So I played some NL10 for about 300 hands as I was waiting for a friend to come by and chill. I didn't do as bad as I had previously, instead I ended up break even (up $0.15). I'll post some hands for what I think I needed help with.

i dont play 6 max but i still want to at least try and help

1) i like raising to 50c. personal preference, but i like to make the limpers pay! even if u 3x normally i think u can 4x+1/limper when isolating

i think on the turn u need to decide whether u want to play ur hand for its value, or just outright bluff. u cant go halfway and value bet on this card. so i think its best to either bet the turn strong (bluff) like $2.80 or so, or check turn and then vbet river if he checks behind turn. if u check turn and he bets, well it comes down to ur read on this player and what u think he is betting there with, whether its bluffs or actual hands.

2) hmmm... turns not a great card to bluff on or anything since it doesnt change anything, so it comes down to reads here whether u should have bet turn or not. and that comes from what u think he calls flop with, whether its a shitload of hands or whether he probably only calls with a king or better. anyway as played check fold river is best i feel.

3) AJ is not a good hand to flat call with, because u cant define their hand ranges and hence u have no clue where u stand on an ace or jack. i think its one of those hands, and AQ too, to just fold or re-raise preflop. decisions get easier that way. anyway, on this flop i think calling is good since raising is never getting called by worse. this turns not great but its better then a spade. he bet pretty weak so i would just flat call again. and on a non-spade turn i would call another bet. on a spade turn ur decision becomes trickier, call or fold depending on the guy who bets. basically AJ is really hard to play in this spot which is why its better to 3bet or fold i think

4) u played this well

disclaimer: no idea if anything i said is remotely good or should be followed, 6 max is too hectic for me

1) i usually just complete with a hand like KQ from sb at this limit. no need to bloat the pot oop when you are getting called 100% and opponents range is atc. im sure its an iso for value, but at this limit, outplaying opponents postflop as opposed to preflop is easier and more profitable. but like lachlan said 5xing it oop is better than 4x probly. as played fold river.

2) strange you complete with A9cc yet raise with KQ from sb. at this limit i would probably just check/call turn. although unlike lachlan said a ten is a good card to bluff at i think because the opponent is more likely to fold a pair of 8's or 7x with this card hitting the turn (lachlan plays fullring hes a nit). however nobody likes to fold a pair at this limit so i would probably just check/call. as played check/fold river.

3) 3bet pre, you have position on the raiser, i like to 3bet a wide range on the button so aj is def in there. as played raising flop has no value so call is fine. turn is player dependent. how often does he fire 2 barrels on boards like this? if he a fish who likes to just bet bet bet, id call, and call a river bet as well. as played im more inclined to make this call than fold because im a callstation fish.

4) thats fine.

1) Ugly river - I think it's a fold cause unless you have a read of him bluffing it doesn't make any sense for him to bet there.

2) I'd give up on the turn - check and consider calling a small bet. As played check/fold.

3) the original raiser has dick but the other guy is annoying. I think a flop raise woulda been better since you had the guy behind you and you were giving him odds. Now in this situation I'd just call and be ready to get out vs a CR, and plan to check behind on the river.

4) perfect

Hard to say in any of these hands without knowing the player. Anyway I'll offer a few thoughts:

1) Preflop I'm making it 55c, we're out of position and wouldn't LOVE to be called, but if you do get called you have a pot that is nicely sized for you to value town when you flop top pair. Being cold called by the big blind here generally indicates a decent hand, though of course, he could be some 80/1/1 idiot who will just call here a ton, even though your range should be tight, as people at these limits are not thinking about your range. Anyway I like the flop bet size and betting the turn is perfectly reasonable, you can still get value out of a few worse hands such as KT stubborn JQ JT and the ace doesn't figure to have hit him all that often unless he has AJ, A6 or some A high + gutshot float on the flop, the bet serves as protecting your hand + value + protecting yourself from being bluffed. I highly doubt there's 3 streets of value to be had though so the river is a c/f. There are no draws out there so when he bets the river he is almost never bluffing and is likely valuebetting a pretty wide range, something like AT+. I would expect most people to take a free showdown with a king or a jack in his spot, unless for some reason they feel like turning it into a bluff (which doesn't make much sense either). So the river is a pretty clear c/f once you weigh up how often he's bluffing or turning Jx into a bluff (both are very rare) and his value betting range (A6 AQ AJ AT QT KJ 66 - much wider than his bluffing range). So nh if you folded river.

