the money i lost on the river in this hand is less than the money i make long term in this situation betting a little on the turn letting him draw for his four outs. even though 1.50 was too small I just didnt care, he's a shortstack and i want the more money possible from him with the nuts. I don't know his hand this is freakin NL 25 he can have a K here too.

no baal is right, you do not make more money in the long run betting 1/6 of the pot on the turn. you are right that you can't really just put him all in there, but a 1/2 pot bet is a lot more reasonable than betting 1.50. that's just horrible and stupid way to get value out of the nuts.

also, raise the flop. you want to get it all in here against a shortstack with this hand

you may be right Pokerintheface, I might be over evaluating position. When I am in position I want to just call bets too much and let them bet on the turn instead of raising and scaring them.

position is not as important in low limits as many of the people here will talk about, for a number of reasons

1) you will rarely bluff people off hands, and they will not understand what you are representing most of the time
2) you will get paid off by top pair very easily even when out of position because people have horrible grasp of handstrength at low limits
3) most people at low limits bet horribly inproportionally to the pot size, so you may be able to show down a hand very cheaply because someone (like you, perhaps) is underbetting with the nuts, and thus easily have control over pot size by simply check/calling or check/raising
4) in low limits, if people put money into the pot by limping they usually arent going to surrender to a standard preflop raise, so there's less likeliness you can steal the blinds or dead money by making positional raises.

playing your own handstrength wisely and making good calls, thin value bets, and good folds is the key to low limit NL. hone your handreading abilities and you'll succeed.
