Fringe = Fail by k2o4, October 12

So I saw commercials for this new "Fringe" show on Fox and thought "awesome!"... I missed the premiere and was sad. So I DL'd the first episode and then never watched it cause I was too busy with work/poker/Obama stuff. Tonight I had a good poker session (7 buyins woot!) and so I stopped and decided to have some fun and watch Fringe! Bad move.

I watched the first episode and it started off with a bit of an X-files feel. But it quickly dissolved into a hyper paced attempt to build a creepy x-files esque show. Didn't fly with me. they tried to introduce crazy conspiracy shit way too quickly, the characters love story got started already, and overall the story felt like they were trying to skip character development so that they could get to the "juicy stuff" asaply. It was not what I was hoping for and overall fell very flat.

Anyone else watched it?

An NL50 sinner repents by thestoryteller, October 11

The strangest thing happened to me yesterday.

So there I was, a miserable sinner, taking my first real shot at NL50 this week while dowloading porn via bitcomet. Yes, gambling, pornography and copyright infringement all at the same time. Bad beats and coolers came nonstop until my poker graph looked like it was tracking the value of the Aussie dollar.

I was ready to throw my keyboard out the window in disgust when I decided to change the music I was playing in the background to... the Hallelujah chorus. And then my luck just turned around.

Imagine a chorus singing HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! as the perfect flop hits. Imagine FOR THE LORD GOD OMNIPOTENT REIGNETH ringing out as your hand holds up.

+ Show Spoiler +

And then to the jubilant declaration of

KING OF KINGS!
and LORD OF LORDS!

I inflict grevious harm on a multitabling villain with a nasty, heaven sanctioned cooler.

+ Show Spoiler +

In a rush of religious ecstacy I continued with "Angels We Have Heard on High", appropriately sung by the Law Vegas Masters Singers accompanied by the Las Vegas Philharmonic. As the hymn's distinctive chorus rang out,

GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO!
GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO!

this hand happened:

+ Show Spoiler +

I'm sure nobody calls PF 4 bets with hole cards like those without divine intervention.

The track ended and I immediately ran into this hand:

+ Show Spoiler +

But it was not long before "Come All Ye Faithful" was reverberating from my speakers. As I roared out "GLORY TO GOD, GLORY IN THE HIGHEST" I came storming back, delivering the smackdown (smitedown?) to win a big chunk of it back.

+ Show Spoiler +

The rest of the session continued in that vein. When I finally stopped, I found that my download speed had dropped to 6kbs and I had won back the 6 buy ins I had lost and a whole lot more so my overall winrate is now a decent 3ptbb/100.

I'm definitely attending evening mass tonight and giving a hefty donation.

5kb00m by rockman255, October 11

so ummmmm, update, reached 5k goal, will shoot at nl100fr shortly

im trying to nit it up br wise because i figure if i cant handle grinding out this many buyins at nl50 then i wont be able to stand grinding at higher limits plus it just makes me more comfortable i guess.

goals by end of year:

[ ] become a sick grinder, i still dont play enough i want to be playing like 10-12 hour days and i still only do 6-8 on good days

[ ] hit supernova, should be okay to hit by mid nov to early dec.

[ ] become comfortable with nl100fr on stars. i dont have any definition of what means i have, but ill know.

ive only played like 130k lifetime hands at nl50 and i feel like at nl100 i want to play at least 200k.

shout outs to all lp and in particular all my fr nits , good luck on the tables guys.

ahhhhh by lazymej, October 11

Well shit, maybe the move wasn't such a good idea after all. I think I have grown way too accustomed to Pokerstars that I cannot play on anything else? I played 3 sessions today, 2 4 tabling and 1 2 tabling and I got a collective winrate of -18BB/100. Srsly, wtf? I dunno what it is, those little avatar people make it feel like a joke and and then I play like shit. I tried iBollide too to try and make things better, but same thing. Well, I think I'll move back to Stars. Rakeback must be so nice, but what does it matter when your lose rate makes it look like a mickey mouse joke.

isn't it lovely. /wrists

I am very close to droping back to 100 nl, we'll see next few days.
I hate life obv and will be playin 0.5/1 in november not 2/4. 11 sessions this month and not one in the green. U gotta be kiddin me - stupid monkeys runnin like gods all the time, random coolers and ofc tilt/spew a bit. I just gotta hope it will end soon and i will be able to recover till the end of this month.
Take care and gl.

My first blog (pics) by Texas, October 11

I enjoy reading lp so i felt like writing a bit; its my first blog here; just some random stuff about recent happenings in my life.

