic spray tanning and makeup and you got a gladiator movie. |
