stocks are the cool things to talk about these days so i'll add my words
this stuff is bad and getting worst
in general how people interpret the morning/closing action is like morning the amateurs will get their trades in, and then the later hours are all dictated by the pros. seems like every time there's a gap in the morning, it usually goes lower. kinda like how public is getting fucked. no clue when they'll lose their confidence but i guess that's a possible indicator where academically educated people give up hope.
but i read somewhere (i forgot where), cuz i been readin a ton, that many stock broker accounts are having cash reserves ready to buy stocks. people like to pick bottoms i guess. and i guess reason for it is that all the retarded stock market books all praise warren buffett and buy and hold for 7% zomg. and that stock market is efficient and buy and hold is correct strategy (actually taught in schools wtf).
i exited all my holdings yesterday because i have no idea where this shit is going. and today it went down, woot lucky i exited.
stuff to look for tommorow:
1. will the greedy amateurs who missed a chance for the 11% jump come back in and push it for a few more days? if yes im prolly switchin back to a 100% short position since our crisis is still so bad than what the news is saying.
2. i think we'll see a bounce at the 800 point level in the S&P since its like our last support level.
3. i think its time to short.
some thoughts and ideas
1. i'll pick up shares of blizzard in the future, not now b/c i still think the market is pricey
2. avg s&p p/e level is still ~15. not that p/e really mean much. but many people still believe in it.
3. stocks are cool
some interestin ideas....
this shit really looks that Japan in the 1990 bubbles and ima quote straight from wikipedia
Deflation started in the early 1990s. The Bank of Japan and the government have tried to eliminate it by reducing interest rates (part of their 'quantitative easing' policy), but this was unsuccessful for over a decade. In July 2006, the zero-rate policy was ended, and by 2008 Japan was again sustaining positive inflation rates.
Systemic reasons for deflation in Japan can be said to include:
Fallen asset prices. There was a rather large price bubble in both equities and real estate in Japan in the 1980s (peaking in late 1989). When assets decrease in value, the money supply shrinks, which is deflationary.
Insolvent companies: Banks lent to companies and individuals that invested in real estate. When real estate values dropped, these loans could not be paid. The banks could try to collect on the collateral (land), but this wouldn't pay off the loan. Banks have delayed that decision, hoping asset prices would improve. These delays were allowed by national banking regulators. Some banks make even more loans to these companies that are used to service the debt they already have. This continuing process is known as maintaining an "unrealized loss", and until the assets are completely revalued and/or sold off (and the loss realized), it will continue to be a deflationary force in the economy. Improving bankruptcy law, land transfer law, and tax law have been suggested (by The Economist) as methods to speed this process and thus end the deflation.
Insolvent banks: Banks with a larger percentage of their loans which are "non-performing", that is to say, they are not receiving payments on them, but have not yet written them off, cannot lend more money; they must increase their cash reserves to cover the bad loans.
Fear of insolvent banks: Japanese people are afraid that banks will collapse so they prefer to buy gold or (United States or Japanese) Treasury bonds instead of saving their money in a bank account. This likewise means the money is not available for lending and therefore economic growth. This means that the savings rate depresses consumption, but does not appear in the economy in an efficient form to spur new investment. People also save by owning real estate, further slowing growth, since it inflates land prices.
Imported deflation: Japan imports Chinese and other countries' inexpensive consumable goods, raw materials (due to lower wages and fast growth in those countries). Thus, prices of imported products are decreasing. Domestic producers must match these prices in order to remain competitive. This decreases prices for many things in the economy, and thus is deflationary.
---------------------
whats different this time?
dollar's actually rising
stuff to look for:
asians as we know like to save. but americans like to spend. so will americans keep spending? or will they start saving? if this is true then like we can just short everything cuz its the repeat of japan.
oh yea i also wanna add that we didnt care back then in japan cuz it was only like a small island in the middle of nowhere. but here in the USA we diversity risk globally and we're getting help too.
will these factors help? or will this be a repeat of history?
Tourneys... still dont like them even /w cashingby LandLord, October 15
Like I said in the other post I won $11 tourney dollars on stars. Im not a fan of tourneys because the larger the fields you run into the more luck you need and they just take so long... you could play for hours and still win dick which sux nuts. I mean look at the stars sunday 200k or something like that. They get over 15k ppl playing in it sometimes which is rediculous. So much luck needed to take that thing down. Anyways I played in 3 small tourneys today and managed to make the final table in all of them but only cash in two of them. Made a massive $5 in winnings! Might try and actually grind the real micros lol but there to tideous and I cant even imagin how bad the 2cent/4cent LHE games are lol.
