It's preatty unlikely that he has a better hand preflop ... limping or just raising small with that hand is stupid too given the stacks sizes and the blinds.. and the odds were not against me as you can see

i played quite a lot of these tournaments. its too early too push this i think. your hand is really good though hu. one round of blinds later this is a push. or if you were more behind. right now i would make it 150 or 200. smaller pairs are hard to play but 88 is big enough to play with i think. what i like about pushing is that he might be stupid enough to call with A2 or A3. but then again if you raise he might push these 
but really i wouldnt push this. you have like 15 rounds of blinds left and you only win so litte  , his call is a lot worse though imo. he guesses he has live cards and is ok taking this disadvantage to knock you out. but really he will get better spots if he waits till next round.
