Nice end of year by PplusAD, December 29

Hi folks

December has really been ultra nice to me so far

http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/7793/december18daysxa1.jpg

I might play some Fpps and maybe 1 more cash session in december but thats for it

Overall the year 2008 pokerwise was a sick rollercoaster between heaven and hell.

I had my first real breakthrough in poker in July 2008 when i first made more than 1K within a month at NL50
( made 1,5K back then) next month i made like 800$ and the month after liek 2000$ and i was soo happy
but after that i got into a sick downswong and lost and lost and lost and dint move down and suddenly ~ -4K and was back at Nl10 buhuhuhu
but recently i recovered great

was the year >-<

Hope for a nice 2009 and i am positive i have improved a TON as a Pokerplayer last 6 month and can win pretty easy at Nl100 HU and 6max and maybe even win good at Nl200 HU

Starcraft is hard. by CrownRoyal, December 29

I have no idea what happened in the starcraft world in the past 1.5 years but jesus tapdancing christ starcraft is on a ridiculous level.

I used to be like top 20 in the usa on the ladders and stuff with little effort, B rank on pgt whatever i didnt game that much competitively i just gamed to talk shit and play ums but i was still good at the game relatively compared to the rest of the population of starcraft players.

I've recently gotten really interested in the game again watching every english casted game i can find in my spare time and eventually it just came down to me saying "Man i fucking love this game, i gotta put the time in to be good again"

Little did i fucking know how hard of a task this is to accomplish. I'm currently 32-35 C- on iccup. I rematch everyone i lose to or try to anyway, and i obviously am not dodging anyone cause this isnt me trying to make some run at the top of the ladder I just wanna get good so I prefer losing but fuck at least let me do it at a respectable level, having a <50% winning ratio at C- is stupid as fuck and embarassing.

I played 20 games today and for the first time in my life my wrist is killing me. I never used to have issues with wrist pain but I'm hoping it was just the angle i was sitting at and I don't have carpel tunnel syndrome.

everyone come play sc with me!

Teh brawl in teh brooklyn? by SfydjkLm, December 29

Me and my boy went to an enclosed park(children playground), that would be in Brooklyn. The park is located in a rather quiet jewish neighborhood, its extremely isolated tho, cemetery on one side, backyards on the other, a highway-ish type street on the other, and the last one goes into the street, with closest house several hundred meters away.

That was about 8 at night, well generally it is not the best idea to wonder into quiet places like that in Brooklyn when there are folk there, but im hardly scared of just about anyone, not a brag, please keep on reading. I am a judoka and my boy has extensive background in boxing, tae kwon do and judo.

We take my friends camera to film some shit just cos were bored. we spend about half an hour there with some guys in a proximity chilling with some girls. They start preparing to leave, and we leave too. Coincidentally. As we leave i feel em coming really close, i turn around and i see three guys coming from all sides, fence ahead. They do it without saying a word and i realize they arent some punks, theyre pros. I tell my friend to leap the fence fast, i dont think he catches on. Its about 6 foot fence i leap it in 2 seconds tops, im in great shape, so is my friend, i turn around to see if hes here. To my suprise I see that the guy that was right behind me is even closer, now on this side of the fence. Thats when i realize were in deep shit. My friend did indeed not catch on and now this guy is between us, and the other guys not that far behind either.

My friend is a bit to the side, in the clear of the guy. I make a quick call and tell him to get the fuck out and i start sprinting. He doesnt catch on. I sprint about 12 meters, dont hear any footsteps, turn around and see my friend on the ground. I was acting extremely fast and spot on before this now im fucking lost.

I dont know what to do. My friend is on the ground and i dont fucking know what to do. Its a lose lose situation at this point, i have my friends camera, and if i get into a fight its much deneros fucked one way or another(i did not think of taking it off and putting on the ground at this point). Can i come back and beat them up with perhaps somewhat dazed buddy? If they have a knife were dead, because the place is so isolated if we dont get out on our own noone is calling the police until morning at best.

Now that all takes perhaps 3-4 second. Then i hear bottle crack on my friends head, i see the dudes looking at me now and now i know i have to get the fuck out and call the police. I start running there is a problem tho, i ran the wrong way. There is another fence there, twice as tall. 12 feet or so. I see a stairs nearby leading to some obscure building, railing of the stairs at the same level as the fence. I ran up there however there is a problem. There is about a meter or so between the railing and the fence. Now meter isnt much but im no parkour guy, and i hesitate for a second. Then i jump. I make it, but i cut my hands to shit somewhere.

I open my phone to call 911 and see that it says "Insert SIM." Fuck you Motorola for making this piece of shit RAZR phone. I run to a house and start ringing the bell furiously while restarting my phone. I call the police and just 4 minutes later i receive a call from my friend who now is somehow 2 blocks away from the park.

