Dealing with bad run of cards and not spewing excessively when you lose em' all is what will always divide the big winners from breakeven grinder zombies.

Here goes the

Add your points, and challenge the existing ones.

1) Strict Stop loss - 3BI or even 2BI. Why? When you run bad you obviously start thinking about it and any suckout's impact on your mentality will be much higher. Also, move down when you lose 10 or more BI at your limit, or when you hit a 'point of no return' when you are not comfortably rolled for your limit.

2) Cut down on tables - You run bad, your losses will just multiply

3) Brutal table selection on very few tables - You need to have as big of an edge as you can, and use it to your maximum potential.
You might get more tilted when the fish suckout on you a lot(as expected when you run bad), but overall the impact of a cold deck should be smaller if you run 10bb/100 against your villains under neutral conditions than when you play regs.

4) Focus on your play, not results.
-Don't look at your BR unless you are checking if stop loss is in place. Review your hands after the session and check if the suckouts were not in fact your mistakes that you didn't realise. (E.G. you have a straight and villain obvious fullhouse on a paired board, but you call anyway for 3/4 pot shove as you think that this can't happen again)

Disclaimer: I am reposting this as I was largely misunderstood in my previous post and people took me posting my graph as a rant about variance and not a mere impulse to write down some pointers for the times when you suddenly start to hit a run of bad cards/are doom switched.

lol cutting down on tables has nothing to do with reducing a bad run. it'll only help if its massively affecting your play at other tables therefore causing you to spew at a bunch of tables at once.

and i dont know how you can play with a 2 or 3 bi stoploss, youre just gonna have to stop so many sessions.

i guess he means 2-3 tilt bi losses, when i lose KK to AA all in im not going to feel even remotely bad thats just poker. But if i lose AA and AK REPEATEDLY TO FUCKING XJoff then i am obviously going into monkey tilt mode, so basically 2 bis to suckouts = session closer.

now all i need is the discipline to follow through with this hahaha

I regularly start sessions with a "how am i going to hero-make up for my losses this session" mentality

I must remind you that this is in case of 5k+ hands continuous losing.

And please try to add your input, when you disagree with 2.5BI stop loss, tell us what is the best and why

3bi is good if u can strictly adhere to it. u have to have a monk's discipline to follow it though.

i dont like stop losses period, i feel like you should have a mental stoploss instead, but you have to be honest with yourself. just stop whenever you feel like youre playing badly and losing is affecting your play significantly.

one reason i dont like monetary stop losses is cuz it makes you constantly check your bankroll which i dont like doing during sessions cuz it affects my play.

Agree with focusing on play, not results- I'm crushed far more by a bad call on NL2 than a setup on NL50.

But,

3 Buyins is OK for FR, but for 6max that's is far too low. And I don't fucking give a shit about table selecting.

3 buy in stop loss is soooo pre-UIGEA. 4-6 stop loss is how it should be now.

What's so lol about this? Your swings are bigger when playing more tables because your winrate is lower.
