8800 GTS graphics card
Core 2 Duo E6700 CPU
Seagate ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM
Corsairs 520W Power Supply 100
SAMSUNG Black cd/dvd rw
CORSAIR 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower ComputerCase 140$
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

Total for my new comp should cost around 1415(with rebate probably cheaper).

What do you guys think of these specs.

edit after reading the guide im changing 1 part for sure.

Core 2 Duo E6700 CPU to Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU. The performance isn't that much of a difference but the price increase is. I save myself ~80$.

This sucks i found out that newegg doesnt ship to canada. God badbeat. Hmm mabye i can get an american to ship to me while i pay them.

I have a great page for you (it's updated monthly), it's what I was going to use as a guide for buying a computer:

http://techreport.com/etc/2007q3/system-guide-0707/index.x?pg=4

It's basically recommendations (with explanations) by a tech company (it's either an online review place or a magazine) where every month they decide on the best 3 computers they can build, part by part, with reasons why. The reason they have 3 computers is because they have budgets: the first one is like $500-600, the next about $1k, then the last basically unlimited.

There's a drop down menu at the bottom of the page that lets you look at the other 3 computer models they built + other stuff.

Go here to get the best prices for your setup. There is a 500gb HD on there for $99 right now and the site always has the best deals on RAM, HD's, processors, and graphic cards. just an fyi.

In the guide I recommended they search for lowest prices too, and provide what they find to you: they recommend a fast and quiet 500 gig drive for $109.

Also all their prices don't take into account rebates. So the $1061 or whatever computer they recommend is probably a bit less.

edit: if you really want a bargain check out their econo-box build - it's still a good computer (Geforece 8600 GT, 2 gig ram, etc), but it's about half the price. Since you probably want a computer that runs well and is best for playing poker, I'd go with this and spend the $500 or whatever u save (compared to the $1061 recommended one) or like $900 saved (vs your original build) on a sweet monitor. If you are not going to play top of the line games (like released within the past 3 months, etc), then you don't need to spend so much and you can invest the saved money in a sweet monitor. I'd much rather have a 8600 GT and like 10% slower cpu with a sweet 30" monitor or 24" or whatever vs a 8800 GTS with 20" screen. So if you have below 24" monitor I'd go for the cheaper comp and get a sweet monitor.

Wow the 256 mb Geforce 8600 GT is $99 after rebate. That's a sick deal.

edit: If you want to play some sweet games on max graphics tho probably better to spring $180 more and get the 320 MB 8800 GTS, it blows the 8600 GT away by far.

yeah i just did that and i calculate how much it is going to cost. With some tweaks to lower my cost it came down to 1527.71$ w/o taxes. GG 1/8 of my savings.
