So I went to see Iron Maiden at Mt Smart in Auckland last week. It rained all day but that only made me rock out harder. The set was fucking amazing and included the epic 13 minute "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and also all 8 minutes of ear shredding "Phantom of the Opera" and all the other ones I wanted to hear (Hallow, FotD, Evil that Men Do, Trooper, Run to the hills etc.)
They opened with Aces High and i forgot how good that song was. I nearly had a fit when the guitars kicked in and they all sprinted on stage.
They won best live act at the Brit Awards too.
Bruce Dickinson is the sickest front man ever.
Lauren Harris is a certificed hottie, but not very good at singing. I made eye contact with her during her act and im pretty sure she fancied me - so Lauren, if youre reading this send me a PM and ill take you out to dinner.
If you ever get an opportunity to go and see Maiden, take it. Heres a couple of pics i managed to snap during the concert.
Crowd from up high during Phantom of the Opera. I had to go up top and get a drink after being at the front coz i thought i was gonna die (It was during Wrathchild and i dont care much for that song). It looked so awesome seeing the crowd from up there.
Giant cyborg-Eddie took to the stage and fought with the band members. That guy in the suit probably has the best job in the word.
Other notes:
-Janicks stage antics are awesome.
-Nickos drum kit is so big you cant see him.
-Its an honour to have been shot by Steve Harris' bass.
-Guy who got on stage, ran a lap and dived back into the crowd before security got him has an ultra brag on his hands.
That is all for now. I have some Photoshops to post at some time. Not many though. Peace.
So I just busted out of the 10k at Commerce in the most absurd way. Before I go into detail with my bust out, I'll describe how my tourney went. Day 1 was kind of rough for me, as I got stuck at a real tough starting table with SCTrojans, Bushman, Neal Wang, and two other kids who play online 25/50 NLHE. I hovered around 20k (which was starting stack) until our table broke, and I got moved to a much softer table where there was the most absurd young kid lagtard ever to my left. At first I was just thinking that this monkey was on the most insane tilt ever, opening every other hand at the 100/200 level to a size between 425 and 500. In one hand, he opened to 475 with J4o from UTG and got in another 7k vs a short stack after flop came 3-4-8 all hearts (as he held the Jh). I proceed to play the following hand vs him: I raise to 600 with AK, he flats behind me, and one of the blinds flats. Flop comes 2-3-3 rainbow. Blind checks, I bet 1350, the lagtard behind me called and the blind folded. Turn was K, so I check and the kid thinks for a little bit then checks back. River was a 5, and I value bet 2,000 and he INSTANTLY tosses in 6k total. This was pretty puke since it really didn't feel like he was bluffing, and I was pretty positive he didn't have a hand like 3X or 22 since he check turn and slowplaying was not something he was doing with his current image at the table. So he had to have exactly 55 right? Which made me kind of sick to think that he rivered a 2 outer on me. Finally I just came to the conclusion that this is a bluff a higher % of the time than most people's raise in this spot (even thou I thought that % was real low) and thought he could also be going for VERY thin value with some hand that float flop and hit K on turn, so I called and he showed 64. /wrists
So that put me down to 7k, I squeezed AJs and got it in vs 88 to double to 15k, won a pot to get up to 16k, then hit a set when the lagtard hit top pair which ZOOOOMED me up to 32k. From there the rest of the day went pretty smooth. I ended up trying to fight back with the lagtard, but he toasted me with a 5 bet bluff (yea he was that sick) and bashed me back into my nit cave for the rest of the day, which was fine since the rest of the table sucked so whatever. With 5 mins left in the day I had 50k, and jmc (10/20 reg on stars) raises in CO, I flat button with KQ, and blind called. Flop came K-9-4 rainbow, and went check check to me so I bet smallish little under half pot, the blind folded and jmc check-raised all-in for like 2x pot so I called and he had 96o. Turn 9. Fuck my life T_T, so I end the day with 40,675.
