Why is this blog coming in so early today?

B/c the shot is OVAH BABY.
In a bad way

Day 1 + Day 2

Day 2 Stats

I've no idea if I'm just running like dogshit, or I'm just bleeding from the spleen.

Am I not defending the blinds well enough? -$196 from the BB I think means that considering 444 hands, I'm actually doing better than had I folded everything, so that looks decent somehow, but from SB if I do the same calculations, I'm about $20 down, which I guess isn't "that" bad.

If the above is true, and my blind defense isn't "that" bad, then the blame can be placed on either making bad bets / calls postflop, or not stealing / cbetting and taking down pots better. I'm really really really not sure what I need to improve right now, one villain shoved over me on the flop 3x in a row on 3 tables, once on a monotone flop, once on a consecutive flop, and the third on a dry'ish one. I called him on the 3rd after folding the first two and look what happens http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/625705

Sry I'm obviously whining.

My steal% is like 30% now that I really opened up today and aggressively isolated, and yet the result isn't encouraging, at least over a small sample. I feel like against most players at NL50 I'm a favorite, aside from a select few. But I KNOW I have huge leaks for NL50, and it's aggravating me that I cant seem to pinpoint them.

My redline was so fucking bad today but I'm not sure if that was b/c I was trying to raise villain cbets too much, or if I was folding too ez, or calling streets too light then having to fold later, or if I was just running bad, or what. I know that in certain situations I'm not making the right play for value, but THAT I feel I can fix on my own. But these redline type leaks are just eating me alive not knowing how to deal with it.

Moving down to NL25.

P.S: Apologies to Richi8 for my gruesome suckout on him in a diff hand Hopefully you're having better luck than I am at NL50 though.

judging by our AA vs 88 hand I don't think it can be because of running bad. I still love you though.

And no, I'm running like donkey shit too.

just improve balance and timing in everything imo. defend blinds when the time is "right" also against certain players and their stats. its also impt to know who the regs and fish are in every table.
regs here at 50nl ive noticed are never tricky with position and draws, they play very narrow ranges pf and totally define their hands early coz honestly they play very weak postflop so you can try 3betting each with a reasonable frequency from mp to lp when ur ip or at the blinds. also try to avoid tough spots by not being too tricky with ur premiums and just leading out with tpgk type hands coz against regs coz theyre mostly not paying you off with worse a lot of the time. in a nutshell, there's only so much value you can get out of the nits here so just play good hands face up against regs and dont bother "outplaying" them most times coz they usually have the goods.
well rekrul said it best:
bet bet bet and make 'em believe, that is so true here

its just a shot, if you keep taking shots u can't expect shit

if you build up to around 1500 - 2000 then u can just play the limit and not worry about losing a pot, i recommend that.

If you keep taking shots you will make it eventually though

and good job moving down when the shot didn't go your way this time

GL uptown,
Ryan

Sry to disappoint you Neilly but I decided, after being honest with myeslf, that I would give myself one last opportunity to "play well and not make excuses". After thinking about what Richi wrote, I truly believed that I was playing poorly and expecting to win and everything go my way, and consequently I was making retarded decisions.

What followed was the probably the first time I was in "the zone"; I had never been so focused playing poker in my life so far. YK msged me on aim and usually I'd chatter on while playing, but today I told him I'd msg him back at 9pm after 1 hour of playing. It was a combination of knowing I could play better, being ashamed that I hadnt earlier and was complaining, and wanting to prove to myself and you guys that I wasn't going to be a whining bitch w/o putting in the proper mindset and effort.

I made smart plays for value that I wasn't before, not turning my decent hands with showdown value into bluffs. I ran good as well, which helped a ton ofc, I hit my sets like 1/3 of the time.

I was more aggressive pf AND postflop, AND was somehow laying down hands intelligiently.

Ended up +2bi after 800 hands, at one point I was up +3 but my decision making began to suffer, so I called it quits essentially exactly at 9pm.

This puts me at -$30 for the entire "shot", and I am really fucking excited at trying to recreate that level of focus I just had when I play again tomorrow. It was pretty unreal for me to experience this kind of mental euphoria for the first time.

That's an awesome feeling to have. You're still with in your shot taking guidelines as you haven't lost enough yet. I'd say keep at it if you feel confident.