We went to a hospital. He needed no stitches however there is a slight bruising of the brain. His speech was slightly slurred at first but hes seeming to recover quickly. They left him in the hospital for 24 hour observation.

Some key notes.

Dont go into desolate places no matter how much of a cock you are.

Those guys were pros, had a plan, did just enough to take my friend out. You expect most punks to hit a downed opponent a few, they got him down, cracked him witha bottle went after me.

Police was extremely slow.

911 operator was bloody stupid. "I dont know the fucking name of the street" and "its one block of Ocean parkway(major Brooklyn arter) that way" should suffice.

Police seemed bloody stupid as well there were 4 guys and each of them asked me the same exact questions despite all standing next to each other. Right one after another.

I was extremely torn whether I shouldve called the police or go help my boy. I expected the police to be savvier and react faster. From now on i will have to make marginal situational calls based on perceived intentions. If the attackers are out for blood, you cant wait for police, your buddy will be permanently disabled by the time they come.

Train sports. I doubt i couldve escaped if i didnt.

Thoughts? Comments? I definitely dont feel happy about today.

i have to stick to 4 tables ( insted of sometimes 6 when there are good tables) till i get used to this stakes, cause i think i tilt sometimes cause of the amounts of $ flying around and shut my brain down because of that

1) + Show Spoiler +

49/10/32 80 hands, maybe i should raise turn?

2) + Show Spoiler +

12/9/36 120 handsm this river shove is so stupid, he clearly has a Q after turn call

3) + Show Spoiler +

21/16/28 300 hands 3bet: 6 ( not sure how high it was when we played this hand) i'm guessing not a great flop to make a play, after he shoved i thought i'm commited and he still may have a draw

4) + Show Spoiler +

18/12/28 160, this shove looked like a draw to me at a time and i also thought that if he'd have a strong hand he'll bet it cause the flop is too drawy and i can check behind if i didn't hit cause it's 3way

5) + Show Spoiler +

25/17/35 600 hands, fold to 3bet: 61%, turn was a good card to 2nd barrel right?

6) + Show Spoiler +

25/21/44 320 hands 3bet 7.9, cbet: 61

7) + Show Spoiler +

23/16/31 130 hands, river c/c cause lot of draws missed

8) + Show Spoiler +

51/33/37 170 hands, i can't shove over this small turn raise right?

coolers:

2x set vs set, two pair vs two pair, TP on flop after 4bet vs set of 4s lol, nutFD vs TPTK,

moving up by Zalfor, December 29

i started today with $250 after starting the day before with $420. well, as it turned out, i got really lucky today and went on a super heater after losing twice with AA against 55 and 99 (preflop).

i really felt like just quitting there, but i kept my poker face on and grinded back nl10 for 30bb/100 for over 5 hours and over 3k hands. I ran really well, and got 3rd in a 4.4 tourney with my last hand being AA vs J2 ...

anyways, i think i'll be moving up after i get another $150 or so from nl10, and i hope to do well in nl25, even though its extremely hard right now.

Beating variance lol by edzwoo, December 28

Switched gears to lawl 6max style because everyone was extremely weak tight today. Lol at my redline.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/b8e55378a21dac3e3f93fc301446b648.jpg

NL100 graphs so far:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/522076558e70b532a3b65c4f531be296.jpg

NL100 isn't any harder than NL50 imo. Some of the tight regs are willing to throw in their stack as a bluff, but their frequency is terrible and they do it in the worst spots.

Brag hand of the day, villain is 10/6 with a reasonable 3bet:

Failure (?) by R_I, December 28

I started online poker this year, with $15 from my coach Silver. I played 6 max and HU sngs on stars and ran my 15 up to $600 (including 100 from a propbet win). I work fulltime with pretty good pay so poker has been like a hobby.

I moved to full tilt in september because of rakeback and promptly ran into a big downswing which continues. I'm down to $200 from $600 and I'm taking a break till the new year starts.

I'll take my $200 and hopefully make something of it at the Full Tilt HU sngs next year. My goal is to become a winner at the 20s and grind out some extra money each month. The US dollar is strong vs the New Zealand dollar atm so that's extra motivation.

Please keep checking out the funky HU hands that I post and do reply if you disagree with my thought process comments or have something to add.

