It was a lay and pray from a dominant position. I think the back body triangle let's the fighter do essentially nothing. It's viewed as such a dominant position in the UFC so even if you do not throw punches or don't look hard for RNC you won't get stood up. Jacare employed the exact same strategy on Carmont. Granted, I'm not saying this isn't a dominant position, what I am saying is that once you are in this position the aggressor can basically just hold, and it's up to the defender to do everything to get out of it even if they aren't in some sort of immediate danger.

he was beating the shit out of him on the stand up too, and then took down and took the back of a BJJ world champion, that is not lay and pray, that is absolute dominance, obviously he isnt going to submit a world champion easily, but simply willingly taking the fight to the ground against one takes balls and to dominate him, takes skill, i think musoke is a guy to watch in the future.

its just super hard to finish from the back in MMA. without a gi and with the gloves its pretty easy to just protect your neck and fight off any choke attempts. not to mention you can actually throw punches when someone has your back he has to defend those. its still a dominant position because you cant mount any significant offense and are in constant danger but very defendable.

the exception is belly down back position which is just the worst possible spot to be in. completely GG from there
