thoughts:

backdoor flushes not enough equity on most monotone boards
hand composition has to do also with villain calling range. he has to call with gutters/straight draws with backdoor so this works well for 3b.
villain doesn't have alot of 2 pair combos, j4o, j5o, maybe 54o, 3bet 54s a large portion obv doesnt have jj much. so less nutted hands. alot less good jx
ace provides additional backdoor straight equity.

I don't 3bet often here but here are some factors:

villian doesn't have too many nutted combos: not having 2pair offsuit combos is a huge deal here, J5o, J4o arn't calling here preflop from pio. 54o should. I block 44 and 54o, which is good. So i think A4o is doing ok against his x/r range.

Don't think he x/r middle pair almost ever here, so that helps. And i block AJ, the most likely flop x/r Jx hand.

optimal strategy is to 4bet the flop around 20% frequency, but i'd guess they do it around 10-15% freq max. They ought to be 4betting middle/bottom pair, and some straight draws like 63s, and then some sets. I think it's likely that the first two are under 4bet a lot and the third i think probably under 4bets as well-but not sure. If you nodelock this in you will notice a big increase in 3betting IP freq.

agreed on everything and while PIO doesnt use the A4 combo to 3bet blocking AJ is a much bigger deal than all the reasons why PIO doesnt choose the Ace imo, a strong one being blocking also his gutshots

can call bigger bets later+more sdv=realizes more equity with a flat line than A4 does compared to 3b

93% Sure!
