Poker wise this year has been onpace interms of monetary goals but i'm way way behind pace in terms of VPPs at around 214k vpps.
The main reason for not playing enough is I've started getting into trading. I've recently moved a chunk of money onto the Shanghai index. Does anyone trade that market and want to share some insight and ideas??
Third and final thing, looking to goto vegas in June to play some wsop events, looking for a roomy.

That Ah4h is a pretty brave call. And I'm not so sure about that A8 hand, you must've had some sort of read on him. |

Your work ethic is sick. Any updates on that long-term coaching proposition you were considering late last year? |

have you traded before? what's your finance background? there are some things that hold true across pretty much all exchanges, and some that pertain specifically to certain markets.
there are some people who make killings trading equities, but most of the people i've talked to who have done lots of trading and analysis (work for hedge and value funds, etc) say that long term debt (bonds) and derivatives are the way to go if you want to see results from the application of your skill/knowledge. equities can be good, but the their day-to-day is generally so volatile that it's tough to predict their movement and so by actively trading them you are essentially gambling after you reach a certain point (you can gather as much info as you'd like and apply your reasoning and logic to that, but after a certain point there's no more data and you'll have to guess at where it'll go in the next month/3mo/6mo/yr etc).
this might be all common knowledge to you though? |

yea thats fairly common knowledge.
As for background I have no finance/economics related degrees. I am currently learning from a mentor i use mainly discretionary charting reading to trade. And I totally agree with you that this is basically a gamble, im sure top traders will have bigger % drawdowns than top poker players will have % downswings. |

so mainly technical analysis? when you said "just starting out" i didn't know what you meant haha. so i'm guessing you understand the basics of maintaining a portfolio -- proper diversification, when to long/short, margins, all your different metrics, etc.
admittedly i don't know much about the asian markets as i deal mostly with U.S. securities and the publications i read focus mainly on america and europe, but i think these things hold true across all markets with slight differences in rules and regulations. i've done a bit of portfolio management during my time in university, so if you have any questions i can try my best to help. gotta put this finance degree to use sometime |
