Risk is not equivalent to gambling. Gambling is a specific kind of risk which involves the possibility of reward. Unlike other forms of risk-taking like crossing the street it is entirely optional because it is possible to live without gambling, just like it is possible to live without drinking alcohol. You might as well be an alcoholic who says, "drinking non-alcoholic things also has its dangers" to justify drinking alcohol.
