It's becoming so funny now. And if PS weren't interested, we all would be crying.

What incentive does PS have to buy FT? It sounds like it would require a substantial capital outlay and it's not like FT is a serious threat to PS's market share (there doesn't seem to be overwhelming interest to take over FT).
Seems odd, but hope it gets done for people with cash stuck there. |

This analysis doesn't make much sense to me and I doubt it's very accurate.
So stars is paying 750 million to shut down ftp and look good to the public?
FTP would have been dead if they didn't buy it so the argument of closing down competition is just silly.
Paying 750 million to look good to the public seems like a lot of cash even for stars. If they wanted to look super awesome to everyone they could have just repaid player balances, why settle for 400 million with DOJ for a brand you don't even want?
If stars would care so much about paying players and look good, I guess they buy UB too? |

I think they're doing it b/c of the original charges that the DOJ brought on to stars when black friday occured. This would conveniently put them on better terms with DOJ for when the US market re-opens upon new legislation, while also appeasing the charges by DOJ and getting americans repaid. I agree about this not being about controlling the competition |

I think they got some kind of future agreement with the DOJ they cant speak of atm.
To me such a big deal only would make sense for stars if by doing this they can reenter the American poker market in the future.
Btw FTP Players were like 50-60% from America so if stars repays all Players they would have done a lot for their reputation in that nation. |

Yep, seems like stars are targeting FT to re-enter USA. This is good for all sides. Let's hope it works. |

Yeah I'd say if it happens it's mostly about protecting their position in the U.S. market. Not to mention perhaps there was other competition for FTP and part of Tapie backing out is that PokerStars was working hard to force him out. Not like we really know anything anyways, all we can do is wait and hope. |

The most logical idea IMO would be to create fake competetion between FTP and PS as the two major brands, I thought this was their idea all along ;-0 |
