what would be funny to happen is:

Khabib completely destroys McGregor
and Pettis completely destroys Ferguson....

so then we should theoretically have McGregor basically be out of the lightweight belt bout and he d either have to finish his trio with Diaz, fight for featherweight belt or fight Ferguson for title shot

also if Khabib wins there is a good chance he will retire undefeated, unless GSP fights him for a super fight

how old is Khabib? It would be pretty lame if he wins and retires especially with the way he got the belt. He should at least fight 1 #1 LW contender otherwise people will always call him a paper champ even if he wins this weekend

it's hilarious that Nate is getting all this attention. Any top 10 fighter now with enough cardio can beat the living shite out of him. He is only a nightmare for Conor because he is tall, super-durable, relentless and throws nonstop. Nate gets hit a lot in fights and is a walking CTE model

McGregor vs Ferguson would be such an epic fight, actually I think its a harder match than Khabib, Ferguson is quite similar to Nate but better in almost all aspects

The only thing I find similar in them is that they both have really really good cardio. Besides that, they fight quite differently

Conor, Pettis, Reyes.

Re-watching several of Conor's fight motions gave me more of an appreciation of Conor's precision. So many of his shots land so perfectly low on the jaw.

Khabib's TD strength is in him pressuring people near to the cage and getting in on them near the cage where he's nearly unstoppable. His actual takedowns in space though aren't overly extraordinary.

People like to point to the fact that Khabib almost immediately walked down a dangerous striker in Barboza and Barboza couldn't do anything about it. Barboza's strengths are in his kicks. Countering a forward pressure grappler with a precision kick is a lot more difficult than a counter left. And Conor has the best single counter shot in the world. Khabib obv knows this and also won't be willing to put himself out there right away on this massive stage to possibly get counter KO'd in the first 10 sec like Aldo did.

I think Conor takes control of the center of the cage right away and Khabib has to play his game longer than people think. Then some version of what happened to Eddie where Khabib's standing in front of Conor too long without fully realizing it.

Alvarez: “What was unique about fighting him, something I maybe haven’t felt before, was he has this calmness that kind of hypnotizes you into feeling calm, and safe.

“So, rather than going in there and moving like I normally do, I feel his calmness made me feel like, “Oh, I’m not in danger. He feels fine, I feel safe.” He does this good job of hypnotizing you into this relaxed state, and then striking quickly.”

Healthy, 100% Ferguson probably batters Pettis. But I don't think anyone can really guarantee if that Ferguson shows up. His body's been through a lot. Pettis also looked rejuvenated and has too much natural talent for me not to want to bet him as a 3:1 dog. Could totally see a flash submission from the bottom against an overly confident Ferguson.

Reyes even at 2:1. OSP is going to fold under the pressure/power of Reyes

The more I think about the fight the more I agree with what Iakim just said. Khabib's TD's are a result of the clinch, which he usually initiate by getting opponents up against the fence and offbalance. In order to get the fight there, he's going to need to hold his own on the feet and create chaos and move Conor backward. I don't think hes a good enough to do that. I do think there is a chance Khabib actually lands something big.

I would guess after this camp that Conor's TDD is good enough to force Khabib to atleast work relatively hard for it - but that's speculation. He was hurt (torn ACL I believe) and not as seasoned in the Mendes fight, but some of the TD's Mendes landed were way to easy, and Khabib is obv a step-up in terms of size and strength. So if Khabib can get a hold of him at all, it's really anyones guess how much resistance Conor will be able to levy.

And ofcourse the X-Factor is the mentality and moment. There is no question that Conor has the edge here. If Khabib is as confident and ice-blooded as he claims and is portrayed to be maybe it's a wash, but I doubt it. And that shit really seems to matter more than any of the more tangible things you can weigh in fights like this.

I think if Khabib survives first two rounds he will win. Would be really bad if Khabib lets him take the center right away, but then again I dont think he can stop him in any way

Hope Pettis comes back in his previous shape, he s probably the fighter I enjoyed most watching, cause he can do random shit out of nowhere and end the fight. Guy survived 5 rounds against the most beast mode RDA has ever been in, so huge respect

edit:

Actually I don't think you guys realize that Khabib has never been challenged, he has never lost a single round in the UFC. It doesnt fucking matter who he fought, its not like they were bad fighters. He got rocked by MJ for about 5seconds and then he completely demolished him again. Conor as good as he is , has never faced someone like Khabib. This fight is gonna be fucking insane imo.

granite chinned, high volume-low strenght long strikers with so-so wrestling but good bjj and insane cardio.

Sure their striking style is totally different but they are overall the same kind of fighter

The ONLY thing I'm concerned about is cardio. If he looks good past the 3rd round if ever it gets to that then I'm all-in on Conar. Remember this is a guy who's trained his hands for six months preparing for arguably the best boxer in the world. If anything his boxing has improved even more, so closing that gap without getting clipped is going to be really tough.

I totally did not expect Evinger to fall victim to Ladd's GnP...

Evinger is old and was coming back from a knee injury, so maybe that had something to do with it.
