bah. he's trying his best to achieve his dream to be a pokerstars pro. what he lacks in skill he's making up for a good work ethic and some 'marketing' skills.
i know some of you really really really want to be a pokerstars pro deep inside tho you wouldn't admit it... some of you even thought it will actually happen to you just like fossilman or greg raymer. but it didn't happen.
then comes this guy chiren who's showing everyone what he wants and is trying his hardest to get it... but why is everyone bashing him/wanting him to fail? some of you get pleasure out of it, i'm sure.

Athene's videos averaged over 1,000,000 views per video back in the day and his current videos still get 50,000-100,000 views. Does anyone here really think pokerstars gives a fuck that he is only a .35bb winner at nl100? Yes, he is only getting sponsored because of his "following" and not because of his poker skills and it's understandable how annoying that is especially considering how annoying a lot of his videos are. In the end pokerstars is a business and they will make the best business decisions. It's the same reason why I have to constantly hear about Jon and Kate Gosselin 24/7 or who Tiger Woods is currently sleeping with.
he used to be funny back in the day. saw him featured on attack of the show doing the exact same thing but only for WoW months ago, doing some sort of reality show and urging his "fans" to support him, he was also doing the exact same shit e.g. tania gf, furious(shirtless guy) and some other actors. really hilarious and i really followed it for months - good entertainment
it got old and i drew the line once he starting to switch "off character" along with furious and become serious about his poker dreams telling people to email stars,
im like, try to get beter at poker like the rest of us, coz there's no way ur freerolling ur way through that one at our expense sorry LOL
2p2 had a lot of new accounts with 10 or less posts (prob his WoW horde) too. i dunno if this is good for poker or not (obv stars will love this), coz all these guys are fuck-ass crazy grinders for free, god knows how they will grind poker when money's involved

pokerstars marketing dude. and i def think he will freeroll his way to poker stardom. and i don't know if you can call it freerolling tho... he def put in some effort and some creativity in being noticed by his prospective future sponsors.

It's only the really hardcore WoW players who grind all day and even those guys wouldn't necessarily be good grinders in poker. It's not like Athene/Chiren is your average Joe... He's a top gamer and the kind of guy who would do good in anything he puts his mind to, same as Elky, Rekrul, Naz and all the other top players from starcraft here. Athene represents 0.01% of the WoW community, he's the exception not the norm. Most of the other WoW players are just as likely to be poker fish as anyone else.

Seriously Athene was NOT good at WoW, his teams were shit and got stomped on many occasions, comparing him to top starcraft players is beyond ridiculous, especially seeing that SC is actually a skill based game where WoW is a rock-paper-scissor-fotm shitfest.
he flew to isle of mann coz he didnt get the pro status when it was announced, he wants to hand it over to scotty personally.
yeah i think he will probably get it coz it will encourage a lot of new players to the site, i give him props for doing much better in his first attempt at poker ( started at january, marginally winning or breaking 24tabling even playing over 2million hands to date ). which is really remarkable for a first timer just when 100nl FR got a bit tougher with all the 200 and 400 guys going for SNE moving down there.

i think he got staked in the beginning, coz i i recall he instantly jumped to 100nl starting jan, so i think he kinda lied about that
wow players are definitely sick grinders. i wouldnt categorize them as total fish when they populate poker too, id take recreational players over those guys

He grinded from 2NL. He was never staked lol.
Anyways update: He went to isle of man and handed the application in person. He said PS has allowed them to release the footage so they'll put up a clip tomorrow.