My Day 2 table was super soft with the exception of Hafizzle and Neal Wang. Lucky for me, hafizzle never got things going and ended up busting pretty early. Neal Wang, however, got a hold of some chips and became a little bit of a pest to my left. To my right, there were two massive fish who clearly have no clue what they are doing. At the 200/400 level, it got folded to one of the fish who raised on the button to 1200, I reraised to 3400 w/ QsQc and he called. Flop came T-5-4 all hearts and I bet 5400, and he shoved for ~45k effective. Wat? I ask him if he knew how deep we were and he nodded, saying that he clearly ment to shove like x4 pot. I fold and he showed me Kh and said he had a pair with it. Later he claimed KK. That's fine. Lost a flip, missed a draw, got down to 30k, then won a flip, and raised some more pots and got myself up to 45k by the 300/600 level. I noticed my table had gotten pretty tight, as the blinds were raising so I decided to open up and start bringing some noise. Got my stack up to 60k without a showdown, easily being the most active at the table. Then this happens--->
That same fish who over-jammed pot on that earlier hand, opens in early position to 1600 from his 54,000 stack. I look at 88 and flat call in middle position. The small blind ends up calling too. Flop comes: Qc-8s-5c. BOOOYYAAAA!!! Small blind checks, the fish who raised checks, so I make my usual small gay 2900 bet. SB thinks for a bit, and counts out a raise, but then the nit inside of him made him fold. Action back around to the fish raiser who starts shuffling and moving around his chips, I see him say something so I take my headphones off to ask what he said. "I'm All-in" was the first words I heard, so I looked at the dealer and asked "What did he say?" The dealer announces the All-in and puts the All-in button in front of him. So fireworks are going off in my head, and I can hear people cheering my name as they shoot of streamers and sing songs of glory for my success. I stand up and give it the big wind-up fist pump like "YEEAAAAHH I CALL!!!!"
The fish calmly looks at me.......... then rolls over QQ.

Somedays fishes just swims around all over the place. Never had such easy tables as I've had today I think
Have been playing SnG's alot now the last days, done pretty good since I switched to Cardoza! feels just great atm!
Switched name from longple1 to NaWRataN in the transfer btw.
Also played my first cash 6max on my new nickname/site today, still sticking to 20NL. Im prolly rolled to shotting at 50NL with br of 1.9k now but I want atleast 50 BI's before going to 50NL. 20NL just feels safe and easy, no rush. Today has been extreme though, big donks have just been donating money all day
This hand below sums up overall how easy money today was..^^ + Show Spoiler +
Holdem manager is kinda fucking up my handhistories so it looks a little strange... But good enough.
Love the 20bb open push by ATo, and having a guy like the Q7o guy who flats my big "isolation-raise" (wich I kinda should have made alot smaller wich I realised asfast as Ive done it) but it worked out pretty perfect anyways.. rofl. That Q7 fish was spewing like 5 buy ins around the table, I got 2 of them : )
Overall my 12 tabling day has gone great. Im up around 8 BI's wich is nice
Though my AA has been a loser over those 4.7k hands :O ~ -6$, delt 23 times. Sick.
Good thing like every other "premium hand" worked out pretty much optimal today.
Ive signed up with another site then VCpoker now. Same network though (iPoker).
My new "home" is cardozapoker and I got bumped up to 5/6 VIP levels and got a 27% rakeback deal.
Much better deal then I had before. Will be much more profitable to just massplay like a crazyass now with rakeback
Watched the latest poker after dark episode today with taylor/raptor and cole south from cardrunners vs gabe/doyle and eli elezra. Pretty nice episode.
Will be e nice series I think =) I think its great that they've started to invite more online pros to those types of programs lately, much nicer to watch then
donking phil helmuth whining of some1 sucking out vs him with a flushdraw when he minbets and give them superodds.. ^^
I just arrived to the hotel. Unfortunately being the fish I am I forgot to save the phone numbers fazi and soah gave me so I dont really know how to contact them. If any of you guys read this im in room 527. Call me up or something, Im starving!
The site im playing at is VCpoker (Victor Chandler poker) and they are having an event the next 10 weeks where the top 3 active/successfull players every single week at 3 different stakes will advance to an 10 ppl SnG.
That SnG will contain:
1-5$ 3 ppl
10-50$ 3ppl
50+$ 3ppl
+ Victor Chandler himself, rofl
I came in 3rd place (week 2) in the 10-50$ area and advanced to that SnG. The player busting Victor Chandler will recieve an bountykill.
But the winner will win a trip to Spain in some live event. + Play Victor Chandler for 100.000$ HU (live).
I also won a bonus of 200$ cuz I came 3rd. Wich is 20 buy ins for me, always nice
The reason that Belgariad123 didnt advance is because he won last weeks 10 max sng and already won a seat to Spain.
The equation for the point system is (number of players in the sng - position) + 1.
So for winning a 6 max it is (6-1)+1 = 6 points
The final tourney will take place this Sunday. Would be very nice to win it. I've never played a serious live event.
As I wrote in my last blogpost I've started to play 10$ SnG's.
