Hai Guyz by dejokah, November 28

Finally got 100$ on stars after many failed transaction attempts, i feel excited about being able to play again after much frustration, thanks to the person on my PS Request topic who suggested Western Union it worked out great, really fast and easy.

Will start NL5 and move to NL10 with 200$ and then to NL25 with 750$ if i ever get there. =p

I used to play NL25/50 but I've always been very irregular, undisciplined player and couldn't take the game serious even if my life depended on it, still remember my first 200$ something roll that i lost in one night playing blackjack on partypoker (good memories) will work hard to change these negative aspects.

I've read some great blogs here on LP from really dedicated guys with decent BR management and I'll try to follow their steps, from the top of my head edzwoo, rockman and a few others low stakes players.

I intend to use this blog to keep track of my own thoughts and get much needed help from more experienced players, I`m setting up PT3 but i don't think I'll be using any HUD at least until NL25 so it's only going to be used to keep winnings recordsgraphs and find leaks in my game.

Playing FR for now and i don't think i wanna change that for awhile, i have a question, you guys think it's a good thing to change sites when moving UP to get bonuses/rackeback ?

Well that's it for now, off i go to my first session, thoughts and suggestions are highly appreciated.

November :) by lazymej, November 28

I permanently moved up from 50nl to 100nl during the weekend so I have been playing it for a few days now. Results have been very pleasing so far. One of my goals for November was to have a +$2k month, and that looked really improbable with the start of the month. I don't know why but at the beginning of the month I always run super bad plus I always find the need to spew money everywhere with fancy play syndrome . So ya, started off the month losing $200 at 100nl and another $550 at 50nl in under 2000 hands which is just lol/slashwrists/killmenowplz.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/lazymeJ/beginningNovsolidDSrightthere.jpg
oh, so brutal

So I was pretty much playing catch-up for the first half/two thirds of the month which was pretty gay. And then the Poker Gods turned my doom-switch off and I started to run good/decent again:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/lazymeJ/yesplz.jpg
yesplz

So I ended up recovering from my downswing and got out of the red zone and then kept going up till I reached my goal of a $2k month :D I'm pretty proud of myself.

proof

Another goal was to make Platinum Star this month, which will be happening today or tomorrow with 500VPPs left to clear. I was supposed to get this last month but I barely played at the end of the month so I didn't make it. I will get it 110% for sure this month.

Oh ya and I just played my biggest winning session so thats nice too. Ship it.

NL5 blog #3 - Day 2 by Uptown, November 28

Day 2, PT3 says it was roughly 7 hours and 4k hands.

First "running real bad" day of my short poker career w00t! I almost feel like I'm part of the gang now hahaha .

----------------

A lot of people have suggested that I should really open up my preflop hand selection more, and after looking at yesterday and today's sessions, I can't agree more. As expected I have almost 'too' much respect at the table, and the lack of action is most likely inducing betting patters postflop that are either just bad decisions outright, or are chasing the profit too hard and making the villians fold rather than stay in. Towards the end of the session though for the last ~500 hands or so, I opened up a lot more from CO and BU, just going for blind steals really aggressively. It's a direction I'll follow tomorrow as well, since even though the overall results don't show it, I felt like the overall gameflow was much more positive. Anyways, I'll take you through today's events if you so care.

Session 1

Just a lil up and down, got hit by a few suck outs, got some good hands, etc. Ubernitty 7-8 table play at this point. I quit the session about $1.2 down to go have dinner. Nothing mucchhhh to say tbh (plus, I tend to not remember what happened by now haha!).

Session 2

During the second session, most things were teh same as session 1. A slow grind upwards, usually winning the small'ish pots but losing the big ones, story of my poker life yay! (I bet it relates directly to my nittiness). At the very end I caught two huge suckouts to put me about +$8, which prompted me to msg someone on aim saying "it's a sign I should quit now!!". And boy was I right! A short while later I had lost a bi or so and was basically breakeven for the day. Which is perfectly fine with me. Went downstairs for a few hours to take care of some paperwork I had to do.

