Bah! I feel like dropping out of school again. I went back studying because only playing poker destroyed my sleeping schedual and just fucked with my social life in general. But now, Im starting to wonder if this really is better. Im studying journalism and it just bores the hell out of me. I feel that they dont teach me anything and school is just robbing me of time to do other things I would much rather do. There are tons of books I want to read that arent part of the school litterature, and I want to play tons of poker.

At the same time, I dont want to play poker for the rest of my life, I also dont want to start educating myself at 30 when all my classmates will be 20~. Another downside of dropping out is that my parents definitely will panic, and as they panic so will I.

I guess the most important thing I have realized in all this is that I really dont want to become a journalist, not like I have a good alternative but I just feel journalism isnt a profession that interest me at all.

Im 22 years old and I dont know what I want to do with my life. Surprise?

if there is something that you are really, genuinely interested in, school is really worthwhile and will probably be enjoyable.

change majors , take part time classes (dunno if u can in sweden), but doing so will alow you time for poker and school .... take like a 3 course semester

just sit down and think / research!

I think there is more people who play poker that are in a similar situation like u. It is not easy to find balance between poker and "normal life". I think it is quite important for everyone to have some visions, plans, things they want to do. Without those one can feel somewhat lost.

Basically do whatever fullfils u, but know what that is! If u are unsure about what it is, actively try to find out by thinking of it and trying lots of different things.

I would definitely say try to keep in school. Even if journalism isn't what you want to do, you'll probably figure something out that interests you, and having an education is so important as its not guaranteed that poker will always be a viable source of income. If poker stays viable you'll always have your education to fall back on in case you end up getting burnt out or w/e.

imo you should always do what you want as long as it isn't totally ridiculous. And I don't think dropping out of school, which you're not enjoying anymore, is ridiculous. There's also no need to fear being 30 when you go back to school and have classmates ten years younger. That just sounds like some sort of worst-case scenario which isn't gonna happen anyway. That's also 8 years from now, and a lot happens in just 1 year. Play poker as a means of sole income for 1 year and I guarantee you your perspective will have changed by the end of that year. You'll be 23 and still with the world at your feet.

Education is also not for everyone. I'd like to think I've had a somewhat good life and I was just hopelessly terrible in school, all 12 years of it. I'm 31 now, with no education but still imo living a pretty good life. You're much younger, and with that comes the privilege of having much greater freedom to piss off for a while and do what you want.

Whatever you choose, gl to you though I'm sure you won't need luck.

get into the carpet industry

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

I'm not in the same situation education-wise.. but I'm 23 and I have no idea what I want to do either.

But I will have a bachelor's degree in about 6 months from now. I just have no idea if I want to work in the field that I'm studying in (civil engineering). It's kind of interesting but I don't have some sort of empathy for it. I don't like spending free time interesting myself in the subject, I prefer to play pc games/do social stuff/play poker waay more. I guess I'm not mature enough to handle a job though. I have no idea what I'm gonna do in 6 months but I guess it doesn't matter that much. I can take a year off and work then, I have an education anyway.

Kinda ranty post, but pretty much the conclusion is, get an education. It doesn't matter where you end up, having a good degree always helps, even if it's totally not for the work you're doing later on. You also gain a lot of personal assets when you educate yourself in a(ny) subject.

If you don't mind bad pay (lol, ur rich anyway and journalism hardly is worth it for the money considering how hard it'll be to get decent work) you could try to be a teacher. My are studying that and it's slow and lazy as hell, but apparently kinda funny from time to time.

I think going into teaching takes more effort and time then any other profession. Working more than just the regular school hours with planning and marking and of course having to deal with those snot nose little buggers. Don't get me started on undergraduate degree in TWO subjects (One major and one minor) + going to teachers college.

Having an education is important and I would vote for you not to drop out but just change majors to something that you find interesting. Go take a look at an economics program or a finance program, you can graduate and play the stock market game just like the poker game.

Raise me and die.

yea, but like, as a teacher you can be a good teacher or a lazy as teacher that can't be fired anyway and doesn't work very much at all, at least in Sweden (I've studied worker's rights and stuff, lolz). Guess it's not that inspiring though.
