I'm SpeedyJack. I'm a college student and have had an interest in poker for a while now. In the past I played Starcraft and DotA, at average and high levels, respectively. I figured poker would fit my personality nicely, I have a strong attention span and though I'm pretty excitable I don't change moods easily. I decided to commit a bankroll to pokerstars and grind out 10K hands at .01/.02 to get some base numbers and tell if the books I've read and the websites/blogs I've followed were worth anything.
I'm about halfway through and though I've entertained the thought of moving up from .01/.02 I've decided to grind them all out. I've been playing for a little under two weeks and only 5K hands, and as I understand the importance of large sample sizes for meaningful numbers I don't assume anything to be permanent. I have been spewing some chips trying to get a handle on exactly what these people will re-raise me with, but as I continue I don't find any need to call down to know what they have, there are only a couple types of players at this level and I can usually tell by their better patterns (or lackthereof) exactly what they're holding.
My play style is shaping up to be fairly aggressive (21.1/17.7/3.9), but as I said the sample is only 5K hands so that could easily shift a bit. I started off at two tables, but quickly realized I could double that with no ill effects, I now six table and am feeling pretty comfortable, I see no reason I won't be on eight in a short while. I'll post an update at 10K hands before I move up, but if everything continues as it is I'll finish these 10K then play 5K profitably at every level I move up to until my bankroll restricts me (I'm using 30 BI as a baseline number) and then simply grind until I can move up at other levels.

Just got done with my session, played 24k hands at nl100 and end up a mother fuckin dolla lol, plus like 7.5k vpp. I ran really really bad when i was focused but the last like 8k hands i was sleeping. I did have a point where i was up 500 then was down 1.35k next thing I knew but grinded my way back to even.
At 418k total hands, only 2k off pace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will post some interesting hands 2morrow but im about to pass out.
I just realized i still have to play 108 hours more this month, jesus fucking christ lol idk what I was thinking doing this but I guess the money will be totally worth it as the most I have ever made before was like 4k-5k in a month, 25k+ will just be surreal considering i was a 25nl grinder like 2-3 months ago. 108 hours 10 more days!
I went to bed last night with 1 goal - have a monster Friday to make up for my spewy 7 BI loss on Wednesday. I can happily go to bed tonight saying that I achieved my goal thanks to lots of fish and a semi heater (mostly just ran normal which to me is a heater since I'm used to running like shit). Thank god for the weekends.
I played especially well while doing 8-18 tables. There were points in the night where I had so many awesome tables to choose from that I was on a lot of wait lists, and then I'd get sat on all of em at once. So I'd have a bunch of tables going and would have to slowly thin em out by closing the tighter ones and trying to get back to ~10.
I did run good vs the reg's which was a relief. My pair + FD held up vs 2 overs + bigger FD to stack a mega nit. I also had TT hold vs AQ AIPF. But overall I just played well and didn't get screwed over very often. God that makes poker so much more fun!
The other good news is that I cleared the $650 bonus. Yes, I got the smaller bonus cause right now I need money sooner rather than later. I was able to cash that out tonight and should get it near the end of the month, which is great so that I will be set in terms of bills and all of that jazz. But on top of clearing the bonus I was able to win 11 BI today! 2 in the morning during a coaching session with sakisaki, and 9 more tonight vs the fish.
My 2 biggest losing hands of the night were both sets that got sucked out on. Those were also the only times I lost a full stack. I lost a couple 70-80 BB hands though that I probably could have avoided and only lost 30-40 BB. But overall my losing hands were pretty well played.
This is probably going to be a rare occurrence. Seriously, I always hit these minor heaterish sessions and then get beaten to the pavement the next few days. I've been on a constant up and down journey btwn 2k and 3k. Right now I broke 3k and I really hope it holds.

OMFG, almost forgot! Once I started hitting hands at the end (the point where the graph suddenly starts going up) I got all pumped and started doing my best rainkhan impression. It seemed to help me keep running good so I spent the last 800 hands or so screaming "ONNNNEEE TIMMMEEE" and "TTHHHAATTSSS HOOWWWW WEEE DOOO ITTTT!" and "Hoo haa hoo hooo haa" at my computer screen, occasionally typing "BULLLLDDDOOZZZERRRR" into the chat and overall annoying the shit outta my GF. But I only lost one AI while doing my Rainkhan impression, so maybe I need to do it more often??
well, i was going for a career day nearly 20bi but then todays session completely tanked at the end where i guess i dropped close to 10BI sharply, i feel i was playing strongly and i just ran into silly stuff like KK v AA, sets where villain had a very wide range, ridiculous ev drawouts and the superdonk who was 90 vpip(who i think took 2.5bi from me alone ).