2) You could raise pre here too. Really depends on the opponent whether you wanna be raising KQ, A9s etc in these spots. If they are really stationy, like limp/calling Q3o and random shit like that, and thus will be paying you off constantly with middle pair etc then bumping it up with any hand that has good top pair value (like these hands) will be highly +EV even from the blinds. Also if they limp/fold super often you can raise it up expecting to show a large profit preflop. Completing is ok if the opponents are limp/raising a fair bit and you're not happy to call a limp/raise, or they are limp/calling with strong hands a lot, and play well post flop (don't pay you off often when you're ahead, don't fold so much that you can run them over easily). Given the limp I would play the hand the same as you did here except my turn bet would be pot. I like the double barrel here for a few reasons.... Firstly he can fold out hands like 7x, pocket pairs that have you beat, even when called you have good equity, and you juice up the pot for a bigger river bet when you hit an ace or a club. Also occasionally you get called by worse when he has like Jc8c or QcJc etc, and a few other possible draws. River is a c/f obviously, it's almost sure he's strong given how he played the hand and this is a limped pot so you can't try and bluff him, and you didn't hit so nobrainer c/f.

3) Again, some reads on the opponent would help greatly with your preflop decision here. Calling, 3betting and fold are all possibilities given a) his range preflop and b) how he plays postflop. Against someone who is raising a ton of hands you can either call, keeping in all of the hands you dominate and hope to build a big pot on an ace or jack high flop (not necessarily by raise getting it in straight away, sometimes you build a big enough pot by letting them 3barrel), or you can 3bet expecting to show an immediate profit preflop since he is raising so many hands that he will have to fold often, and if he does call you're in position with the betting lead against a loose guy who will probably be calling with a lot of crap that will be c/fing a lot. Basically vs a LAG you will be playing this hand for stacks if you flat pre and hit a good flop, and same thing in a 3bet pot if you flop anything. Just gotta weigh up what you think is most +EV based on how he plays postflop. Against someone with a super tight raising range (whether it be a 12/10 or a 70/1) you can just fold pre since you're not happy to even flop top pair, and they will show up with a hand too often for you to try and make many moves postflop profitably. Against a standard TAG who is raising a fair bit but not a huge amount you're best off 3betting or folding for the most part as they will be playing decently post flop so you're gonna have trouble making profit even though you're in position with a hand that looks decent. They will get value from you when they have you beat and bluff you out too often when you miss, and you won't make enough back on your own bluffs or value when you actually do make the best hand, so you can 3bet to define your hand and look to make profit preflop from the 3bet, build some history/image with the TAG regulars and play postflop profitably when you have the betting lead and if you have a decent idea of their calling range you will be able to bluff them off a lot of underpairs etc they are calling with and show a profit in a spot where if you had just called you would probably be losing money. As played flatting the flop is fine, raising this flop is way overrepping your hand and this flop hits a ton of the PFR's range. I wouldn't even expect people to cbet this flop with complete air into 2 people, and with the overcaller there aswell, the turn is a sure fold despite the tiny bets. You're effectively just hoping the original raiser is barrelling into 2 people with AT for value or absolutely nothing and the other guy has a draw, which is way too optomistic.

4) Preflop, flop, turn, river, all standard. River counterfeits your hand and you're not gonna bluff him off an ace so nh.

Some of my thoughts are not super well structured as I'm still a little drunk and rushed this together. Also it would be a great deal easier to make comments if you had included stats on the players and any relevant history.

One day good. One day bad. And some days, even hope

Lachlan, it's impossible for us to bluff on the ace unless you want to get him off exactly KQ. (in hand 1 that is)

I wonder how good/bad making some gay 1/4 pot bet on the river would be ..

Hm.. Off-suite socks..
