Hey guys just thought id show my progress so far this month. I think im doing ok so far for NL 10 ive ran into a few coolers here and there but for the most part its clear sailing at this stake. My goal by the end of the month is be in nl25. Ive also been dabbling in the odd donkament I think as a microstakes grinder if I was to land a final table it would help my Bankroll insanely. Anyway give me your guys opinions and let me know what you guys think of donkaments any general tips/videos. thanks.
edit: Also Im definately planning to invest in A Training video site and as of late ive been hearing lots of contraversy towards CR videos. Any advice or thought as to wich site you guys see as the best bang for the buck and seems to continue to produce good quality videos.
My stats for today look like where I want them to be. 14/11/4.5 with a St% of 30. I think the AF can be a tad lower, and indicates my spew postflop in forms of betting out on bad boards / stations w/o a hand, as well as not being able to muck marginal hands.
My stealing seems acceptable, and my flop play has improved (at least I think...). I've retightened my EP range to where I'm pretty comfortable with the numbers.
However, I still have these momentary lapses in judgement, calling down or getting it in with marginal if not shitty hands when the villains are telling me they have me beat. I seem to want to convince myself that they are bluffing at me since I am a nit, but come on, the vast majority of the time they do have me beat.
edit: actually I'd like the stats to be a bit looser from LP when I move back to NL10, but there's so many stations at NL5 that I have no choice but to be a nit.
NL10 shot. a wild neilly appeared.by Ftrunkz, January 15
Took my NL10 shot today with 15BI's planning to drop back down if i lost 3. Started off pretty bad with a few hands i got a bit stuck with as well as losing a few flips and almost had to drop down... then out of no where ran like neilly, against neilly! :D. had a hand where i made a FH with 33 on a 377 bored and he bet out all streets and folded river with only about 30% of his stack behind. Then set over setted him a few hands later... I'm sorry Neilly. =[
live 1/2 that is. seriously they suck. i lost two big hands (AJ v KK on AJx flop, i raise from the button and old lady 3 bets me to 25, i call, i do near PSB, she calls and binks a K...then i misplayed this hand after i checked the turn, asking myself what i beat now but i suck at poker and shove over her half pot river bet) and then losing a flip vs 10s. but in the end i still won +339, which is sick.
then i lost $20 in roullete/slots
one of my favorite hands of the day was me having QJ in the BB with like 3 limpers. i check. flop 44Q. check check check check. turn Q. i bet like 4 into an 8 dollar pot, SB calls. river A, he open shoves for like $90 more and i'm like lolwut. snap call and he tables AK like it's the nuts, fucking idiot.
online poker is alright, i've been losing a few dollars here and there in SNGS but i'm still crushing NL10 for 10BB/100 over 17.7k hands.
I've for a long time been visiting lp.net but never really made any noice. Some of you ppl might know me or maybe atleast seen me around earlyer if you still are connected to SC:BW. Im from sweden, and i started playing SC:BW like many others in like 98-99 and fell inlove very fast. I've played under the nickname "RataN" (played in clans like, iG/uT/puLs/NaW-/ if that is familiar for some of you?) for the last like 4-5 years maybe and been a part of the swedish nationalteam for a couple of years now aswell =D. Though i havent played much for like 6 months now. :/ Atleast nothing serious, only some 1v3, 1v4 vs my roommates who also loves sc:bw. Though they kinda sux
Other then sc:bw im obviously aswell into poker. Ive been playing back and forth and been busting my roll, hm, i dont really wanna count how many times ive busted it on stupidity.
I started off like 2 years ago playing some microstakes like every1 else. But after a while i started gambling..
One day I remember i turned 90$ to 1300$ just moving up as fast as i doubled up.. I ended up playing 6max 5/10$ at partypoker and i remember busting out with QT vs AQ on a QQ2 board in a big pot...
