Path of Exile game

Been in beta for nearly a year (aug 11th) and have probably put in 1500-2000hours into this game, I fucking love it. Took 1st in 2 of the 3 Cut-throat events. Hardcore only since day 1.

The end-game "map" system is well executed and some of the combo are down right fucking insanely hard but oh so fun to do.

As for the passive tree you can get up to 111pts atm, but plan your builds around 70-75pts cause after that the leveling gets real slow. As for spell gems there are currently around 100 if I remember correctly and by open beta release they were aiming for 150-200skills.

If you're flat out racing it (keeping zone levels 2-3 above your level, skipping quests in bad zones) and have a real solid build and everything picked out you can do it maybe 24hours. For most people tho it's gonna be more like 40+ hours.

i haven't played this game, but it seems like a mix of D3 and that game would be the best. If D3 could just take some ideas from them....

D3 is very well made but it really needs cool game modes and stuff, because just farming gear over n over gets boring.

i haven't played path of exile, so i am not going to judge it, but i think its unfair to say D3 has NOTHING better than it.

I think you at least gotta admit D3 has better graphics.

I disagree on that one, I much prefer POE's graphics to D3's. D3 has more polygons, but fails to utilize them in a way to bring feeling and depth to the game in a way that POE does amazingly.

Current ETA for open beta is mid/late Sept after getting pushed back from a late august eta due to them wanting more time to expand on the "map" system and pvp. Open beta will also include act 3 and all voice acting/story for the rest of the game.

Yea that's the downside to playing betas, I suggest you play hardcore and I'm sure you'll die before release comes around anyways or if you're still alive around the last week duel to the death with them like we always do before wipes.

Made an oath to quit the game if I die in HC. Died in HC after being in like top20 or so before D3 started. Solid game though, fun stuff.

At 7pm PST tonight there is a Cut-Throat pvp event.

Cut-throat is a pvp league that allows you to invade other player's instances and upon killing someone you get all their loot equipped + stash, minus gems. I've taken 1st in 2 of the 3 CT events so far.

Game is good when you have a high appreciation for intelligent game design and creating complex/thought out characters. The one thing I find annoying is having to scan over every item that drops due to the fact that any color item can be good, it sort of give me a headache. Game is very well put together though, D3 is a piece of shit.

In POE u can do just about anything u can imagine. My first character that beat merciless was a marauder which is what you would consider to be the bread and butter 2h melee char just by looking at him that was a spellcaster.

That being said, there are several cookie cutter and very viable summoner builds. Realistically u can be a full time summoner, a summoner that cast spells, a summoner that uses a bow... whatever. U can come up with almost anything in POE and with each character you play it increases the replay value as you come up with more ideas and see more things. This is the reason i recommend to almost everyone to play HC. It makes the game much more enjoyable to play and dying is actually this experience where u are tempted to try new things out.

If u look at a game like diablo 3 there is almost 0 reason to ever make a new char and the amount of diversity in characters just really isnt there. POE outside of people copying streamers builds is this game where almost every character is different and everyone isnt wearing the same set of unique gear and other boring shit. Uniques are basically build enabling in POE and not usually best in slot. IDK I could go on forever but u should definitely all try POE if u enjoy ARPGs at all, it's free.

Its weak spots are boss monster design, a very mediocre and superficial story that doesnt help you get involved and no cinematics which makes the weak story even less immersive, and those areas are exactly in what D3 excels, they should have addressed that before the expansions

I mean the cinematics from blizzard are always top notch, but the d3 story line is absolute horseshit and the immersion is ruined every 3seconds by random pop culture references or your character acting like a whiny teenager.

the story is worse than in D1 and D2 but its still better than in PoE... I remember beating Dominus not even realizing I was facing the final boss... I was so underwhelmed

I mean, I don't really see the point of having elements since imo it plays literally no part. there is no concentration of any elements, they are sporadic and more often than not all grouped together.
