i wouldn't say sc2 is a bad game, its a good game because there is no originality or gameplay innovations to it, making it the same game as brood war except with the matchmaking/graphical improvements.

anyway hopefully diablo 3 will actually have some gameplay improvements on diablo 2. i already know its going to have a shit storyline

D1 > D2 and probably D3 will be worse.


I mean obviously D2 has infinitely more options and its a bigger game etc, however the atmosphere is much more childish than the dark feel D1 gave.

indeed, diablo 1 had a really awesome gothic feel to it. I remember when diablo 2 came out i thought it lost it's gothic feel to it, but the gameplay was much more addictive.

hah I still remember when I was playing d1 alone, i was just 11... whenever someone from my family made some small noise it would scare the shit out of me

In what way does D2 have more options than D3?

D3 looks freaking awesome. I agree that D1 have an awesome atmosphere and hopefully D3 will be able to somewhat copy that.

And the wow hate is getting really old. It's not wow. It resembles so many other ARPG's more than wow the only connection is the company.

Or maybe it's just that when D1 came out you were far younger and had never played a game like that. In terms of atmosphere i've known people to play it the other way around and felt D2 was far creepier. D3 will be very successful and anyone who's a fan of the series will enjoy it i'm sure. Your interpretation of worse holds true for yourself and select others. But i doubt it will be proven upon release.

Excellent point Fox, there's a lot of things (games included) which I thought were the nuts when I was younger, but when I experienced them again they were considerably worse. ;-0 D1 was the first real time RPG I ever played, but no way it can compare to today's games

before blizzard releases a game there are 2 types of people : ones that think it will suck and ones that think it will be the most game in the genre
after the game comes out there are only people that think it rocks

still lots of people who think bw > sc2.

D3 is something entirely new and as it looks now, alot better than D2.

Stop trying imagining how the "old days" were such much better. People we're complaining how the new Duke Nukem sucked balls compared to the old one... It did suck balls, but try and play the old one..

Wow when D3 comes out, it seems the games are going to get significantly softer

The difference between Blizzard and other games when it comes to expectations is that thousands of people get to play Blizzard games before beta at their Blizzcon events. Almost every big name PC magazine / reviewer says D3 is amazing and other says that the 20-minute demo wasn't enough to fully review it.

I do wish it had a darker atmosphere but this is still the #1 game I'm looking forward to.

no i didnt play D1 when it came out but much later, its not hard to see just go back and see D1 it has a much more serious atmosphere, D2 has childish things like some "Spells", for example the barbarian whirlwind etc, those are just silly .

D1 is very creepy and its only limited by its graphic resources, some of the wild colored monsters were more because of this limitations than pure intent.

D3 is crap, weapons now have a purple glow, spells are so bright and colorful than a battle looks like a fucking rainbow, the graphics are aimed to look cartoonish (like WC3 or WoW), and its a shame because with todays technology and resources the story and monster development will be very good but it totally lacks the darkness the original Diablo had, and its not the standard nostalgia speaking i am not a nostalgic person at all.

I feel so hopeless knowing that when this game releases i'll be playing a ton, i've been avoiding good games for awhile now... but it's impossible for me to avoid playing D3 T_T

sorta wish they didn't add all that extra PvP (arena matches and stuff), i'll get hooked on it.

Wasn't there this big petition by fans bout making D3 darker?

Most of the footage in the game is from the first act, and they want the game to get progressively darker as you get further into it. I think they will probably have it pretty dark, toward the last few acts, like they normally do. Since they been aware of it for so many years, by raging fans.

Loved Diablo 1, but felt Diablo 2 delivered a lot more, the trailers in between the acts was sick (atleast at the time, not seen them in many years). And you got so addicted to mf'ing and scamming people.

I kinda took a liking to SC2 after restarting it 10 times, still, it's no Sc, it's just a replicate with sick AI and to smooth colors, I get annoyed at lots of weird stuff. You attack with a max army, it's just a big blob, each time "pro commentators" comment, and it's a ZvZ battle, no1's got a clue what's going on till it's over (I'm over exagerrating a little).

But being extremly picky, and comparing it to sc1 now. Most games kinda fade to Blizzard games unfortunatly. Although Heroes 2, 3 doesnt =p

i got to agree with baal. At the current rate, diablo 4 is going to look like darwinia. anyway i dont think the diablo series losing its gothic feel will be too bad. We will just have to appreciate it as a different game. I think blizzard lost a lot of their good game developers over the years. It sucks that they dont have matt ulemen anymore
