Just saw the earlier responses, I love my PC build. I play mostly TeamFortress2 these days which makes my system total overkill (my last PC ran this game fine at 1080p/60fps) , but when I do hit Battlefield4 it runs beautifully. I bought FarCry4 but havent even ran it yet.
As far as ram goes, you will see absolutely zero performance gain from 8GB to 32GB. Literally none whatsoever unless you were doing some very very particular purpose with it, like SQL database stuff or something. And no your HM2 database doesnt count.
Same thing with that xeon CPU. That is a server CPU dude, you will also see absolutely zero gain using that over an i7 for gaming, poker, photoshop, movies, day to day tasks, etc.
Finally the video card you spec'd is fine and all, but there is a noticeable performance gap between the GTX 960 and 970. You say you dont game so I'm not sure why you are even looking at GTX cards in the first place. What do you do? If you just grind and watch netflix then you can get away with integrated graphics straight off the motherboard.
As far as the i5 vs i7 debate, the thing is in order to get an i5 to behave like an i7 you have to invest in components to stabilize the overclock. CPU cooler, premium ram, premium motherboard, etc etc etc. Quite often you end up spending close to as much as you would have on an i7 in the first place. At least with the i7 you get peace of mind knowing you dont need to fuck with it to get it to do what you want, and it has the added lifespan to overclock too. |

its the cheapest 8core available, are you saying theres no performance gain for gto solvers in comparison with 4core for half price? seems absurd. i could get
Intel Core i7-5930K which is a little bit cheaper but according to cpuboss.com its close
960 is the cheapest card with dp2.0 which supports ultrahd and 4 monitors
you are also wrong, i ve had 10GB tree a couple of times, which is not gonna happen with 8GB ram obv. and i dont care if i get 16 or 32GB, so why not? |

I dont know anything about GTO solvers or their requirements. As for running 4k resolution then yea stick to the GTX line of GPU's, but if you're trying to game at 4k then the 960 or even 970 wont cut it. You will need to absolute best Titan GPU available for that, good thing is if you save $300 on that xeon cpu then you can put that towards a better GPU. |

that i7 is more expensive than xeon, anyway money is not the issue, but its needless to get a better gpu

You can get really quiet fan based systems too but they'll make more noise during gaming etc than watercooling I believe. That said. my setup barely makes any extra noise during gaming.. prob the quietest fan based setup I've ever had, stock intel cpu cooler + nvidia 750 ti running on SSD too. Nothing too impressive but quiet and works fine for me. |