So to make it clear on what your tax cut would be under Obama, they developed a tax calculator. Pimpin. Under Obama I get 1k tax cut, under McCain I get 0.
so, i started getting backed on september 16th (just about 1 month ago). since then:
ON FULL TILT:
9/16/08: won $24 freezeout for $4257
9/20/08: won $20r for $3161
9/28/08: 19th in Sunday Brawl for $1700+ including bounties
10/5/08: 5th in $50 cubed for $2614
10/10/08: 4th in $50 cubed for $1940
10/12/08: 3rd in $163 for $11,053
ON POKERSTARS:
9/17/08: 5th in $11r for $3840
9/28/08: 3rd in $215 HU for $4396
10/3/08: 1st in Nightly Hundred Grand for $20,557
10/14/08: 1st in Daily Eighty Grand for $15,234
so overall we have both profited about $15,000 so far!!
the best table to be at and still getting owned...by LandLord, October 15
Right now as I type this Im sitting at a talbe with 3 guys who play over 50% of there hands. Everytime I get a hand they outdraw me etc and its fucking pissing me off. What is the best way to play against a table where you are garunteed to have atleast 3 callers in a LHE game?
So I´m broke. Everything´s gone, nothing left... But actually its not that bad. It was just my SS account where I had 184,75 SEK. A friend visited and wanted to play some poker. But I have put in a rule of not playing at FTP until I feel I can win again. And my gut was right. Lost with AK vs AQ AI pre.
Right now I´m trying to stop my friend from tilting away everything. He lost a couple of BI and decided to win like every pot. Since everyone usually does that on the lower levels on SS I dont believe he has good chances of succeding. Will try and play som CS instead...
I make a great play, trap a guy, get 17th out of about 300...
right here... + Show Spoiler +

Octoberfesting + weed and sleep relation...by LandLord, October 14
I just got back from hockey practice... sasme old shit today nothing new lol. Like always I cant sleep after hockey but lately its been every day that I cant get to sleep. Ive done a lot of sleeping as to why I cant get to sleep like I used to and I have come to one conclusion because its the only thing that has really changed lately. I THINK it could possibly the fact that Ive usually smoked weed a few hours before I crash and when I go to bed Im usually just burning out so its no problem going to sleep. I havent smoked weed in a while just because all my buddies are at school and it seems like no one has fucking weed around here right now. For the last few weeks it seems like I cant get a solid sleep to save my life. I toss and turn for 2 hours, get a little sleep, wake up, toss and turn, get a little sleep and repeat... it SUCKS. I get maybe 3 hrs total sleep and have to wake up at 5am to go to work. Seriously if smoking weed is the only way that I will get a decent sleep thens o be it. Anyone else find they sleep better after they have smoked weed?
Tomorrow Im going to the shit show that is Octoberfest. The Octoberfest parties here are the biggest in Canada, if not North America (Kitchener, Ontario) I went last year and I had a blast. Everyone is just so shittered and has a great time. Lots of my friends from highschool are coming back from school just to go to this event. Im so pumped for it. I havent gotten to hit up any of the other events so I got some ground to make up for. If you live in the Kitchener area and have never been to the Octoverfest events you are seriously missing out and you should get tickets ASAP! I would also suggest that you get a mean pre drink going before you go because its like $5.50 a beer and lines are sometimes huge.
As for poker I had another good day, managed to book a 30BB day which is always nice. Tables were great and had some huge fish donating today + I ran pretty good which is always nice. Hopefully I can keep on playin well and move up in stakes soon.
Ill give you guys a report on what went down at the fest tomorrow
I always see the threads about people hooking up on msn/aim chatting. But most of those threads are for Cash game players . I need some MTT contacts. I only have about 2 and I'm sure they are tired of me bugging them by now haha
Last time I wrote I really wanna change stuff, especially my rhythm. That is going pretty well. I have had a couple of slips going to bed at 7 am, but there was usually liquor involved, so I'll just put that in the relaxation department. I have been very busy with Pokernews Strategy, recording new movies and writing stuff, and new Poker programs that are gonna launch in Holland. Last time I couldn't really release a lot, but they just officially launched the site.
When you go to the site, they show a commercial we recorded past week. It was really cool to do and it's an amazingly well-constructed project. It's really the way poker programs should be constructed and setup and not some of the lesser quality shows that are only trying to get some money off the poker rush. I'm not gonna call it a hype anymore cause that's not what it is imo. My grandparents can be proud of me, I come off as a complete degen. At least they didn't show the vodka shot that was also recorded!