Session 3

EPIC DOWNSWING TIME BABY!! I really feel like I played most of the hands well, with a handful of exceptions where I was clearly being too aggro betting each street hard to no avail. It's really a huge flaw of mine to win a bunch of small pots c-betting, then give up like 10x those pots in one epic fail attempt. However, the majority of the losses came through suckouts or just being beat, like having KK vs AA, and actually having TPTK/TPGK with AK/AQ on the flop, shoving, and the opponent having AA. Happened twice in an hour span which finally convinced me this is a sign to quit hahaha. The ratio of suck outs suffered to just being beat was roughly 1:1 iirc.

Wheeeeee!

I believe I am down 8bi's for the day yay~. But honestly I'm really not that disappointed, or frustrated. OK I lied there, of course it's frustrating to one degree or another. But I've seen from today that I need to loosen up more from LP, need to really be prudent about my postflop play and really talk myself over why I doing what I am, what I'm representing with the hand, etc. It's something that I can't do 7-8 tabling, and the last few hours of the day I was strictly 4-5 tabling and my brain's level of information crunching was much much better. So basically in the end I've learned the hard way (i suppose?) what you guys told me right off the bat: "reduce the table #s, and loosen up from late position". Righty-o!

It's encouraging for me, despite these losses, that I haven't gone on full tilt. I'll usually facepalm myself and let out a "argh", and that's that. I can live with being beat. I can live with being suckered. But I can't stand making shitty decisions. And today, I felt like I mostly made good decisions. I really can't help it when I push the flop with a set of 5's on a 235rainbow board and the villian shows A4o can I, or in the aforementioned case of having AK/AQ against AA on the flop. He very well may have had KK, who knows. Well maybe if I were a better player i could have known, but hey you get the jist. I guess these are what pple refer to as 'coolers' right? (sorry I'm pretty weak on the pokerz linguo here) I'm pretty okay with them, and I'm really being truthful here, not lying to myself or anything like that. It's part of the game, Overall I'm making good decisions, and I just have to work at becoming better. Well, not really sure where to work on or how to go about 'getting better' (such a vague phrase), but it's a process for sure.

An AF of 7.5 points to postflop spewing in situations where c-betting/doublebarreleing just isn't the right move. Shoving on marginal but strong hands is probably terrible too. And I need to be able to discern situations where I'm semibluffing the river or valuebetting the river. Overall, lotsa stuff to work on, and I think the two main things will be preflop loosening up from CO/BU, and tightening up postflop, as well as really focusing on the dynamics of the table/boardtexture by reducing my table count to a maximum of 5 at once. I also need to figure out the process of getting the most out of the nuts, since I probably kick the villian out of the hand too often. Hm.

I really should look through the huge loss hands and figure out whether they were just bad beats, or whether I fucked up. But right now it's 5:30am and it would be really quite depressing to do so, so hopefully I can make myself tomorrow when I wake up!

Better luck tomorrow I guess!

539k Hands this month, Almost to 600k!!!! by Joeingram1, November 28

Been a few days since I updated the blog but things have been going along well. Had a pretty good past couple days and up a few K.

http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr143/joeingram1/last2days.jpg

This was my session from the other night where I got ahead of pace and made a good amount along the way, i had to quit at the end though because I took 2 sick beats and lost like 350 and was sad because i was almost up 2k.

http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr143/joeingram1/gay.jpg

Decided to go back home to my parents house in the who live in the suburbs of Chicago so played like 16k session yesterday on my laptop and hated it, so small to look at lol. I love the setup at my apartment so so much more. But I did clear another 4k fpp bonus yesterday and am about 6k vpp away from getting my 3k milestone. Will hopefully clear a 1.5k fpp bonuses too before the end of the month so I can include it in the monthly profit.

I ended last night at 539k Total hands and was planning on waking up today early to get started again and play a marathon session so I can finish up tomorrow a day early. Im very excited for this month to be over so I can fix my game again and get back to the style I have been playing previously, rather then my tight style I have now adapted to playing. Has affected my win rate a ton and hopefully I can get it back up in the upcoming months. Going to go get to work and try to win this!!!!

Here is the graph, missing 6.5k hands, this was from 2 days ago so dont have yesterdays session in it.

Crazzy LHE Action at the borgata Atlantic City by ShimShady411, November 28

Whats good guys,

thanks to like the 4 people who welcomed me on LP on my first post.

