true. sometimes i fold aces preflop to mix it up.

there is a difference between disguising your hand and playing it badly. you are letting draws in cheaply, letting second best hands that would pay you off on flop/turn get away from their hands. letting a ton of action killers come. this is in no way ok ever.

its fine to check pre oop to 3 limpers but thats a raise on any and all streets, a good amount of draws on that board.

I will grind you into dust.

The board is too drawy to just flat on the flop....especially in an unraised pot.

im acctually at 2/4 now. you arnt cool shit because you play 8 hours a day and nit up 8 tables. i play like one hour a day and sometimes not even that. playing this hand like this is bad.

you won't be there long if you don't mix up your play. this isn't ideal but it's ok to do sometimes.

How is this ok? Theres way too many bad cards to come that will basically give you $0. You're letting hands catch up and beat you also considering this is a limped pot.

you are an idiot. i never said anything about not mixing up my play. i just said mixing it up in the style of this hand is BAD. IT IS NEVER GOOD.

and im giving specific advice to someone playing nl100. i dont think we need to be flatting a set, minraising a turn, and leading a river or else theyll know what we got.

i hope a respected player comes in here and tells you to stfu and stop poising the mind of lpers with your garbage.

you're saying this needs to be played a specific way every time, and you're wrong. keep front betting all your sets, check raising all your draws and whatever else predictable wanna bes like yourself do. you're not good enough to talk to people the way you do. get a little bit of experience and then maybe you'll have a leg to stand on.

This makes sense if the advice was to ALWAYS play sets this way, etc. However, the point, though it was made rudely, was in this SPECIFIC case, the hand was played badly. I don't understand why you'd advocate this play, given the board and the situation.

If Travis feels this is a good way to play this based on his read on the pIayer and/or table dynamics, then fine, but from an outside eye, I hate this.

Check/calling this draw heavy flop is already "mixing it up" in my book. The turn smallish raise is atrocious, especially oop, and we only fire a reasonable bet when the worst card in the deck falls on the river?

Again, maybe Travis knew that this player doesn't play his draws like this, otherwise it's hard to like the way this hand was played.

S1KLYF, this is the profession we chose

at nl100 it does. the guy who leads is mostly stacking off with any decent hand on the flop, because nl100 players are bad. hes not going to fold two pair, any draw, slow played overpair to a raise. so whats the value in flatting this flop? none? oh thats cool. oh wait maybe we can be super tricky and flat here so nl100 mongrels wont be able to read our tendencies and fold their aces here? yea i fucking think not.

you raise this flop like you would a draw, two pair, or an air bluff.

if there are 5 limpers in front of me i raise aces. sure it gives away my hand, but its the most valuable way to play this in the long run.

well, it isn't the perfect way to play the hand, i'm just trying to make the point that it doesn't always have to be played the same. travis knows what he's doing. regulars will be less likely to think you would slowplay on this board. the river card sucks, but thats the risk you run if you play it like this. if he plays with these people a lot it's important to show some different looks sometimes. anyway, didn't mean to get in a big argument, stim is just trying to be like rekrul and it annoys me.

you play hands deceptively sometimes with intentions of repping something, or to make your opponent think you bluff repping something to get maximum value out of your hands and to make yourself harder to read.

hmm lets see, whats it look like travis is repping here. a flush? no he wouldnt check minraise a flush draw. a medium 8? no he wouldnt play an 8 that way either. straight draw? no.... hmm.... A SET? yea, looks like it.

you dont randomly go hey imma play this hard weird and people wont know whats i gots LOL im goot.

failure.

i mean, if this was a random fish i would say it's played badly too, but travis is an experienced player. good players do things that look weird if you only see the one hand history.

Why minraise the turn then? Also you're sure he bets the turn if turn is a club?