Ah good times.. (not) At that time I was pretty bad aswell.. but mostly crazy.. I really snap asfast as i play higher stakes, I somehow in a strange way lose the fear of losing the money, instead I see the chanse of winning a huge amount. But as fast as i stop play, I kinda undersood what the fuck I was doing and my knees started to shake and i almost fainted i remember..
After that ive tried "grinding" out pretty much both low stake sng's and HU sng's + cashgames both hu/6max/fullring. But ive always ended up playing HU 3/6$ for my whole roll like a retard as fast as I reached a decent bankroll.... (idiot? yes)
I've kinda have/had no diciplin... I read alot about players grinding out from 0.01/0.02 for months of months of playing and i really envy you guys. I've tryed alot to be one of those guys who has that diciplin to play for so small amount of money hour after hour.
Though, ive gotten a little better and i really want to make it in poker. Cause i love this game.
But i think I kind of started at the wrong end of my poker "career". Ive started off feeling the thrill of winning a pot of 2000$ when i was 18 years old and made like 200$ / month. And kinda got addicted to that thrill because it happened again, and again, and again.
But ive never had good bankroll management. For example once i won 3100$ in a 100$ MTT and played maybe around 8000 hands of 1/2$ and made a roll of about 5000$ and a couple of days later lost it all at the 3/6 and 5/10 HU tables...
I never think ive really grinded a level, in a smart, and kind of "risk free" way. Never.
Ive never used programs like pokertracker och holdemmanager before either and I've always in a way "been on my own" playing alot about my gut feelings and maybe in a little "own" way, if I can put it like that... I've never until the last couple of months been using sites like cardrunners or really getting into these types of "regular grinder" forums or sites. Ive read a couple of books, started of reading Barry Greensteins Ace on the River like 1.5 years ago, and ive also looked through Super System aswell and from that I pretty much built my own picture of how I should play. And I have been winning lots of lots but before when i had like 1 bad session i just went CRAZY on tilt. Or not on tilt, but i just got tired of not winning more then like 2$ after 4 hours of play on microstakes tables when i could win 1000's of $ in the higher stakes.. Im a young, stupid man... And the harsh truth is that ive prolly just wasted like 10 000$ maybe, just because of PURE lack of bankroll management and grinding diciplin. Just went off gambling, flipping with JJ vs AK with my whole bankroll :S
Im prolly a losing player, if we look at my statistics. Im probably - like 2-3000$. Cuz sometimes when ive lost those pots ive deposited alot of my money coming from my work. Remember 1 time when i busted like 2000$ (MY WHOLE month of payment) in like 4 hands of sick coolers..
But there has also been times when ive deposited when ive had a break for a while about 400$ and quitted the night with over 2000$ of profits wich ive used to my a car, and a whole new computer for example. Though overall i think im back alot of money... Its scary for some1 who should be playing NL10.. Very scary.
But this my friend. Is my turning point.
After i lost my whole roll the last time ive kinda took a break for about 5 months now but now im back. And i really whant to give this a fair shot.
Though ive used holdemmanager now for a while and it really has helped me alot of cooling down. All the statistics makes it more easy for me to look at it as a long run profit and i really hope i can make it this time. Also ive been studiyng alot, really making myself mentally prepered for this shot of playing again. Ive prolly watched like every video on cardrunners, read alot of articles. Watch alot of my friend who is a 3/6$ regular on partypoker playing, discussing with him and so on a ton of poker. And now I hope im ready. And it has gone pretty good this far and I feel like I really have thought this through
So. For disciplin. Ive set a goal of playing a minimum of 60 000 hands of NL10 (0.05/0.1) with a starting roll of 500$. Even if i have a roll for 20NL before ive reached those 60k hands (20NL as the stakes are at iPoker network instead of 25NL) I wanna make this goal. Only for training. Just grinding grinding grinding, I play mostly 6 max, but I mix it up with some Heads up aswell now when my roll has grown to about 75 buy ins. (760$ roll) And it has gone pretty well
Im up about 25 buy ins now over 11 000 hands played over about 1 week and it feels really REALLY good. :D
I feel like I can do this, I wish I started off at this end of the road for about 2 years ago, starting to grind out micro stakes.. But what do you do? I've learned alot and I try to look at the positiv side of it. I think Im fit for the microstakes, I think I can beat it the old fashion way and im excited to do so. Ive been mentally prepering for this for almost half a year and it feels really good that it starts off so well.