So for some reason I am still playing 20/40 and 40/80 LHE at the borgata since I live in atlantic city. this weekend I realized how bad the limit games are in ac that i will go back to Live NLHE. Its just sick...

this past monday i ran a 20/40 session for 19 hours losing 600. Then i jumped in the 40/80 on monday, the game was short with 3 weak passive plyrs and i ran over the game picking up 3K. Of course the next day i run like shit. I mean shit!!! getting coolered all over the place.

I ran SO BAD that i really focking thought Ashton Kutcher was going to pop out and say you got PUNKED! anyways that session i lost 4k.

lost about another 1300 in the 20/40 game from wed to last night. didnt make it home for thanksgiving this year.

good thing is that i am finally getting internet for my new place and i can start my grind again at .50nl. tired of playing in the casinos.

Rather be masssing it online!!

does anyone actually grind up playing just limit holdem?? the variance is insane and i dont see many ppl in the casinos moving up. I swear there are people in the 20/40 that have been grinding for 20+ years. I dont want to be like them....
i need to find a way to improve and look for advancement oopportunities but i am new to all this and need serious direction! who wants to help!?

sigh by Sanai, November 28

Dropped like 10 BI's over the past 5 days.... now I've been grinding for a few hours and just breaking even.

I don't like to blame coolers or anything or rant, as I feel loss of self-control is a weakness... but damn... guess I'll try again tomorrow.

A little NL200 by k2o4, November 27

So I hit 4k yesterday and decided to start taking some NL200 shots, especially starting today and going through the weekend since we should be getting a huge influx of fish right now. I played about 200 hands this morning and lost 1 buyin while running super cold. Every flop I missed and Cbet I got raised or check-raised, and every flop I hit my Cbets were met with folds. I think I also sat into people having a huge heater vs me cause I kept getting 3bet and whenever I 3bet I got 4bet. At first I was thinking "WTF raises, 3bets, nonstop, is NL200 super fucking aggressive?". But my session later today showed that I was just running into hands.

My second session went better though I made some mistakes and got lucky. Could have been a devastating session but I sucked out JJ vs AA AIPF and hit a flush vs a set all-in on the flop in a 3bet pot. I ended up winning 2.5 buyins and recovering from the first session.

When I tried to move up to NL200 10 months ago I failed miserably. I was terrified and playing very scared. The money seemed like so much. And my heater was ending so all my spewy plays were causing me a lot of pain. I had no idea how to handle 3bets and suddenly people were 3 betting all the time, causing me to spaz out and spew. It was really bad.

This time went much better. I wasn't nervous at all. The money didn't seem like a lot. I felt very comfortable. The only problem I had was in 3bet pots - I didn't have the balls to be aggressive unless it was a perfect board for it, and I was also a bit too stationy. I need to review all my 3bet hands and figure out if I was just playing scared or if I was being smart. Other than that I felt great and can't wait to make NL200 my regular level. For the first time the money feels significant enough that I think "Yeah I could make a some good cash outta this". NL100 kinda has that feel, but you gotta grind a lot. NL200 is still a grind, but to the point where I can do it on the side and make about 1-2k a month which would be a nice supplement to my job.

I'm gonna go study now and if I feel good after studying I will play more poker. If the tables are good I'll do NL200, otherwise I'll keep on NL100.

Hopefully I'll soon be making a post about having a huge NL200 heater!

Day 2: the red line by TheView, November 27

ok before i post my earning for the day, I would like to say that I am very fortunate to end the day up. I did not play well at all and definately spewed a ton. I have found that one of the biggest leaks in my game right now is postflop play. I'm not very good at picking spots to take pots away postflop, so I'm going to have to work really hard to get better at that. I realized this coming into the day and to be honest, i probably got caught up in trying to win too many hands postflop. And I know in one hand I 3bet and called a shove w/ KK on a flop vs a very passive player who C/R me ( the board had tons of 2 pair/straight/possible sets on it ).
I should be up probably 2-3 more buy-ins for the day with as well as a ran.

On a positive note, I did play more today than I did yesterday. Although, I'd probably still like to play about 6 hrs per day while I'm learning the game.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/9100/update2ji5.jpg (link to my earnings)

PS: I'm not very computer saavy, so can someone tell me how to post a pic of my stats instead of the link?
Also, when I update tomorrow I think I'm gonna post some hands that I had trouble with/played incorrectly the past couple of days.

Thanks for reading. GL in life and poker
