NL50 FR owns my soul by John Galt, December 23

hello all
the last month of poker has really ownd me (and my bankroll)
i've been lurking on LP since i started poker about 6 months ago when someone owed me 30$ and shipped it to me on pokerstars
ill started 2 tabling NL10 6max and ran my roll up to 130$ on a sick heater before losing everything but my original 30$. Then I read up random poker guides and decided to try my hand at FR starting at NL2 i've slowly made my way up, multi tabling each level for loads of hands before confidently moving up.
I've won about 4k from like 200k hands of NL25 FR and below but over the last 60k hands i'm down almost 1k on NL50.....
i dont like to admit it, but i think i am starting to tilt quietly
i've reduced the number of tables and tried to think things through and i dont know if its my failure to raise or inability to play when villain raises, but ill post some hands that i feel are pretty representative of my recent tough spots

today i played 13/9/2.5, all comments are welcome im really questioning my basics. looking at my PT after a session i pretty much lose all pots, small medium and big :....

1) mattG30 is 14/6/2 over 100 hands:

+ Show Spoiler +

i didnt 3bet pre because i feel someone this tight passive only calls me oop with AA/KK and they are check folding missed AK which i get no value from
i know i have a problem with raising/3betting to 'protect my hand' like TPTK when i cant give them a worse hand that calls me

2) henke is 15/7/2.5 over also 100 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

any unknown tighter than like 35/5 pretty much never calls down with KJ right?
im folding to a raise on any street right?
how much am i check calling on the river?
what if he was full stack?

3) rolligoer is 19/8/1 over 75 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

he never gives action, folds his blinds every time to steals
betting 2 streets pretty standard? what if he raises turn?

4) villain is 42/0/1 over 40 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

i cbet small because the flop is so dry and i want him to call with random T
other than that i dont really know why i played it like that
i dont know if he's fit or fold post; 3 streets of value small against someone 42/0? 40% WtSD, 66% W$SD sample size too small to be meaningfull

5) mrab is 57/7/1.9 over 100 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

he check calls cbets like its his job, i have checked behind the turn and folded to river bets twice before this hand
he has check called 3 streets with second pair (owning me) bvb
i have never seen him call the turn like this
there are possible straights and flushes and pretty much ATC can make two pair
standard fold?

6)agfacolor 3 outed me twice today, dunno if its relevant, call cbet with TPNK both times
he's 24/5/5.4 over 500 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

lachlan says: bet/call or check/fold turn
is this a standard fold? what if he raises flop (AF=5.4)? what if he flats turn?

7) villain was 11/3 over 40 hands when this happened, but after 100 hands he's 23/11/3
+ Show Spoiler +

this is the only time i flatted AA today i swear
i flatted because he is so tight (i thought) and i think QQ/JJ would be more likely to give some action on a rag flop whereas he's folding these if i 3bet pre. i wont try to defend my line cuz i have no idea what i've been smoking.
raise fold flop? i was assigning him AK, JJ+? is there any reason to flat (vs AK?) fold to turn pot sized bet is standard?

8) 16/13/5.5 over 150 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

he never folds his blinds to steals, but i have AQs - i flat IP? should be profitable unless u play it like me
i need to make my decision on the flop right? this is pretty much as good as it gets for AQs - easy jam?
i've never personally seen it, but should i assume he is capable of 3betting light? he has an attempt to steal 50% so like i know he knows btns like to steal?

9) 34/19/1 over 100 hands
he's raised my bb every time its been folded to him, i've 3bet him once and he folded
+ Show Spoiler +

when i make a stand against his steals, my hand really doesnt matter right?
as played, bet turn and if he calls, give up?

10) 11/3/2 over 150 hands
+ Show Spoiler +

i was trying to maximize value vs worse ace
i only noticed his stats after i bet the turn. how good is my kicker? any ace an 11/3 calls with in the blinds is better than A9 right?
board is pretty dry - pot control the turn?
he check raised me pretty fast

for those who have made it this far, thanks
if anyone wants to talk poker on msn shoot me a pm
i've been playing really badly lately and really just want to sit down and know my standard lines
i really want to make this game a little more than just for fun atm, but nothing seems to be going right
thanks for the help guys

19/13/ Agg.Freq: 31 500 hands, UTG PFR:13 so i figured i can just call pf, now i think i should 3bet, 13 is not so low, i didn't want to call on flop cause there were 4 ppl, but also i wasscared that my raise can call AA/KK/QQ/JT and maybe KQ/AXs/AQ, i dont know if i played this hand correctly

+ Show Spoiler +

25/20/34 270 hands, 50bb, i dont know if i can call turn, there comes many draws but also 67 hits and 2 pairs/sets are scared of draws now

+ Show Spoiler +

org. raiser: 60/36/43 80 hands, caller: 29/9/25 300 hands, still cbet flop?

coolers:
top two vs set ( turn ai), flopped straight vs turn flush ( i had K for FD )

beats:
OESD from turn kills my TPGK, AK vs QT ai pf 40 bb,

LeggoPoker Trial by SfydjkLm, December 23

Whenever I open my email i see that name: LeggoPoker. They are pretty keen on sending me notifications about useless promotions and other equally irrelevant crap. I just never got to marking them as spam till this point, the annual cleaning of mailbox.

