I don't know a lot about Burns but I don't know man. After Lawler, two Thompson fights and Till, you just never know with Woodley.

I wonder if woobly will be as passive and boring when he is not defending a title.. probalby he will.

Without the title he'll be more aggressive, I think. Since he's chasing it.

There are two different mindsets with going after the title and having the title. I think the latter would tend to make some fighters more defensive/passive/play it safe.

i have no idea who like half the people on this card are.

i'd imagine burn's explosiveness will play into tyron's strengths since he's been counter heavy his last few fights, but really depends on which tyron shows up on saturday

woodley ? burns
sakai > ivanov
dern > cifers
chookagian > shev (although would be funny if chookagian lost to both sisters)

Can one of the moderators change the title for the following UFC threads? Thank you:

Change the Woodley/Burns thread to: UFC on ESPN 9: Woodley vs. Burns

And change the Overeem/Harris thread to: UFC on ESPN 8: Overeem vs. Harris

Holland parlay with in the 1st?

I wonder if Ivanov stayed in the US for the past few months or was back here. There's no way he trained properly here unless he has a private gym at his own house

1. Kevin Holland pulled out yesterday (May 26) due to a shoulder injury in the gym.
2. Gabriel Green replaced him on the same day.
3. Gabriel Green is a 155`er going to 170 on 3-days notice.
4. People expect Daniel Rodriguez to beat Green, and beat him by TKO.
5. Green is 9-2, and all of his wins and losses have ended ITD. This fight card is at the UFC APEX, and they use a 25-foot cage in the APEX instead of the usual 30-foot cage that we see during PPV events. The 25-foot cage means more action and more finishes, so I expect Green vs. Rodriguez to end ITD for multiple reasons.

Ivanov has been training at Extreme Couture in Las Vegas with Francis Ngannou. Ivanov helped Ngannou train for his win over Rozenstruik.

I still like Sakai over Ivanov.

Are you now leaning Woodley with the smaller cage?

Nope.

I still think Woodley can only win if he lands clean with his overhand right. If he doesn't, then he should lose.

I seriously don't understand the people who keep saying Woodley has the better striking. It makes no sense.

Also, people keep talking about this being a 5-round fight and Burns has cardio issues. Well, Woodley isn't any better with his cardio, which is why he likes to keep his back against the cage and scare people with the threat of his overhand right -- as long as you stay on the outside, Woodley gets to rest against the cage and not be forced to use any energy until he explodes on you (he literally explodes off of the cage and runs at you with a few punches that aren't technical at all, but will hurt if they hit you).

Woodley's wrestling won't be an issue here, as it takes energy to take someone down, and Woodley has shown he will get tired just from being on top of you without him or you doing any damage.

I'm going to add more on Burns on Friday, once I see what his point spread will open at on 5dimes.

I was just thinking with Woodley being the more explosive fighter, the smaller cage could be to his advantage.

If Woodley didn't always put his back against the cage, then the cage size might come into play.

Since he stands against the cage, the size of the cage won't matter since he doesn't push forward. He allows his opponents to always be the aggressor, and he just tries to counter them when they come in. He did the same thing in his loss to Usman -- Usman was ready for this, so he just closed the distance, which greatly reduced the amount of times that Woodley was able to throw his overhand right.

Ok, that makes sense. I don't know a lot about Burns though. Does he have the ability to do it like Usman? Cos Usman is huge, I don't think a lot of fighters could do Woodley like he did.

If Burns was able to do what Usman did, then Burns wouldn't be a +160 underdog at the books.

Burns and Usman are nothing alike.

Also, Usman opened as a +105 underdog and closed as a +165 underdog against Woodley, which was crazy. All of us who were confident in Usman ended up making a lot of profit.
