This is my first summer in many years where I've stayed home instead of traveling abroad for 1.5 to 2 months.
The problem is that I've already traveled to all of the countries I've always wanted to travel to, and some of them multiple times.
I'm still traveling to Vegas on the weekends, but I'm bored as he'll during the weekdays when I'm not at the gym.
I guess I could learn a new language or pick up a new skill, but I know that I won't be able to put a lot of effort into it and eventually get bored.
Thoughts?

I think you are right on the language. I only know of one friend who puts in about 30 min. a day on DuoLingo for years and she is pretty good. For me, DuoLingo is kind of shit. I need the structure of school or the flip side when I threw myself into Buenos Aires but I did have a private teacher too. Seeing someone once a week is shit. Especially at 40+. Unfortunately, learning and memory is not what it used to be. Now, if you are serious about moving to the Phillipines that would be a good opportunity to have more skin in the game but I have heard that everyone speaks English there. |

"what is exciting to do in ur late 30s early 40s?": It all depends on the person and what they like to do and what they've already done in life. I've been fortunate to travel to 15 different countries, most of them being bucket list countries. There are other countries that I want to travel to eventually like Spain and Portugal, but I want to make sure I am super excited to travel to those places first before I actually book a ticket. Nowadays, I like eating good food, going to the gym, and watching/gambling on sports -- I feel like a suburban dad, except that I'm not married, don't have any kids, and I don't live in the suburbs.
"learn cooking?": I know how to cook, but I eat at restaurants a lot. I used to cook a lot more when I was a university student, but I guess that was probably because I had very little money so I wasn't able to eat whatever I wanted.
"languages is hard to be fluent which language are u trying to learn?": I was learning Russian for a bit, but then I gave up on it in July 2023 when I broke up with my girlfriend in Belarus. I still have my textbooks, so I can pick that up if I choose to.
"play some games?": Video games are out of the question. I quit eSports in 2010 after leaving Korea, and I don't play games for fun, unless it's solitaire/bejeweled/mahjong on my phone when I'm in an airplane with no wifi.
"poker": No for obvious reasons.
"golf? fishing? softball? volleyball? tennis?": I've never been interested in these sports aside from watching tennis, but I don't do that anymore because most tennis events are outside of America and the time difference makes it difficult to follow matches. I'm either sleeping or at work during the best tennis matches. |
