I started playing poker 1 year ago and always been a "winning player", on UB i was winning and now on PS i'm still winning at a good BB/100. But i'm not a competitive person, i would like to be real more combative, having an iron will, dont give up that fast when i'm not confortable, simply my parents made me like that or that's how i made myself years after years... and i think that is why i will never be good at this game.
I start a session, if i win 1.5~2 buyin i say to myself "it's enough, dont risk losing what you already won" and most of the time i quit.
It's just so pathetic to think this way and i'm aware of it. I want to fix this but how? i have no clue, otherwise i would waste my time playing poker, that's so sure...
Maybe it's silly to fight against his own personality, i should just let it go but it's kind of weak to think this way.
I'm not whining at all, i thought about it during last days and just wanted to write it somewhere.
If you want to give me your opinion go ahead it might help me.
Bye.

Every dollar an opponent has left is a dollar of your pride. |

Researchers used brain scans to show that when straight men looked at pictures of women in bikinis, areas of the brain that normally light up in anticipation of using tools, like spanners and screwdrivers, were activated. | |

Tbh, i think my competitiveness leads to a lot of my leaks... You get to involved with trying to out-play someone who beat you in a big pot to prove you're better then them, which just leads to you spewing. |

I do it when I win 3 or more BI in a short span of time (like 500 hands or so). The best way to change it IMO is to set a goal of a certain # of hands that you want to play in a session. For example, you start playing and you say: "I'm gonna play 1.5k hands now". And no matter what happens, either you are down or up, you try to focus as hard as you can until you reach 1.5k hands.
It will greatly improve your mental state while playing, especially if you start -3BI or so and recover from it, ending the session up. This way you will be less stressed and tilted the next time you'll lose a lot shortly after starting plying, because you'll be convinced that you are able to keep playing good and win it all back. |