Why have I never played these before?
in 5 days ive made a profit of 1366$
With a bankroll now of 1836$
This is my Graph:
Im finally + again :D
My big losing streak took place for about 1 year ago, I was a spewing monkey who was tilted after a downswing of about 400$ when I played only HU 20$ SnGs
So what I did was to register to two 550$ 10max tournaments and obv went out pretty fast in both.
I donked around for a while playing HU sng's between 1000-1500 games played.
And 5 days ago I switched from my 20NL cashgame tables to try playing 10$ SnG's for a couple of days just to try something else. So I started playing the 6max and 30max/50max with some unexpected sucess. Ive won pretty moslty every 30/50max SnG ive registred to as you can see on the graph. And after 250 tourneys Ive made almost 1400$. Only on 10$ SnG's.
If you are a struggeling player on NL20-25 I def think you should try out the 10-20$ SnG's. They are very soft.
Im so happy right now, finally i've found a game that I completely crush!
Will stick to MTT's and SnG's. Still waiting for a nice big MTT win. That would be a great great boost.
I made a few calculations and I saw that I make 4x$/h in the 10$ sngs then I made on my old job^^
The reason most people will be reading this blog will be for the video which I posted at the bottom, so skip ahead to that. Below is simply a rant about life and how I think video games, poker and "internet fame" effects people, and has, in my opinion, effected me.
I got this blog deleted by an admin about 2 months ago for a few reasons, part of which was due to the fact that my interest in poker continues to wane, but mainly because of something that Ket told me that reminded me of how I used to be, and how I would still like to be. This all came to me when we were talking about poker and how it changes people, and I was thinking to myself that poker hasn't really changed me, but then Ket started talking about tjbentham and mig, who were 2 of the biggest, if not the 2 biggest winners from the liquidpoker community in 2008. He was telling me how, despite the fact that they win so much, they never post about it, they simply keep themselves to themselves and just play. That's how I used to be in life, and in older video games like Diablo2 and StarCraft and various other things in real life life that I was good or bad at, but never really bragged or whined about. I enjoyed people not knowing anything about me, I enjoyed my own time and space and learning about other people, but not letting anybody know anything about me. I think this started to change when I first caught online "fame", which is when I moved to the ToT clan in StarCraft in 2004 or so. Up until that point I was fairly unknown playing as iD.MidiaN, just doing my thing staying under the spotlight, enjoying the game and being really pretty good at it without anybody really knowing that much about me, those who did know about me knew that I was severely underrated by the community as a whole and that's what I liked. I enjoy being unknown and also enjoy being the underdog, however when I joined ToT people started messaging me all the time, there was random talk about me on TeamLiquid and gosugamers etc and I was beginning to gain "fame". For the first week I answered everyone who messaged me, every person who asked for a game, responded to most posts on forums, but I got frustrated by it all very quickly. My response was to start banning people from Op ToT) who continued to harrass me, not taking losses aswell as I used to, defending myself against people and on forums, where in the past I never did because it didn't bother me what people thought. I don't think I was ever really horrible in that respect, infact, I was probably one of the lesser arrogant and bad mannered top non Korean StarCraft gamer, but even so, it bothered me that I changed at all, and it still bothers me that for the last 4 years I've changed as a person just because of a little bit of attention I got from people over the "skill" I had in StarCraft. This in itself may sound arrogant, but in actual fact I don't think I was ever better than top 3 zerg outside of Korea and about top 10-15 overall outside of Korea and I think that's pretty realistic so I don't mean to sound arrogant, but there was definitely a lot more attention once I joined ToT and it definitely did effect the way I reacted to people.
Anyway this all leads back to the conversation I had with Ket and why I deleted my blog. My blog used to be almost exclusively poker brags and beats with a tidbit of real life happenings here and there, and I realised this is not how I want to be anyway, it's not how I used to be and I never even enjoyed talking too much about myself or bragging or whining etc, I never have. This is why I got my blog deleted, so that I could stay under the spotlight, play poker or whatever and just do my own thing like I used to, however I realise now, after all this time it's not that simple. The fact that I'm even here writing this blog shows me that I'm never going to be the way I used to be, I'm never going to be the same patient, quiet, utterly humble guy that I think I used to be. It cannot be that way when you become part of a community, when you make a lot of friends, when you have people who rely on you and so on and so forth, you simply cannot just keep yourself to yourself. You have to put yourself out there, and although I kinda miss that, I have plenty enough time and space to do that with where I am physically and emotionally in life right now, so I can keep a nice balance between my own space and time to do what I want by myself and not have to talk to people at all, and still be able to keep up to date with friends and the communities that I'm integrated into. By the way I'm not totally saying that mig or tjbentham are the way that I'm portraying how I used to be, I realilse that what I'm effectively saying is that I used to be a complete loner who didn't speak, good or ill of people, and who did't care for how people perceived me to be at all and I also realise I'm saying I wish I was more like that now, so I guess I appear quite a sad individual right now, but over the years as I have began to understand people, life and "who I am" more and more, I have become a lot more open to people and even have started enjoying it in doses.
