Niagara Falls! by Fayth, October 10

So i drived from quebec to niagara falls today, with 2 friends, one of them who's participating in the WPT... it was supposed to be a 9 hours drive initially but it took 11 hours cuz of the goddamn traffic near toronto Either way we finally got here at the holiday inn on the left side of the fallsview casino...

We went to register for the event to play tomorow on day 1B... I got 5% of one guy, and 40% of another, I might also swap some action with takechip and giggy if they want to, we met up with them and a bunch of other quebecers from pokercollectif.com(poker forum with mostly people from quebec) at like 10pm and went to eat at Hooter's, we were 8 and decided to flip the whooping bill of 150$, so takechip took the hat with all the credit cards, called the waitress and told her "please pick one of these to see who pays"... and she went "ooooh that's so mean, i feel baaaad", was quite funny, so she picks a CC, and it's takechip's LOL and he insta went "ah fuck you" LOL was hilarious...

So lookin forward for a nice day1, the structure seems to be pretty fuckin bad but oh well... first big tourney live! Wish me luck! =D

boredom by barbieman, October 10

I had nothing to do cuz bet365 where i currently play, screwed up my acc when I changed currency from SEK to USD, so I can't play there atm.

I got really bored and bald, played some on pokerstars, lost almost all of the sessions winnings 1,5BI to huge spewtard who played 80/3/?? and aggressively post flop, i held JJ and lost to 45o on a 4439T board. Which sucked, only thing that made the session worth while was a this one liner:

Gycepoker: u raise with cum
Dealer: Game #21095396125: KCL19 wins pot ($3.35)
barbieman: u get raised by cum
barbieman: lol gay

Anyhow before and after picture. Yes, my mouth is always open, it's a condition. Everybody in my family has it.

100NL, take two by lazymej, October 10

So I decided to take a second, over-rolled shot today at 100NL. It was interesting to say the least. Ran into one cooler and a hell of a lot of tough spots. People seem way more aggressive, it seemed that way last time as well. But as the session went on things cooled down. It was probably all in my head. It was a short session, and I actually ended up +ve this time! Nothing great but at least I was able to hold my own this time. Cool beans.

I've decided 90% that I will move to iPoker. I just calculated that I would have made +16BI this month so far at 50NL with rakeback alone! So I am definitely missing out here... I think I can compromise on the software. Hopefully it won't tilt me hard and moving there will end up very EV+.

First Canadiens game of the season. Going to eat and watch that now. Go HABS go, 100th season --> the cup.

Session:

live shoot-out by vltava, October 10

Went to Hawaiian Gardens with just under $300 in my pocket last night, disappointed that I didn't get my check yet (for 2k) from PokerStars. Played some 100 NL and decided to sign up for the Thursday night shoot-out ($120 buy-in). Incredibly soft game, but really really small stacks and fast blinds. Three tables, three players at each table advance, pay-out at final is $1060-600-500-400-275. I know, weird, right? I tripled up with TT aipf (versus AQ and K8d, wtflol) in the cash game waiting for the shoot-out to start, and then I won the shoot-out, so it was a good night. I had too much adrenaline at that point to sit down in a cash game and focus enough to play well, and at the same time, I was pretty tired, so I just went grocery shopping and went home. Tired enough that I mostly just bought stuff that would be light and easy to carry in. Except the mandatory 12 pack of Coke. We all have our addictions.

Weird stuff from the shoot-out: Standard AQ fold on the first table bubble to the other big stack's shove, with two small stacks ready to bust. I didn't care if he had Q2, I didn't want to play. He happened to have QQ, or said he did, which I believed. Really cautious player.

In the middle stages, my first table initially seemed ridiculously tough, but then they showed they were clueless about calling and shoving ranges when the blinds got really high (they just folded way too much), so it turned out to be not as much of a cakewalk as these first tables usually are, but still not very tough after all.

Same player, later on, at the final table and on the money bubble, claimed he folded HIS AQ to my M=4 AA shove. I did not think this was a good fold. I had just shoved the previous hand with J8h, although I did not show that hand. I just think that calling/reshoving is so +EV in ICM, although you have to realize that I'm capable of shoving with a really wide range. Okay, I admit that a strong player who knows me would recognize that I am going to turn up with a stronger range that you might expect, since now my M=4 instead of 3, and because I expect my opponents to be more trigger happy since I just shoved with no showdown on the previous hand, but AQ *still* must be ahead of my range, which is maybe 33+, A8+, KT+, QT+, JT, T9s, 98s, 87s.

In this tourney, pretty much the only jump in pay is for first (ignoring a weird slightly larger jump from 5-4 than for 4-3-2), and it's very large, so the tourney's ICM, I think, has strong similarities to WTA ICM, which must make it a clear call for the AQo. He just got superlucky I had aces.

