Didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. I do believe there are some parts that if you aren't a gamer at all are gonna seem a bit boring, even I almost got bored once or twice but overall it was pretty cool. I specially loved that I was actually rooting for one of these guys to win it all, my favourite was the Singapore guy because his family was so fricking unsupportive even making him feel shame and like a failure and that made me relate to him more, although his whole ex thing at the end I didn't like but whatever.
I'm not sure how to feel about them making the Chinese players look like the "bad guys". They could easily have looked into their own lives and struggles too instead of picturing them like mindless robots and all about win win win and then we would have even more people to cheer on or not, in any case we decide but it kinda felt like they made that choice for us. |