Today i played 4 tables of HU, for about 1000 hands and it ended up pretty ok i think.
So i hope that maybe joining a wonderful community like this, and kinda keeping updates (mostly for myself kinda like a diary) will help me to keep focus. And not loose reality and just go crazy in high stakes. That I have tryed already, and it was not a very good option if I want this to work longterm.
I've worked hard for all of the money that I've lost to bad bankrollmanagement, working fulltime since I graduated from high school. But now I will make poker to something else then a way of gambling 60/40 flips of money i dont afford to lose. I want to play poker, longterm, because I love the game. And I love the thinking and constant guessing and improvement of this game. It's soooo big and so much to conquer. And I really want to be a part of it. I hope I can make this work.
Even if I have to play microstakes for all eternety :D Also i play on the iPoker network on the site, Victor Chandler. Maybe ill move to stars or FTP later but for now they have a nice bonussystem for me and they've always been loyal to me cuz ive played there pretty much over the last 2 years.
Btw, if someone even had the time or will to read my first blogpost I maybe can say something about myself as a person now at the end of this very long blog.
My name is Filip Bryndahl, im 20 years old and i live in Umeå Sweden with 4 friends in a big appartment. (party 24/7 obv) I love music and i went studying music the last 3 years of "high school" or w/e at a music acadamy. I also play american fotball (rofl yes its true :D we have a team in our town in sweden, we really sux but i think its really fun playing real matches and stuff, we have a small league here in sweden, obvious its not really that big of a sport here but ^^). I play linebacker/cornerback, defense -.- though ive kinda slacked off the last time.. but i still try to train with the team as much as possible.
And ye, also I live under the stairs, ROFL, (cuz I was the last one to move in, there is only 4 rooms) where i have my comp + 22" widescreen hd screen. Ive kinda made it coasy in here. Lying mostly in my bed, watching movies/series. Ive but up kind of "blankets" or what I should call it, so its kind of a small room. Thats pretty much the reason why I've quit playing BW. Because its pretty hard playing good laying down with the keyboard on your stommach =) But 60$ rent / month in the middle of the city I can live at any fucking place :D
Im sorry for my bad english also, but I havent been using it much lately. Would be fun if anyone actually read this post, I dont excpect it but it would be kinda cool feel free to post some kind of comment if you survived this far of my boring pokerstory!
Ill try to keep my upcoming updates a little bit smaller
Peace and gl!

P.S I also love Southpark, its the best thing ever made, ever.
I've been struggling to beat NL200 for a long time now. I'm too lazy to watch any training videos and I don't gain much from reading advices in the hands section. I'm a person who gets bored pretty quickly playing ABC poker, so usually I play my A-game for 2-3 weeks, win some cash and then, all of a sudden, I start feeling extremely unmotivated, which leads to slacking off and playing bad for a period of 1-3 months.
But it's time for a fucking change. I really feel I need to improve my poker skills to find the joy of game again and finally grind my BR up to a decent amount. I've done some coaching with Gawdawaful in April or May last year and back then it was a groundbreaking move for me. I started constantly winning at NL100 and even had a great month at NL200. It all vanished afterwards, starting in June.
So I'm looking for someone to coach me at NL100/NL200 6-max games on Stars. Donno for how long, but I'd prefer a long-term deal. I'm willing to pay up to $200/h. If you're interested, please PM me. Any recommendations from players that have been coached are greatly appreciated.
