imo it's kind of like if you get that kind of money in that kind of fashion and you don't spend a large amount on charity, you're a scumbag. I can't really fault people for liking him though, I think that letter is one of the best things I've ever read.

I don't understand why people are required to donate a shit ton of money to a charity. In their will, sure. But he's worth 100 mill, not 2 billion. I totally agree all the *real* rich rockstars should be more philanthropic in general, but to automatically assume everyone worth 10 mill+ that doesn't donate a "large" % of their net worth is a scumbag? That's a bit much.

Also, he had nothing to do with the letter imo. That was his lawyers masterpiece. Although I'm sure Dan said "Make it as hilariously degrading as possible without crossing any lines" or something to that extent.

edit: I'm not a fan of the guy at all, I agree with everything that Baal said. From the stuff I've read, he does seem like a class a douchebag.
