The math:
I don't really remember the exact math, but I made a program a long time ago to calculate grinding time in WoW given the time to kill a mob, the drop chance, and how certain you want to be to get the item. Given that, you would be 90% certain to get a hat after 276 hours, 50 minutes of play time.
Assuming you mean a weak of normal playing, and not a week of playtime, I'll assume like 4 hours and 17 minutes a day for ease of math. Thats about 30 hours, so, plugging in some random certainty values, that gives me 22% certainty, which I guess converts to 22% probability of it occurring (for one hat in that time period). So then we want the probability of that occurring 3 times in the same week, so thats .22^3 = 1.06%
May not be right, but seems about right. Thre's definitely a better way to do that using actual probability math or combinatorics, but I'm far too lazy to think about it right now  |
