I have a smaller winrate at NL100 now than I did at NL2000 say 5 or 6 years ago, and I doubt it's because of me getting worse

It's fun reading this since it's only 6 months ago. I did quit poker full-time at the end of the year and went out searching what I wanted to do. About 3 weeks into it I had decided I would just get a job in the field that I studied in (finished my degree in 2009) and at the start of April I got a job. Went waaay faster than I imagined and when I actually started going for it I surprised myself at what I was capable of in terms of presenting myself and my motivations. Right now I've been working for about 6 weeks and I'm feeling very relieved above anything else. Not having to deal with poker anymore feels awesome. I don't make all that much yet (will improve after a year) but thanks to poker I don't have a lot of expenses anyway. I feel way happier in life now even though I wake up every day at 5:15 and have way less free time. That thing people say about free time is true though, you enjoy it way more when you have less of it plus you identify way better with your friends who have normal jobs. Then again, I like the learning aspect of new job and I get complimented a lot because of the pace at which I'm learning and picking things up. It also helps that I get along with all my co-workers.

So yeah, nothing but positivity in my life since quitting poker. If you have doubts about continuing, I'd definitely recommend people to get out. I haven't played since beginning of March and I don't intend to at this point in my life.

Started online poker around 2006-07 during highschool and parents banned me from playing (ip blocked, liquidpoker, ps any poker site would not load) till i left home for college. Told myself ill play 8 hrs a day during my sophomore year and take a few classes and if i dont make 50k-100k i'm done for good. Reached 8k while withrawing about 500 a month and was a breakeven player with about 1k or so a month in RB putting me in the positive. Basically, not gonna pursue something I don't enjoy (anymore at least) where my hourly is inconsistent and pretty much equate to only minimum wage...

In the end i played 1k hu and pretty much ended up +1k after over 3000 hands and cashed the rest

Nice rinny, looks like chia is still playing as of this month. -20bb/100 for 400k hands lol. Off the top of my head if he only played 4nl he'd only be down 3200. He donate much higher too or just like 10nl - 25nl?

if it wasn't for rake he wouldn't even be down that much. so gross fuck rake

Actually I also have a much better winrate in NL2k than at NL100 right now. NL100 is just tougher because it's a lot of reg on reg, 6max 2k mostly only runs with a fish, and some regs just got too much money and gamble in them whereas NL100 players actually try, thats my theory anyway.

Interesting look back in time. I picked up live poker seriously for the first time in January of this year and have been doing well, albeit not putting in many hours since it's just the same players at the same homegames every day, and the occasional trip to Florida. I think I got in a fight with my g/f one night and decided to just play poker and won like 2k and just kept playing each day until I went busto or showed signs of a winning player. Once I felt I was winning I started taking trips to card rooms to see if I could survive in such an environment and for some reason really enjoyed it. Funny thing is I had about $20 on WPN after a bitcoin xfer test and decided to play some 1/2c and just immediately found myself getting frustrated to the point of total tilt where I was just flipping with maniacs. I just cant handle online. Actually what I cant handle is unjustly losing, but the thing about live is that it forces me to maintain my composure since I'm not the kind of person to blow up in person. I take my beats like a man and move on. Plus I only bring 2-3 buyins per session so I'm forced to quit at a certain stop loss, whereas online it's too easy to just sit there and keep reloading forever. There have been times where I have painfully had to leave a live table because there was some fish that was just begging to surrender the 1000BB's in suckouts he had collected, but my wallet was empty and I had to go, and it was probably for the best anyway.
