I think Sweden or Canada will win. USA can't win a final unless it is against Soviet Russia.

i give jagr credit he got right back up and didnt miss a shift and played well after getting a scoring chance
tough day for him though since 1st goal he was in the box and then this led to a goal

Since US was top seed and Canada would be lowest of teams making semis if everyone wins their games

I think USA would lose to Sweden and have it real tough vs Finland (i think they would lose) and Czech would be tough (could squeek out a win) and somehow beat Russia since Russia always shits the bag vs USA for some reason. USA is physical (except vs Canada obv..only guy was Orpik who should have 90 pims of clutch and grab cuz he cant skate) and Russia doesnt liek that (aka Malkin is a giant human zamboni)

But we shall wait and see....either way even a US fan has to be excited to potentially see Russia vs Canada just for the names that will be on the ice. Nothing can compare

LOL you canadian... we just whooped you hard at your own game. I have played hockey forever and cannot believe that our young guns, who shouldnt match up at all beat the canadian team. Miller stood on his head for that entire game. Anyways i agree we can beat russia if miller plays that way for sure. Sweden will be a tough game for sure. We can beat Czechs and the Canadians if we play that well again

Yes you whooped us. I didn't know that playing 70% of the game inside your own blueline being beat into the boards, out-shot 45-21, and out-chanced 23-11 was a whooping. It was men vs. children out there. Canada dominated the game and came up short. In large part because Brodeur played very badly (and also apparently thought he was playing baseball wtf) and Miller was excellent. Full credit for winning but at least be realistic. If you were to run a simulation with those above statistics 10 times Canada would probably win 7 or 8 times out of 10. The Americans were lucky to win in a game where they were badly outplayed, end of story. That's why in one game eliminations anyone can win. Sometimes the worse team sucks out and wins the game.

My predictions for each teams chance at winning Gold:
1. Sweden 40%
2. Canada 35%
3. Russia 30%
4. USA 20%

Sweden has an easy draw and should make it to the finals unless they embarrass themselves. Canada's performance last night makes me feel very good about their chances and Luongo starting from here on out makes me feel even better. Russia will be very difficult and I'm sure they're pissed to have to play us before the Gold medal game because it significantly reduces their chances of getting there. USA will likely struggle in their quarterfinal and struggle to even win a medal, but they do have at least a 1/5 shot of going all the way. They aren't a bad team, but they certainly aren't better than any of the top 3 mentioned.

I'd say in a one game series the chances of Canada winning vs. the USA are probably something like 70-75%. We did dominate the game. We did rape you.

45-21 in shots doesn't mean anything to me you're right, shots don't win games.

23-11 in scoring chances does mean something to me. Scoring chances almost always decide the game. The Americans were lucky, and MILLER was very good. He is currently the best goaltender in the world and nobody with half a hockey-brain would debate that. He could even take you all the way.

However if you ran those stats in 10 games straight, Canada would probably win 7 or 8 of the games. Your team was dominated but they happened to win. Full marks for winning but by no means did you outplay Canada. You got your ass kicked and pulled of a win. Sometimes it happens. They weren't lucky in the sense that it was a fluke victory. They were lucky in the sense that when you're that badly outplayed you lose the game 90%+ of the time.

Honestly Nolan here is the equivalent of your argument:

USA is better than Canada because you beat them one time in a game where you were badly outplayed.

You must also think 1010 is better than AA all-in pre-flop because you sucked out one time in a hand where you lose 80% of the time. Then you go on to debate about how you out-played the guy with 1010 because you happened to win the hand.

That's the argument your making. Suggesting that USA is somehow better than Canada at hockey is just retarded. Canada is the best in the world. Why do you think it feels so good when you beat us? Sometimes we lose, but we sure as fuck are the favorite every time we play. We've only one what 5 of the last 6 World Jr. Golds? Then on top of that 2nd place in pretty much every other tournament for the last 10 years. Even though its a single elimination tournament and the reality is each team probably only had a 40% chance of winning at the start of the tournament? We're not cocky. We're just the best at this sport. Russia is a close 2nd. That's just the reality.

I live in Canada. In case you didn't know hockey is our religion here. I've sat 5 rows from the ice at over 500 NHL games here in Ottawa and been playing it my whole life.

I've grown up watching every single one of these players. I'm passionate about hockey and I love it. In my life the most important things to me are Family + Friends, Home, Health, and Hockey + Sports in general. These are the cornerstones that make me want to get up every morning. Things I always look forward too.

You can try and demean me for being passionate and knowledgeable about a sport that's been a huge part of my life but really you just come off as a jackass who apparently needs to try and be cool on the internet. I bet you watch a bunch of youtube videos all day and comment about how lame you think they are. Wow you're so cool.