So ya, anyway again, my friends dragged me to this gay club (this is standard) and we were chillin. so today was really good for once, i even made top 27 of an 800 man tourney but then i busted out AK v 88 for 26th and a 2BI ship of like 98 bucks or something.
it was kind of interesting, my deepest run in a tourney that large so far, all throughout the middle stages of the tournament i was playing shortstacked and i was amazed that i got so many folds, maybe thats like what you guys mean when you win alot without showing down in tourneys, i think it was just dumb luck mostly, and then finally when i had TT someone did happen to call me down and they showed 99 and i held =D

I totally dont get this. Seems like a sentence that was inmplemented just because it sounds cool. I dont see any connection of that sentence with the story at all.
I think I simply don't know how to play and the fact that so many enthusiastic new players are picking up the game makes me wonder if it's worth it to invest energy in this when I'm struggling now and it's only gonna get harder... If I can't beat NL20 and now NL10, I probably don't have a bright future ahead of me in this game.
And if it is running bad (and it feels pathetic even saying this anymore), the fact that I want to quit, makes me wanna quit even more coz following that logic, a medium-long bad run made me lose the faith in myself. Which again means I don't have what it takes.
And it's fine I guess, some people do some things better, other ppl do other things better.
I will put ~30K more hands in, and I'll try to make the most of it.
I will analyze every single hand I wasn't sure about, I will post many of those here.
After that I will see, but if I don't have a revelation of some kind i.e. if the feeling about this game stays the same, I will quit.

Since lifes been pretty and I feel like I've been playing really well lately I decided to move up. So far so good up 4 buy-ins in about 1500 hands. 50NL is just as soft as 25NL so I don't really think I'll be moving back down unless I got turbo tilt monkey or I just run horrendous.
Shit is fucking rigged I've ran so bad both times I want to hammer a nail into my fuckin skull. I don't know how that makes any sense but maybe it gets my point across.
As promised, I got the BR to 3500. This past week I've been slacking a bit due to school but playing enough to keep the game decent. I'm hopping onto 100NL this week and plan to put in the motherfucking WORK. Unfortunately I was greeted by horrendous cards/beats/tilt; the game seems to require more mental fortitude and playing robotically/solidly might not be optimal in terms of growth as a poker player.

Well, in poker I am doing soso and not putting in all that many hands, I just feel unmotivated and bored with it and I try to avoid playing when I feel that way. But in life I am running pretty good at the moment.
I never considered being a full time poker player all that long. It is something I definitely want to experience but I have always had my mind set on educating myself sooner or later. The past few years I have on and off been thinking of going to medschool. Medicine facinates me alot and I think it would suit me perfectly. Unfortunately it is really hard to get in since you pretty much need perfect grades from high school(which I definitely dont have durr) or you can score a top score on the swedish "högskoleprovet" which I guess is the equivalent of the american SAT.
Yesterday I recive the results for högskoleprovet which I did like a month ago and I binked it at 1.9, 2.0 being the top score so I was very close at acing it. Now this morning I read in the paper that getting into medschool has become alot easier on several schools in sweden and that you now proably only need 1.8 or 1.9 where you used to need 2.0
I am very happy right now, I will apply to a couple of schools next semester so if all goes well I will start school again next fall. This would be pretty great, I think just playing poker without a plan has been wearing down on me as I feel pretty useless, but now I have a goal set and I can spend the following year just getting as good as i possibly can at poker and bank as many dollars as possible.
Played my first 50NL session yesterday, went ok I ended up +0.5BI Made a few mistakes and overplayed a few hands.. Played ok overall though. This was just a small shot, I'll stay at NL25 till the end of this month with a few occasional shots at NL50.
Wednesday was a crazy day as well, opened up my usual 12x25NL game and went on a 16BI downswing within 4k hands. Went trough alot of setups/coolers and bad spewy plays tilting a little. Decided to get myself together and regain my focus to win back some losses. I got breakeven at 11.5k hands but didn't realize it and just kept playing ending the 11h marathon -5BI over 12.5k hands. Good thing there's rakeback