And I'm glad I didn't. Because the last E-Mail has informed me that they're having a Christmas time promotion(which is- i bet- is there to become a permanent thing), a 7 day free trial, no sign up fees, no cancellation fees(it actually doesnt say on the website, i had to email them to receive confirmation of that) and only 30 dollars a month reccuring.

Now that is exactly what made me subscribe with DC. I was planning on saving up for CR until i took a 7 day free trial- with no intention of staying. And it made me realize the value of Krantz, and FWF and BalugaWhale and the rest of them guys who delivered sick content at a fraction of a price of CR.

LeggoPoker used to use the CR pricing model- enormous sign up fees and paying in bulk. Thats why I never considered them as an option. But now when they adopted the modern pricing system(something for CR to think about- why leasing works so much better then financing, so to put it) they become affordable for even microstakes grinder. So for you, lil' fellas thats a quality option, get a move on it, 7 days of non stop poker goodness.

[?] Computer Security by SfydjkLm, December 23

Was just wondering what sort of programs you guys use, for antivirus, firewall and whatever else thats needed. Never really had any problems with viruses or whatnot just by being careful with what i download and where i go, but i guess having rolls online entitles to some more protection.

Wayne Money by PplusAD, December 23

made another 100bucks at Nl100

+1,3K last 11 days.

run bad at Fpps and toruneys though

Also watched a bit of schnibl0r playing 3/6 HU today

I am not sure if i feel sorry for this guy
he s like uber NeillyAA

he busted close to 1 Million $ 2 times !!! by playing the best of the world at the highest stakes

now he grinds Nl600 + runs bad there

I remeber the first time when he busted like 1 million to Patrick Antonious and Hoss
he was asked how it feels after he lost 600K in a week
Schnib : "Wayne Money "

wayne
in german, the word sounds like the pronoun "wen". often used to express a lack of interest.
"wayne interessierts?" (who cares?)

Yhea few month ago he lost 300K to Durrrr in a NL20K HU game.

Now he grinds NL600

Wayne money ?

Well i think caring about money is pretty important in Poker !
Sooner or Later some of these guys who dont/didnt care will realize it was a mistake.

As fazi once said in a blogpost : ( I dont remeber 100%)
He could be driving a ferrari if he just didnt spend so much money pointless or something ...

Newb fish blog. by Raguna, December 23

In all my time lurking on TL I never felt the urge to make a blog, but I did find motivation to do so here.

My motivation is twofold. First, I've become incredibly interested in poker, and I'd like to seriously get better for fun. Thus, I would like to become more involved in this crazy community, and a blog seems like a great place to make myself less intimidated about starting off here. Second and more importantly, I need a stupid blog to play the WBCOOP in the future.

On to the introductions, I'm a gigantic fish that currently plays nl25 on Full Tilt, and I've been lurking LP for about a month. I expect to be rolled to play nl50 by sometime in January, and my ultimate goal is to be good enough at the game to be a winning nl200+ player. I don't intend on making this a career, but I would give it serious consideration if at some point I was confident that I could make more doing this than whatever I would do otherwise.

In any case, it is a pleasure to meet anyone who has bothered to read this, and I look forward to finally having a place to post progress and rant about running bad.

Moving on up... :S by rossro, December 23

Welcome to the first post of my blog. Obviously I am new to liquid poker so I thought I would give a basic background about who I am and about my poker game. So here goes:

I have been playing NL 6max for about 2.5 years now off and on. I have built up several 4 digit rolls and subsequently withdrawn the money to pay for school (I'm in my 3rd year of Industrial Engineering) and other expenses so I have been playing 50/100nl for a while. I have played 250k+ hands at nl 6max at those. I cashed out my roll ~6k at the end of summer, to pay for my car/school since I dont play poker when I am in school (for obvious reasons). Anywayz Recently I have begun playing online again, and half built my roll up to a point where I can again start playing 100NL.

The basic point of this blog is to keep me focused and disicplined on poker. I will do my best to post updates as frequently as possible as well as the interesting hands that I need help on.

So ya, feel free to come and say hi, I would like to get know a few of you guys. As well any word of wisdom you would be willing to bestow would be much appreciated

Here is a few interesting hands today to get started, i have added basic reads to each of them and will save my opinions till after. Any comments are very helpful

Good times, bad times... by DustySwedeDude, December 23

Good times:

- Made 5k€ yesterday, my best result for a single day ever I think.
- I'm reading "The cat who walks through walls". It's as good as any book Heinlein has written. And I've read a few.
- 10€ SNG's with friends today. Might be fun.

