I'm looking for some input on your guys's cashing out practices. Currently I have about $2600 (52 buyins). I don't need the money atm and I don't have anything I want to buy but I'd like to take some money out for savings for a couple reasons. Most importantly because I want to have some real "profit" from poker. I still want to move up in stakes as well and I don't want to use all of my money to judge my bankroll management because eventually I will move up and go on a downswing and I'm screwed.

Is there anyone here that has cashed out money when they still weren't satisfied with the stakes they were playing and wanted to move up? I'm thinking something along the lines of cashing out 50% of my winnings and using the other 50% to build my bankroll to move up in stakes. Any advice is appreciated.

Cash out something that won't hinder your roll, like 600$, and go buy something nice or take your girl out to a fancy restaurant. It really feels good to get something with poker money.

I usually evaluate every month or two and cash out depending on how well i did. imo setting a 50% min or max is not a good idea

I just cashed out 25% of my roll yesterday because my heater was ending and I began running shitty and playing shitty and wanted to have enough behind to comfortably continue grinding a limit that I dont mind being stuck at. I also kinda needed the money since my real life bankroll is starting to look scary with all the salary cuts we have been getting at work and shit. So I would say, if you can cash out 50% of your roll and remain at whatever limits you play and have it not effect you beyond knowing you have some extra hours to put in to get back where you were then go for it. If cashing out any amount of money would just destroy your roll and set you back too far then dont bother.

bye now

$2600 is very little and if you cashout, it'll slow you down from moving up in stakes and making some real money(depending how good you are)
i started cashing out when i had around a $40k roll, playing 1/2.

I'm cashing out like 5-10k after each big heater. Feels pretty good.