Tv shows, moves and games:
I have been working out ab it again and maintaining a better schedule, even though that's hard with all the godlike TV-shows. I'm really chronicing out on a lot of stuff. Oh evelyn told me I should watch True Blood, if you're into a bit darker TV and you can handle fictional stuff like Vampires, DOWNLOAD IT. It's one of the best shows I ever seen, cause it's really in my lane. I love the vampire stories and the show is dark and relentless, pure gold. Also I started watching It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia, a very very cool comedy. The jokes are very smart and not standard US Cable simple comedy bs. So those are two good tips. Also, which is gonna sound weird ripping on simple comedy shows 1 line back, I really like Wipeout. It's a spin-off from Japanese gameshows. The show, as opposed to the Japanese ones, which are all about athleticism and prestige, is hilarious and has a lot of good slapstick humor combined with lame commentators and MS Paint.
To stay in comedy:
In other entertainment; the new Fifa came out a week ago here. In the US it should be released tomorrow officially. I have been playing it for a bit and I absolutely love it. I fucking hated fifa 08, which is just too realistic, I thought i'd never say it, but it's true. They completely made throughpasses useless, they made distance shots a crapshoot, and put the game speed down to turtle. Fifa 07 is one of my favorite games ever, no matter what genre. This is basically a mix, where they made the game faster and fixed the passes and distance shots, but not as arcade like as fifa 07. I really liked the shit u could do with finesse and curve shots in 07, but it was kinda, if you know how to do it, u score most of the time, and im not a big fan of that. This is a perfect combination, so for all sport games fans, get it... and then lose your money to me, cause I'll rape you silly.
To stay in the video department, I mean holy shit. To anyone with a gamin history, Zelda has to be used. If you were one of the Sega donkeys, please stop reading my blog forever, you're not worthy . Anyways, I started playing Zelda when I was 7 yrs old on the Nes. I saw they have a trailer, of an upcoming movie. Please don't fuck up this movie.. i mean seriously? How many good movies of 'legacy' type themes have been fucked up. Some that come to mind, Alexander, Supermans, Hulk from a few years back (im happy they were gutsy enough to make a new one that quickly), the new Indiana Jones was a disgrace (lol southpark), Arthur was ridiculously bad too. IF they mess up zelda Im gonna invest my bankroll to hunt them down ^^. Anyways:
EDIT: I JUST HEARD THIS WAS A FUCKING APRIL FOOLS JOKE? AM I REALLY THAT FAR BEHIND, BUT WHOEVER DID THIS, I SHAKE MY FIST AT YOU SIR.
If its a fake and it is fan art, please burst my bubble and then sorry to get you excited, I havent actually researched it, so it might be bs. I also heard rumors about a DBZ movie, which would be awesome. As you might have noticed, I'm a complete nerd, and proud of it!
Poker
I have been grinding, also cause of the better rhythm, but to very good results. I lost a shitload of money, mostly on 5-10. I had some insane hands, which actually ease the pain. I dunno why people complain when they lose insane hands. You can do nothing wrong in sick setups. I had two hands, one being {Kd}{Kh} vs {Qc}{9c} on {Kc}{Jc}{Jh}{10c} and {As}{Js} vs {Kh}{Qh} on {Ac}{10h}{Jh}{9h}{Ad}. IF you lose hands like that, there is nothing you can do, you did nothing wrong, you are always gonna lose. That gives me peace of mind, whereas when you lose JJ vs AA, it might look like a setup sometimes, but you MIGHT have done something wrong. Ive had a lot of ridiculous hands, so Im pretty careless about the downswing. Also since I have been working out again, Im a lot stronger mentally. I think I'm gonna be playing a bit of 3-6 to regain composure and some confidence and not get demotivated.
Today I played the 400 euro bounty tournament in Rotterdam. I started of ok with a small stakc increase, but it just went horribly wrong after, I lost most of the hands I was in and one time folded an overpair when I was pretty obviously beat. I busted after pushing on the turn with {10c}{8s} on {10d}{9d}{9h}{3c}, to be called by {Ah}{10h}. The bounty structure was weird, the buyin was 400, 200 of which went to the bounties! Thats pretty steep, but reeally lucrative to play like an idiot and put people allin :D. I love 30-70's with half th ebuyin on the line.
Tomorrow is the 1000 euro buyin with a 15k stack. The structure should be awesome as it is a 3 day event with only a 100 or so players. I hope I can ship it, or play some cashgames if i dont :D. It's the biggest tourney up until the master classics. OF course i wanted to play the Dutch Open, but for some ridiculously retarded reason, they capped the tournament to 150 people, with only a 500 euro buyin haha. I mean, it's a really popular tournament, make it 2k and it will reach 150. This is just ridiculous and a lot of people are left out. I mean or don't cap it.
If anyone in Holland has a ticket, but is not playing, please, let me know!