Bad times:

- My grades suck.

Other stuff:

I'll probably join Liberala partiet, a very small Swedish libertarian party which, if I recall correctly, got 2 votes more then the party headed by this grand old lady in the last election.

10nl --> 50nl, fuck 25nl by TedHastings, December 23

So I'm pretty sure I'm just going to play 10nl until I'm rolled for 50nl ($1k or $1250 not sure yet). I understand how people play at 25nl and I'm not having trouble playing against them so to speak but I just think the 10nl crowd is much more exploitable. I'm confident I can maintain a 10ptbb/100 winrate at 10nl whereas at 25nl I'm not sure but I would not count on 4ptbb/100 which is what I would have to make to equal my expected 10nl rate monetarily. Also, I run so bad at 25nl that I think I'm completely mindfucked and pretty much insta-life tilt as soon as I sit down at a $25 table, which I know is terrible but what can you do. I have consistently beat 50nl in the past, so I'm not worried that I have ran into my poker ceiling, just for some reason Stars 25nl is cursed for me and I'm over it. Kinda strange I guess but I'm serious about the winrates so I really think it's more profitable for me to just do this. I don't know if anyone has any thoughts about this plan or any advice, I'll definitely listen but my mind is pretty made up so it would take a pretty compelling argument to change my mind.

Contacts by wilddamon, December 23

I finally got contact lenses as an early "Christmas present" from the government! (I have really thick glasses so the lenses are funded by the government through the disability (lol!) fund.)

So hopefully I'll be able to get used to them quickly so my eyes won't look tiny behind my glasses any more 8D

weird dream... by Svenman87, December 22

Just woke up from it
probably won't make sense but figured I'd write it down now for personal reference
consider this an image dump

for whatever reason I'm living at my work
I find out I have a 7 year old girl who is 'mine'...
Yet I don't remember being any older than I am IRL [21]
I overhear some close family talk behind my back and I decide to pretty much pack up and leave.

I meet the girl's mother who is like, uber fucked up and puts white powder makeup all over her face in some sort of cracked out geisha look-a-like affect. But once I see her I know that the girl isn't my child and before I demand a test she takes her for Christmas.

Then I wake up...
I think this might be a reoccurring dream, I got a vasectomy a few days ago and I think this is my brain trying to cope with the consequences of the action?

: idk I'll keep you updated

Or it could be random. Fucking dreams kinda mind fuck with me occasionally.

Meh random blog post about the month by Night2o1, December 22

Ahhh things haven't worked out so far.

After my crapped out nl25 shot, I've spent the last two days dicking around on badugi and PLO. I am going to spend tomorrow playing both again. Though it just doesn't seem like they are as interesting to me as NL-- I'll probably end up back to grinding NL after tomorrow unless my interest is ignited in these two games tomorrow.

Eh, I just got really discouraged after that shit at nl25 I guess. I'll be back on track after tomorrow, either refocusing on PLO/badugi, or restarting my grind at NL.

My month hasn't been very awesome, though I've spent a ton of time playing. The time I spent at nl10 full ring early in the month was basically a huge waste of time haha, I won $10 over 19k hands. I was mass table-failing. 6-max has been fine though. I'm running at 5BB/100 there.

Graphs so far:
NL10 6max
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/6eb740fc62b168d9ac010867b0c1bbd4.jpg

NL25 6max
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/fbe8ef3feae8e13ecce5d78a7ed4c886.jpg

I guess I can only pray to sustain 3+BB/100 at nl10 while I recover my roll (I've donked quite a bit off at badugi lol).

Maybe I'll grind this month out and have a reasonable graph to finish off my first calendar year of poker with..

Thanks for the help so far d00dz
<3

Oh I thought this graph was funny, its my nl10 FR since last month where I had that heater + this month of breakeven lol
This graph looks really... mean or something haha.

Ugh by bober1, December 22

Ok I normally don’t blog but I just feel like complaining and don’t want to make my friends listen to all my bad beat stories. For the past 2 years I’ve never had a downswing significantly bigger than 10 buy ins.

So I haven’t played in like a month really, and I had to cash out some money to pay off some school bills, so I decided to drop down a level and play some 200 nl just to get used to playing poker again, which is what I always do when I haven’t played for a while.

I then proceed to drop 17 or 18 buy ins over a few thousand hands… WTF. I’ve never ran so bad in my life, and because of it I haven’t made some lay downs that I should have, and have made several stupid bluffs for no reason, and am just not thinking totally clearly. I didn’t really think it was possible to lose so many buy ins playing remotely decently at 200nl, but maybe I’m not. Money wise it’s not the worst, but I feel so crappy losing so many buy ins. I’ve recovered a few of them but I can’t seem to really get anything going. meh

I also think my natural agression fits better to HU
However i might try some 6max in the near future again , since u dont get FPPs at HU NL100 >-<
