wow thats pretty fuckin hard to lie than, cross examine by a lawyer and a pychologist. the biggest problem was choosing a wrong major to go into. Im not a selfish guy so i tend to make my parents somewhat happy even though i might be less happy of what im doing but its not like i will be super sad by choosing a mutual way, its just it wouldnt be my first choice. lucky for me they don't mind me playing poker. How long do you see yourself playing poker 5years, 10years 20 years? I can't see them accepting you being a poker since you are coming from a prominent family and most smart rich family are very stubborn.

if you are a gambler i might tell your dad you want to commit suicide telling him you hate school and don't want to disappoint him by playing poker and stressing the hell out atm??? would this be an option cuz i don't see anything eles working. suicide might be too extreme but i don't know this is a pretty bad situation.

I see myself playing poker for the forseeable future, like as long as I am making a good enough living at it I want to play it. So for arguments sake we'll say 25 years. I am thinking right now I may try and say I want to get a PhD in biology and am taking time off to have fun before going to school. I may be able to pull this off because I can say I dropped the masters because it's extra work which I don't need.

I'm not sure about my family money.

My dad probably has about half a mil saved up, standard imo

Mom is poor and in debt because teachers don't get paid jack fucking shit.

Grandma on my dad side is avg money, nothing big. But the rest of my dads family are all millionaires.

The road to wealth in america is prestigious private schools that set you up for prestigious undergrad -> prestigious undergrad -> prestigious high paying job or prestigious grad school then prestigious high paying job. The system locks you out of the process if you break the "prestigious" chain. For the vast majority of us it begins when we are 5 and go to first grade at our crappy underfunded public schools. The prestigious private undergraduate schools then scoff at our marks because they were obtained at the crappy public schools.

You were born into the gated community and the good life. You were born in a position to take advantage of the system. Why on earth would you throw it all away? Lets get real: most mid-stakers make what a teacher would make. Even if you manage to improve and succeed you'll still only make a fraction of what you could have otherwise. Your background and family connections set you up for higher level positions.

Poker is a profession for (1) Poor people or (2) Degenerates. I don't know a single serious poker player who doesn't fit either or both of these. I fall flatly into (1). The first day I made over 100 dollars I shit my pants thinking about how rich I was. I only play now so I don't have to be a waiter. Other players here play because their only options are quite literally mcdonalds or manual labor.

Almost all of us will never obtain what you already have handed to you. Even the luckiest of us who have scored donkament wins still earned less in our donkament win years than your father does on an average year.

Take the +EV route 8). If you like the game play on the side or on weekends.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.

Oh. I was somewhat mistaken then. My bad! I guess you're standard middle class.

Ball til you fall then.

My father is not rich, he's a standard prosecuting attorney because he turned down a corporate lawyer job long ago due to him having a soul. He makes like 80-100k a year (has varied jobs so varied income) and that's what he has made for like 20 years now. I just assume he has a ton of money saved because I calculated that he only spends like 30k a year tops, so he has been putting away like 40+k a year for about 20 years now. My uncle and aunt and cousins are all corporate attorneys but my dad burned those bridges a while ago. I also hate the corporate lawyer elitist snobs in my family so much, they are close to the worst people I have ever met. I never ever want to become a lawyer or elite snob like them.

I think that the real question here is what type of life you want to live. If money is a really big deal for you -if you need to be winning at least 500k/y at a steady rate then you shouldn't even consider dropping out. The main problem with poker is that it is not consistent, meaning you can have good and bad months, for now that you have no obligations like family and such it might sound great but when you decide to settle down this can and will be a major problem.

I really hope those reflections help a bit. Good luck with your decision.

Don't underestimate the price of whores !!!

What about being a teacher ? I don't know a lot about studies in US. But I mean, being a teacher can be great and you have free time to play poker and thus have a nice extra income with poker.

sorry for shitty english.

Your choice what you want to do, you just have to think of the long term, will you be happy in say 15 years if your making like 1-200k a year maybe more in poker, will you still like the game then ? Maybe finishing a 4th year wouldn't be bad for something to fall back on ? keep both parties involved happy?>
