So I've finally tried playing bots again and this time they are way, way better than ever. I haven't won a single game (D, D-, D+ prob 2007 iccup) against these updated bots compared to last time where I could beat every single one. I've also found out how to play bots the easy way, all you need are three things: droplauncher, bw 1.16.1 (thru abyss download), and the bot files (.dll and others that come with it).

Easier way to play scai bots:

Download 3 things:

*Bots and their BWAPIs (both .dlls, some bots have extra files include those) - https://sscaitournament.com/index.php?action=scores

*Bw 1.16.1 version - https://starcraft.theabyss.eu/?files (also download mappacks because some maps are ther like fighting spirit)

1.Run droplauncher then in settings menu point to starcraft.exe

2.Then in the edit menu point all bot files for each bot you wanna play. Different bots have differing BWAPIs mind you, some have extra one or two files include those in pointing. Droplauncher will ask you the race, bot file and, bwapi versions, set those correctly to get the max ability of the bot

3. Create a melee game in starcraft, then go to droplauncher and join. If everything is set up correctly the droplauncher window will display initializing processes and the last portion will be it setting the race to number "x"

Thoughts on the bots skill level:

It's improved by so much I haven't taken a game off the bots I've played so far: Iron Bot and Locutus Bot (T and P). They are no longer "dumb" and don't engage badly or force the action when outnumbered or outpowered. They also like to micro tease and avoid contact only when they have diminished health, so goons can own your lings really hard if you're used to just throwing them out there. Their micro is not perfect yet but they will right click or shift move towards your tanks or structures so turtling isn't going to wipe out a ton of units no more. They will also macro up pretty fast in a 12 minute game the computer had 8 bases vs me while keeping me busy by harrassing my front. It also built tons of gateways when resources allow it. Lots of fun/frustration lol this ain't easy anymore.

I just jumped in the discord. I starting playing when remastered came out again and got decent but then stopped playing much. WC3 is the game I play more and am relatively a lot better at despite liking sc1 as much if not more. My hands just aren't fast enough. I think i got near 1,900 mmr or so. I'd be down to gamble on some games if you guys are settling in crypto. Some 2v2s would prob be fun.

I just haven't had hardly any time to play lately but I will try to join in at some point

cant get droplauncher to work, having problems with java runtime. dont really see any FAQ covering this, did you just download, unzip, run, and it worked immediately/

yeah but you have to disable any kind of windows defender, avast program since it really doesn't trust how java does its business. plus if you have to redo it, delete everything you extracted and do everythign clean, with a non-firewalled or anti-virus enabled computer since some files have been quarantined already. If Java errors are the only problem then this fixes it, but remember to do a clean install of droplauncher and remove the old directory
