Well-known Finnish poker player has yet another reason to celebrate. Patrik Antonius has crossed the magical amount of 11 million dollars won in live poker tournaments.
Patrik Antonius is one of those guys who can play great both online as well as live. As for online poker his results at HighStakes Database are worth 17 million dollars. First time we had an opportunity to see him on high stakes online in June 2008. Already in 2009 he faced Viktor ,,Isiludr1” Blom at FTP. Playing Pot-Limit Omaha 500/1,000$ Antonius won $1,356,947, which is still the biggest online poker pot.
If you're asking about live events, then we can say that Patrick really came through, especially with his performance at PartyPoker Live Millions in Barcelona.
Two first big successes came in January and March 2005. First Antonius went to the Bahamas to play PCA. The $8,000 Main Event (12th place) gave him $34,600. A few weeks after that he was in California to play World Poker Tour in San Jose. $10,000 Main Event, 15th position and yet another $40,000 is going his way.
First six-figure amount went to Patrik in September 2005. Back then he was close to winning the European Poker Tour. Finally he had to admit that Jan Boubli and Christer Johansson were better, but he still received €117,000 for third place. A few weekss after that he headed to Baden. This is where another stop of EPT took place. Antonius was better than 179 player field and won the EPT Main Event. In the final heads-up he faced Gunnar Ostebrod, and received €288,180 for his performance.
It is said that you have to steal your first million, but poker players can just win it. Best of them get such quotes in both cash games and tournaments. Patrik scooped his first million in Las Vegas. It was December 2005 when he registered to $15,300 Main Event at WPT live Diamond World Poker Classic. He was very close to win a trophy, but fell to Rehne Pedersen. Antonius cashed over a million anyway.
Until now 1 million dollars went his way three times. Also in A$250,000 Challenge during Aussie Millions 2012 (A$1,200,000) and in March this year. Antonius played the Main Event of Super High Roller Bowl China, with $280,000 buy-in. He lost to Justin Bonomo, but left the casino $3,153,551 richer.
Financially speaking this is the best year in Antonius' career. He won 4.36 million dollars in tournaments. Since 2003 he has had only one year withour a nice profit (2016). In 2004 he won live $720 ???? Second best yesr for Antonius on the other hand was 2012 when he cashed altogether for 1.94 million dollars.