GL at the tables in the new year.

dec- better than joe (again) by nolan, December 28

last time i posted this i got cursed but i think the curse only works for the fiscal year so i'm nearly positive i can't possibly curse myself here.

as per usual, i did much better than joe this month.

as you can see, i made much more $ than him in NLHE.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/fabafe06ab713aa4667ac708635b00a4.jpg

I didn't put as much volume in as normal, because I spent a week playing live at foxwoods. I played a ton of 20/40 and 30/60 limits because the games ran shorthanded and seemed much better than the 5/10 NL. I realized that limit is probably the best live game. You can play many more hands/hour in general (not saying you get dealt more hands, but rather its appropraite to play more hands in this game dynamic than it would be in NL). Assuming my preceived massive edge, any game that allows me to play higher VPIP is probably best, so I think I'm going to stick to limit sessions whenever I play live. FW went pretty well, I made a decent chunk of big bets, but nothing crazy.

I didn't play as much PLO as I have in other months, but the times I did I was super focused and played close to my best PLO game (which is probably a good players D game, but I digress). I've been watching a lot of videos, and although I find little things I disagree with in every one I watch, I certainly am learning a lot. In a recent lefty vid he said there shouldn't be more than a ~5% disparity between VPIP and PFR at PLO, but he was talking about 5/10 games at the time I believe. At 2/4 there's pretty rampant limping and I limp behind a lot, so I'm hoping that's the reason for my semi big gap.

I'm a little leary of posting stats, but I dont have pokergrapher or whatever I don't think so here's my humble small sample size of PLO for dec.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/ed4937229a3c41d97af4be552080f7a7.jpg

I was a very marginal winner before this month, breaking even more or less over my first 50k PLO hands, so hopefully this will help me keep the ball rolling into 2009.

It's worth noting I'll always be better than Joe at PLO because he is a sick nit and could never handle the variance.

Anyways, I leave for PCA basically right after New Years, and it should be a nice vacation. I haven't qual'd yet for the event but I luckboxed like 3 sattelite tickets so I got two sat's to play today and an extra $650 W$ to figure out what to do with. If I don't qual before going I've heard the live qualifiers are soft so I'll prob set aside 3k for a shot in those, regardless I'm pretty confident I'll get into the event one way or another. I'm more focused on sitting on the beach doing nothing, as I haven't taken a day off from poker basically at all since last summer.

Anyways, hopefully I'll run into some of you at PCA. Take care.

Hello
December as been....amazing... i wish every months will be like that!
I was at 16k at the beginning of the month...
Im up 25,000!!!!!!!!
Playing nl400-600 HU
Its my first month playings theses limits so i wish the next months will be like that
I still have alot of leaks to fix and working on it
I have problems with pokertracker and luckyacepoker....
I get errors while importing hands into PT.. i fixed it with the PT'S FAQ but i still got somes
errors once in a while... its pretty wierd... so i cant realy use PT because its not accurate at all

About 2008, well...
I started early september with 1500 from fayth
I gave him 3k back, cashed out somes
Never used rakeback(only cash out)
Im probably up around 50k this year
Life is good

Ill continue to go to school anyway...still hvae 2 years and an half left t.t

Im already looking to get a new car this summer
Im not sur yet what car ill get but at the moment i want this car

http://www.autospies.com/images/users...mag/V6N2/CES%20Las%20Vegas/Sync02.jpg

So i wish to get to 100k for june...i think i can make it
So i will have to cash out half of my BR for this car....it will hurt.... but i still have to think about it
Anyway i dont really want to play higher limit...
Ill probably go nl 1k when i hit 60k but i wont go higher so i think it doesnt mather if i cash out half of my BR for this car

So 2008(well september to december) has been good
I wish 2009 will good too

December wrap-up by Joe, December 28

December is almost over and it is definately over poker-wise for me, because tommorow I am going to the mountains to snowboard a bit and celebrate the new year.

It was a swingy month for me. I started pretty bad and about halfway through the month I was down about -$15,000. Then I scored 3rd place in a live donkament (1,000 eur side event at EPT Prague) and won about $19,000 + another about $1,000 in live cash games, which put me slightly up for the month total.

Then I came back home and things slowly started to go my way in online cash games too. Before the Christmass holidays I managed to get my online cash games score to about -$5,000 and I didnt play very much.

Then Christmass holidays began and I started to play more and table select a lot across multiple sites, because games were softer and I wanted the most of it. I did quite a good job in table selecting and also played solid, which together with an ok run netted me about +$11,000 in the last 5 days. That put my online cash games score to +$5,826 total for the month. Not great overall, but good considering the downswing in the first part of the month.

Also, I won a PCA/EPT Step 5, which means +$1,400 in value. I would like to try and play PCA Step 6, but it is filling up pretty slowly and since I only have a few hours left, I might miss it.

So overall, I ended the month up with a solid score: +$26,302.

Thats it for now, gotta go to a party. Will try to find some time later to write a small summary of the year and some goals for the next year.
