Partypoker can disclose it has closed 277 'bot' accounts between 1 December 2018 and 31 March 2019 and redistributed $734,852.15 in associated funds, as it continues to address issues of fairness and strives to make the site a safer place to play.

'Bots' are computer programs that are specially designed to play against human opponents or other pieces of software.

partypoker continues to invest in resources aimed at safeguarding the safety of its players, spearheaded by a specialist Poker Fraud Team comprising a collection of former poker professionals who are equipped with the necessary knowledge and expertise to investigate suspicious activity and aid partypoker in ridding the site of unscrupulous accounts. Since 1 December 2018, over 75% of the account closures came as a result of detection by the new fraud team, and the site will continue to provide regular updates on the number of bot account closures.

'Suspicious activity' can take many forms, signalling potential collusion between two or more players for example, and the use of bots or other prohibited software designed to give players an unfair advantage.

Players are asked to contact the fraud team directly if they detect any suspicious activity at its online tables, by sending an email to info@partypoker.com. partypoker promises to investigate all incidents reported.

Team partypoker's Patrick Leonard said: "Two years ago it wouldn't have been possible, but after seeing the security department first hand, the team working there and the tools they are using, I'm very confident now that they can tackle people trying to play against the rules. In my opinion it isn't worth somebody trying to bend the rules because, in the words of Liam Neeson: 'They will find you, they will catch you and they will.. ban you!'"

Is $734,852.15 a lot of money for redistributed funds? It's a lot of money in general, but as a non-poker player, I don't know if this amount is a lot in the grand scheme of things, especially for 277 bots.