Eventually got HU with a 5:2 chip lead against this same guy and I steamrolled him, T5o > A3 aipf on the final hand, flop KQJ and I binked a five on the river.

Fun fact: no limit cash games with a max buy-in are the brainchild of a man named Dave Simon and they started at Hawaiian Gardens, with one table, before spreading all over the country like wildfire. Also, HG is the only casino I know of that offers cash (not satellite) SNG's, which was also his doing.

Behind the Scenes by k2o4, October 10

Cool video with a bunch of behind the scenes footage at the DNC showing Barack/Biden/Michelle when they're off stage. Some of it's boring but skip around and check it out - about 9 minutes in there's a fun spot with Barack and Michelle backstage goofing off.

If any of you canucks ever want to play a game, I think I'm the best player on LP. After a few games we can set handicaps and bet on them if you want.

Let me know.

Attn Canadian Players by lazymej, October 10

I currently play on Pokerstars but would like to try iPoker. I want to know what you all use as a medium for transferring money to/from poker sites. I am currently having trouble with this and I cannot use my credit card since it is blocked from online gambling. I've considered moneybookers but atm I only have a pathetic $1300 outgoing limit every month or so. I used instant e-checks to get money on stars but I want something that I can use to manage larger sums online between different sites.

Any suggestions/advice?

4 by PplusAD, October 10

Today 1,1 K hands +153$ profits

I really feel like slowly the old PPlusAD who owned the shit outta NL50 is comming back.
I think overall i played a really good session and made lots of good descisions.
Cant play more hands now since i have to concentrate on MMA for the rest of the day.

4 straight winning days in a row !
ship
So last sessions :

7th October + 73$ ... 2K hands
8th October + 134$ ... 2K hands
9th October + 83$ ... 800 hands
10th october+ 153$ ... 1,1K hands

SO basically what did i change compared to when i had my hudge downswing where i lost like 1 buy in in 100 hands ?
basically nothing >-<
I spew a bit less here and there but besides that i play absolutely the same and just dont get fucked over by the dealer anymore that much

GL ALL

On a side note:

Had a phone conversation with my MMA Buddy earlier in teh morning
Unfortunately hegot suspended by doctor for 1 month from Full contact Training
There is no way in hell he will fight in 2 weeks.
I am really sorry about that and i can assure u guys it was nowhere my INtention to hurt him that badly.

We have done really hard sparring with those helmets like 100 times before and there never was any bigger injuries ever.
Also there is no bad blood between us ! We both know that its part of Full Contact fighting sports that u can get hurt when practicing hard before a fight.

Good luck to him !

Why I love sngs. by edzwoo, October 10

I run so much better playing sngs than I do in cash games. In just a few days, I made about $100~ playing the 3.40 10man turbos. Now that I finished my high orbit leaderboard score (8th at the moment, would be sick if it held for top 10), I'm going back to the 6.50 9man turbos, which is where I stopped playing a while back. My first quick session of 8sngs, I ran sick good and ended up about $70~.

Reasons I prefer SNGs over cash games:
1. Waaay more fish.
2. The fish can't leave the game.
3. Occasional grinders are also easy targets because they don't know ICM.
4. Suckouts are much less painful than in cash games, since they happen way more often.
5. Epic upswings.

Obviously I'm running really good atm and I'm due for an royally epic downswing because of the nature of sngs, but it feels so good at the moment. I love it when I'm heads up with someone who luckboxed their way in, blinds are 400-800, and they go, "omg stop goin allin u suk at pokerz", and proceed to get blinded out.

It's so nice by k2o4, October 10

To run good - it causes poker blog posts instead of political ones! hehe

Anyway, just a quick brag of 10 BI in the last 2 days of moving up to NL100, woot! The first day I moved up (I guess it was like 5 days ago) I lost a BI. Since then won it back and more ^^. Now that I made this post I'll probably go on a 20 BI downswing. Oh well. But I think that I'm playing much better and before the coaching with SakiSaki I'd probably only be up 5 BI cause I'd have spewed so much.

Last 5 days of NL100:

Sweet. I think Kapol running good rubbed off on me cause we're buds. (did that sound kinda gay? odam)

lolz

Oh, and sorry for taking that BI off of you Kim - you've been dodging EVERY set I've had lately when I hit vs you so you had to pay me off eventually right!?!!

problem while playing... by Night[Mare], October 10

i am never getting paid big hands ffs...

even though i play kinda laggy (40/32), im only winning from blinds/cbets and losing big pots to bloody coolers. I have no idea how to post from titanpoker but this one hand i had trip queens and the other person goes all in, shows 4-5 offsuit and scores a straight;;

today everytime i raise a fish goes all in vs me. i folded like 3 times but this time i got AQ suited, only to find he had QQ. won one time. 3 hands later i get QQ and he re-raises me to all in again, i pay and he has AA. Another cooler w/e

i just hope to run good for the next few days as i won in two days 22$ and the next three days im about to lose up to 15$. bah swings... i hate how people in microstakes call with random stuff and score hands. Lucky basterds i just hope my bankroll can withstand such things.