Last week I went to a soccer match, which has been a while. I went with 5 friends to Holland - Iceland. It was a world cup qualification match, which is always pretty huge. It's so cool to go to the national team. The atmosphere is really good, a lot less aggressive then people behave during club matches. Netherlands won 2-0, after a decent match. Here's a video of it:
Btw, I keep saying it, let me know what you thought of my videos so far on pokernews strategy and what you think can be improved. As per request Im working on a lower stakes series, which should be up as some of my next videos. Also 2 MTT videos are done, so I hope you'll like those.
im sorry in advance for posting this, but ive lost $770 today and its about triple of what ive ever lost in a day. i honestly do not feel i was playing badly, its been donks with stone cold nuts or donks drawing out (this one more often) today.
you're probably better off just listening to this awesome sad song by gnr :o
what do you do after a day like this? do i step back down? in the last 7k hands my bankroll has gone from 5.7k to 4.4k

i think that it was a lot of flopping 80:20 and getting drawn out..
i completely acknowledge that i have a lot to learn and im always trying to improve my game, but today.. i really dont think i spewed, i swear to god. usually when im upset i like spew off 1 stack in anger as a big bluff, or something. i didnt.
So I'll be playing the Super Tuesday [$1050 buyin ] today no matter what that starts in about 25 minutes [19:55 ET]. I always have class at 20:00 ET and given that the teacher cancelled it, I got a chance to play it.
I'd like to sell up to 50% (you can buy 10% if you want too).
50% = $525
10% = $105
I finished 33rd in last weekends Sunday Brawl + 8 KO's, 73rd in the FTP $750k gtd, 4th last saturday in a $33 shitty freezeout and 16th in thursdays nightly $109 35k gtd, so i think im running / playing good lately.

Positive Energy... Does it really #$%@ing work?!?by Babygrand, October 14
This past month has been the biggest roller coaster of my life/ poker career. I am a full time cash game player, but i am down like 25 out of my last 30 sessions. (Maybe even worse, I dont want to check PT cuz it is so bad) Every single time I sit I just know I am going to lose. I got perfect runner runnered by PoorUser and coolered a buncha times. But I just know it's going to happen. I know I am going to lose hands. I am 2 or 3 for my last 30 or so largest pots of $2500+.
I am the biggest critic of things like The Secret and other "energy" driven psychotic ideas. However, last week, I decided that I was going to be a psycho. Two days I guaranteed 5 figure days and performed focus and positive thinking "rituals" during every break. Ya, really weird. But when your ass is gettin handed to you, you might try anything. I ended up FTing the super tuesday and the second chance last week. Then I was in the 100 rebuy on wednesday I think it was. I looked at my roommate and said, "This one is mine, good luck in the quarter mill, Im not kidding." And I ended up actually taking it down.
I kind of thought, finally some luck came my way. So I entered in more cash games, only to get crushhhhed again in a horrible way. And the sick thing is... I knew I was going to lose and just sat to make sure of it!!! I know I am not outmatched in these games. Every game I sat in I watched the table, marked a donk, and knew the regs like I always have my whole career when playing above 3/6. So is being negative actually costing me session after session? I know experienced players know exactly what I am talking about. You know when you are in a hand and u just know 100% the 3 outer is hitting? And it hits.
So am I crazy thinking that positive thinking and energy might be possible? Never in my life would I say something like this until this week. I dont think that I will ever not be superstitious ever again. Even if it doesnt help I know 100% that it can't hurt. I will never be sitting in a game where I am not 100% positive and confident. (Not confident in my ability to beat the game, confident that I am actually going to beat the game. That nothing can stop me, even beats and coolers). I know a buddy of mine who plays $5200 HU SnGs. If he has a losing session, he sits $200 HUs until he logs a positive session. It gets his confidence back and gets him thinking positively.
So from now on I think I am going to perform kind of a positive mentality ritual, just to add one more thing to the equation. Before every session I am going to walk out on my balcony, take a look at the Chicago skyline, take a few deep breaths, and enjoy life for a few moments. If I lose 3-4 buyins at 10/20, i'll drop limits and continue my session. I will continue dropping until I can log a positive 3-4 buy-in session, and then jump back up to the 10/20 game.
Hi everyone, been doing great at 200nl and i plan to keep up the good work. Again i have to thank my brother for all his help, and especially for all his patience with me, which I understand isn't easy. He put a lot of time into me being a better poker player and evolving me into a "thinking player". So thanks Tom
I was looking into one of my old jacket pokets in my room which I haven't worn in over 2 years and found this card. I remember a guy sat beside me on the subway and asked me If i played poker ( he saw a AdAc pendant on my neck ), so I said yes. Well long story short, he told me he has cancer and doctors gave him about 8-10 months left to live since it spread to other organs, so he was trying to promote a new card game while he was still alive. He just wanted to share his idea with others and leave something behind so the world remembered him. He said one day this game would be as popular as texas holdem, or atleast this was his dream. So I took a pic of it to share with you guys. R.I.P
What you guys think? Can't blame a guy persuiting his dream though