Obviously that rant is not really the reason why I posted this blog, it was just a few thoughts in my mind that I didn't write out or explain them as clearly as they are in my mind, but I guess I just wanted to write about the importance of modesty, good manners, patience and various other virtues that I believe I have lost to some degree over the last 4 or 5 years. With all that said, the actual reason I posted this blog was because I finally got around to making the video that I've been talking about making for a few weeks, so alas, here it is...
It's the first full video I've ever done with commentary so my thoughts are not as concise as I'd like them to be, there's a bit of umming and erring and misused termonology as I'm attempting to concentrate on one table while talking about something, but I think it turned out OK all things considering.
Here are the stats from the session for those who care:
It's really hard to talk effectively about ranges and stuff while playing since you don't have much time. For instance in the last hand of the video I basically just said his value raising range on the flop is 2 pair, set or combo draw, but there are probably few 2 pairs and few draw combo draws in his range since he probably doesn't call with A8s, A9s, 75s and a few other hands that make combo draws like many 8xs hands also I completed excluced pure bluffs in his range, and you can never completely exclude that. The fact of the matter is, on the flop there's very few hands in his range for value, cause it's essentially 98s 88 99 JcTc QcJc 7c6c 8c7c, I dunno how many bluffs there are in there so constructing a range when typing is 10x easier than in video. I just wanted to explain more thoroughly that I was never considering folding, was just trying to talk about his range and why c/r is worse than c/c and I think c/c is the best play because it's impossible for him to call me with worse unless he rivered a straight, but he'll vbet that himself anyway, and i get the chance to induce bluffs by c/c whereas I don't by betting.
If you have any comments or whatever just leave them here or in the Personal Poker Videos thread and I'll take a look and try to respond eventually.
So only 799 players registred to the 250k gtd on ipoker yesterday with 100 payouts.
I ended 97th and Im really dissapointed. A 375$ profit cuz i got my seat from winning a satellite is decent I guess for a nl20 player. But I'm really unhappy with one of my last hands in the tournament..
So I was a little bit over average in chips and was ranked in 48th place when there was 101 players left. I had around 25BB left and I checked and saw that the 101th ranked player only had 1/10th of an Ante left so I decided to do something stupid.
I'd been playing really awsome the whole tournament and this guy who's been pretty solid and not showing down anything crazy over the time we sat together opened for 2.5xBB in CO+1 and it was folded to me (who was in the BB).
He had around 16BB left so I covered him with around 6BB or so. Then I decided to unclick my autofold button and instead overbet push 85s all in cuz of the 101th players stack and he snapcalled me with KJo wich I was impressed by, guess he owned me.. and I guess thats the difference by the avarage player in 5-15$ MTT's wich i usually play and this 320$ BI MTT.. And I looked very silly and I still hate myself for that move.
A guy in a lowerstake MTT would fold everything except KK and AA pretty much I think so I was very shocked when he just slapped me in the face with the KJo snapcall. Dunno if snapcalling 16BB with KJo on that EXTREME bubble is good or not cuz I had been playing reeeeeaally tight the last hours of the tourney.
around 4 hands later I was UTG with 4.5BB cuz of the antes and pushed K2s and got called by A8 in the SB and it held up. (Think I pretty much have to push any2 UTG with 4.5BB?)
But that 85 hand is eating me alive, I think its an "ok" move to do in that bubble situation where he is risking the whole tourney in 101th place and has to call 16 BB or so. I didnt expected him to fold his like, AJo+, 99+ hands or so but i really didnt expect to get a call by KJo..
I was pretty angry but I went out after 5 hours and got in time for the Superbowl wich my friends was watching (pretty much the only swedes that watches the superbowl i think? ) So I cooled down with a couple of beers and some chips infront a great great superbowl night and made a profit of 375$ wich is a very good session for me...
Though I had a great shot at going deeper if I just could have let go of the 85s hand, but I fell for temptation
BUT what REALLY irritates me that the KJ guy ended 4th and took home 15 000$..
Im a bitter man But you all know the feeling of doing something you regret!