Need a break, fuck this game by Sheitan, October 09

Well, it's going from bad to ugly poker wise these last days, i had to withdraw 2k from my live BR leaving me only 1k to play NL200 and what was obvious happened. A sick bad run of cards, couple coolers and a bunch of suck outs (including one 800$ pot AI preflop me holding AA vs this cunt's QQ 200bbs deep, the dumb bitch flopped quads and hit and run yay !). So i busted my live BR (didn't even know it was possible until it happened), i guess 5 bis is not enough even if the games are sick soft....Whatever.

Online got brutal lately too, i just can't score for shit barely making it ITM and cash games sessions are almost always break even or very small profit. I think i've played too much poker and i just don't enjoy it anymore, 8-10h a day for the last 2 months is not something healthy and will burn you soon or later.

On the life side: My wife and I moved back to Montreal cuz the gas price was insanely high a few weeks ago and she was tired to drive every day to her uni for courses. We put the house for rent and the number of people asking for it was suprising, 4-5 phone calls on a daily basis and we had to increase the rent price since they were fighting to get it. Now i hope the incoming crisis won't fuck me up the arse, lmao.

We received a couple of families who wanted to visit and the first family seemed solid so after discussion my wife and I decided we should rent them our house, they'll move in the 1st of November, hopefully they won't create any problems and everything will be smooth.

Good luck at the tables LP.

Blog #1 by FC, October 09

And it begins.

So after a little more than a year of playing NL, I have decided to start a blog in the hopes of encouraging myself to play more and stop lazing about doing fuck all every day!

I started playing Limit Holdem very casually a couple of years ago due to my father, who began playing online seriously in 2002/2003. I started reading LP soon after (SC player). Around August of 2007, a month or so before heading off to University, I moved on to NL. I moved from $25 to $200NL by Christmas and didn't go back to University for the start of the next semester - a combination of not enjoying my course as much as I thought I would, and a desire to continue with my growing interest in poker.

Then I hit a downswing. A rather horrendously bad one. During January and February my roll was crippled and I had to move back down to $0.25/$0.5. I admit that I was a fairly poor regular at the time, playing too many tables and FAR too robitically - my edge was pretty small, but there is no denying the endless stream of setups I was being dealt. In January alone I had 13 KK vs AA AIPF and only 1 AA vs KK. Fun stuff.

I moved from Party to Full Tilt and rebuilt from about $800. I continued my multitabling-robot ways for another month or two, winning, but not by a great deal. After reading a thread here promoting the idea of dropping # of tables and REALLY focusing on evaluating every situation fully, I tried it, unhappy with my current results, and immidiately noticed a huge difference. I have played 4 tables ever since!

My two biggest teachers have been my father, and Liquid Poker. I thank you both. I hope I can give something back.

Recent results at 200NL FTP:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c337eadf5edaffe294711fecc72ac4d8.jpg

If anybody wants to exchange MSNs with a random FTP grinder feel free to send a PM!

Good luck all,

FChopin

I win again ? by PplusAD, October 09

3rd winning session in a row ....

I still must get used to winning sessions again after all that bullshit that happend in September ...

7th October + 73$ ..2K hands
8th October + 134$ ..2K hands
9th October + 83$ ..800 hands

startet the session and had a very bad feeling in expectation to getting crushed from the beginning. ( Sounds lol but when ure just through an insane sick downswing u really must get used to the feeling of not getting crushed every hand again )
All the session was like : Oh shit i have AK and flop Kxx on a dry flop and get called my flop bet .... I probably will get crushed horribly be KQ on river Q for stack ....
Everytime i had Aces i was like ... oh shit they probably will get cracked anyways ...
reason is dealer and onlinepoker absolutely soulcrushed me for 13K hands before i finally pulled of 2 winning sessions the last 2 days.
So today i somehow was full of fear from teh very first hand to experience some sick down again.

Unfortunately i really couldnt deal with it and had to stop the session at hand 810 having +83$ profits being in so much fear of losing it
LOL Sad ...

Well i must get used to winning again.

This session today really made me realize how much soulcrushed my poker confidence in online poker not being rigged was by the downswing in September.

Every AA or KK hand i get preflop i feel like shit being in fear of losing my stack >-< lol
Everytime i hit a Set or top2pair on flop i see the worst turn and river cards comming ...

Well but i am pretty sure having 3 winning sessions in a row is the first step into the right direction.

GL ALL