Got some freetime next to my job so I decided to spend some time on online poker. I've played some poker around 2yrs ago but quit because of job,gf and sports only a few weeks after ive started. wasnt any good and just played for fun a bit.
So I started playing again in october on micro tables $0.01/$0.02 NL, mostly 6-max with 6-8 tables at the same time. I played around 2k hands so far (will try to play around 30k hands until the end of october). graph of my last two sessions:
http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/7415/gra2cd1.jpg

I've bought a new samsung 22" widescreen monitor to complete my setup. nothing special but it gets the job done and i like the black colour it has.

Below some random pictures of my trip to netherlands during this summer with my gf (no partying, no rush, just lots of silence and time for relaxing)

fuuuuuck by PplusAD, October 11

- 200$ today

absolutely nothing i could do ....

tried my best ...

but well thats poekr sometimes ...

played 3 K hands ...
ended the session when i lost KK to Ako preflop for 120BB

so yeha made 50$ rakeback ....

so all in all -150$ today

really ridiculous session

whats especially sucking is that i made it back from -270 to -14$ at liek 2,5 K hands.

And then i just lose 190$ in 10 minutes all due to suckouts
lol

so overall rebuilding process

7th October + 73$ ... 2K hands
8th October + 134$ ... 2K hands
9th October + 83$ ... 800 hands
10th october+ 153$ ... 1,1K hands
11th October -152$ ... 3K hands

hoping for a monster session tomorrow !

Beat: Playing AKHoosier1 heads-up, and being quite disappointed by his play. Given that I needed the money more than the ticket, I wasn't exactly playing my heart out to win, and he really failed to adjust to exploit that.

Variance: Wanted to play the EPT Warsaw Step 6 because they pay $2900 for 2nd and 3rd, but couldn't because nobody wants to go to Poland.

The lighter Side by k2o4, October 11

Reposting this cause in this time of nonstop smears it's nice to seem some positive images.

Cool video with a bunch of behind the scenes footage at the DNC showing Barack/Biden/Michelle when they're off stage. Some of it's boring but skip around and check it out - about 9 minutes in there's a fun spot with Barack and Michelle backstage goofing off.

Is anybody betting on the election? by Feiticeira, October 11

Would be interesting to see if anyone would be betting on McCain to win at this point in the campaign.

(I'd definitely take any action against Obama)

iPoker so far by lazymej, October 11

I just played my first session on Propaganda Poker (50NL to get used to things) and to sum it up, it was completely /wrists. I really think the aesthetics and layout completely sucks wrinkly old scrotums. Haven't enjoyed it at all so far except for maybe a few moments when my overpair rivered a set vs a flopped set. That was about it. I am going to try playing again later today so hopefully things will work out better and hopefully I can get used to it. I miss stars

Offering coaching. by Cro)Deadman, October 11

I'm offering coaching to people who play Fullring at NL50 or NL100.

Hourly rate would be 65 for NL50 players and 75$ for NL100 regs, doing it anything under that would be massively -EV for me since my hourly rate is way higher but I just wanna give coaching a shot.

If one would take a 5-10 lession pack and would be unsatisified how things are going by the 3rd lession refunds are available.

Payments would be done 50% upfront 50% on the end of the lession pack.

Long term coaching is also a possibility If I get multiple applies for it I will only take one person who I will pick after reviewing some important factors as dedication to poker, future plans and personality.

Quite a few people can vouch for my credibility and my game understanding.

If interested PM me and we'll go from there.

I play a 17/14 style at FR and I'm a big winner at NL100 and NL50,currently playing NL200...

Thank you, Dan.

EPT Budapest by Joe, October 11

I won the EPT Budapest package worth $9,250 via PS EPT Steps, which seems to me like a kinda easy way to EPT's btw.

That means, I am coming to Budapest on the 27th of October and will stay there till 2nd of November probably.

Anyone here knows Budapest? I heard its a nice city, so I would like some recommendation on where to go, what to visit, etc.

Also, who else is coming from LP?

On an unrelated note, I am currently going through probably the worst downswing this year so far. I started the month very good, being almost +10k in first 4 days, but since then I have been losing every single day and managed to lose like $24k or something like that playing mostly 3/6 with a bit of 5/10. Kinda dissapointing since I was hoping October would be my best month of the year as it was the past 2 years. Well there is still a chance to make it the month of the year, but I would prolly need to hit some tourney or get on a sicko heater for the rest of the month in cash games.