I have thought it over many times in the last couple of weeks and I'm certain about my decision.
i'm break even through a tournament and about 600 hands of poker where a guy was literally shoving every hand. I say that it's bad luck and fml b/c i should be up when someone shoves every hand, and causes other fish to get pissed off, and they shove every hand when original shover leaves, but noooo. What do you do when you have someone like this? wait until you have a either Ax or pocket pair, (unless there is a caller between the two of you). I did this and every time i call their shove, i am ahead, but i lose. Granted, i did win about in the flips, but i was only up a dollar. the average pot size on these tables (.02/.04) was between $5-$12. *sigh*...its like he's throwing money out of a helicopter and i don't have any hands...so i just break even.
then the very next day i get into a 7.5k grnt 5+.50 r&a, and i get the table where atleast one of four ppl were shoving every hand and rebuying... so i wait until i get TT, call the shove, and we're heads up, he shows up with A5o, hits ace on riv, obv. so i rebuy and add on, for $10, so now i've invested $15 into this flipament, which obvvvvvv i am soooo favored to ft this thing... so i wait and wait and i get jacks ftw!!! wrong. ftl. b/c i get shown up by aces who hits his set on flop fml.
i cleared bonus in all this bs and broke even. time wasted.

Dear Russell,
President-elect Obama has asked the American people for input. He wants us to tell him what we would like to see him do over the next four years. To facilitate this, his transition team has set up an area on their website for input.
Tell President-elect Obama that you want your right to play online poker in a safe and legal environment respected and protected, please follow the simple instructions below.
Together, we can all let Obama know that we demand our rights!
So i played my first session of NL25.
I am pretty happy with the way i played and the skill level really isnt that different.
The return on hours invested is much better.
Felt that i was bleeding money a little bit but i was a bit rough when they kept playing back when i did not make a hand.
I am going to stop to post every winner because i feel they are pretty basic, only the hands where i need discussion on i will post. Feel free to look them up however.
Only hand where i think i maybe could have played it differently. However the guy was playing like a maniac. However on the turn it felt pretty spewy when i made this move.
Not sure but i think i have to follow his stats there.
Or should i wait for a better spot (sample size only 50 hands)
I tried some HU the past two days. I guess I will stay away from that in the future. I dont think I played very bad but I am much better at 6-max so why not stick to my best game. In HU, I think my biggest leak is that I call to often oop. Today I also VB too thin because my opponent had a hard time VB himself and instead just C/C my VB on the river (but he also called down light so didnt want to give too much value away). I also ran pretty bad. He hit a ton of rivers that were just pure luck and when I had big hands I didnt get value from them.
Pre-flop the game was very aggressive and there was a ton of 3bets and 4bets. Therefor I guess I ran pretty bad there too when we came AI pre and I lost with AK vs AJ, setups like KK vs AK and I lost a few coinflips. After 2h I was down 6BI (on NL200) and threw in the towel. If I try HU again I will go down to like NL100 and only play as entertainment.
I quick update since last time. I was at the casino once more a week ago. I didnt play that great but the table was full of fish so I ended up a fair bit.
On the internet I havnt run that well. I think I have played decent (not great) but I have been outdrawed in some big pots and lost a couple of hands I shouldnt have. Around the table I always see like 4-5 really fishy players but I cant get there money! So on 6-max I am down like 5BI or so. Guess I will lick my wounds, go down to NL200 and just play some straightforward poker until I am mentally prepard to get back to NL400...
First i thought i would never do this, however i have problems with focussing myself on the lowest limits. This is why i sometimes just am making stupid plays because i dont care. That is why i am moving up to NL 25.
I also did prove myself i can easily beat this limit and that also was my intention. I had a lot of suckouts else i would have been up like $100 more i think.
The past few days i did not play a lot due to the flu.
Roll Buildaments Updateby killThemDonks, January 14
(Read previous entry)
So far its been going okay. I decided change the plan a bit and play NL10 till i hit 300 http://homepage.ntlworld.com/elrond/sparta.gif since my NL25 variance was too much for my small BR.
took a small shot at nl25 today...and I must say....it tilted the SHIT outta me.
Slow pace atm but still hoping to be back at NL50 by the end of the month. For now I have to do some rebuilding at NL10 after my failed shot at nL25 today
