50k guaranteed by longple, January 23

Played a 50k guarantee today, 2000 players entered.

Went out in around 400th place, top300 in the money..

And ye, btw, I went out on runner runner flushes when flopped trips and TOPSET the 2 last hands i played (right after one and another)..

First hand BB defended with A4o from my BTN raise with KJ, flops obv comes JJA, and he goes runner runner clubs in a ~70BB pot.

So im down to like 12BB, and with 2 limpers before me I push QQ all in in CO. Gets called by both limpers, 1 of them covers me.
They have 44 and A9o from the bigstack (rofl????)

Flop comes Q5T, and some nice runner runner diamonds seals the deal for A9o wich picks up a nice ~30BB pot.

So ill prolly curse poker forever. Won the first pot woulda made me 4th in chips btw. This tour coulda been a nice boost for my BR, but its never easy right?

cu gn gg..

/RataN :'(

Moving Up. by Zalfor, January 23

So at the peak is when my BR was at $600, and I was finally rolled for nl25. The huge drop afterwards is when i played nl25, lost -> nl50 HU lost, regrinded back up a bit in nl10, and now i'm at the end of the graph.

However, even tohught the graph looks weird, I have had a lot of success in HU SnGs, and thus my BR is at 330 now, even though it looks a lot less in the graph.

Running pretty well right now, and I am going to grind nl10 for a bit until i get rolled for nl25. I finally feel like i can beat nl25 now, and I'm going to keep chugging.

wish me luck!

Standard? by Motiva, January 23

Is poker so consistently black or white for everyone? What I mean is that each segment of 1000 to 5000 hand samples of mine are always either an upswing or a downswing? Maybe my game has enough leaks to where breakeven points are also downswings? Always seems so black or white for me.

Is this standard or did I change something I'm not aware of? (First 3200 hands are the first two days, and the rest is today)

A little NL by EXCELED, January 23

Ive been switching it up a little bit lately getting away from LHE. Ive been playing 6 max NLE and a bit of PLO the last 2 days and I gotta say Im really enjoying myself. Ive been playing .01/.02 - .02/.05 games and there just retartedly easy lol. Great for rebuilding your roll.

Im probably going to make this a perminant change. Being able to play NLHE well is just way better for so many reasons and I dont know why I havent been playing it all this time. I would be a hell of a player if I stick with NLHE instead of going the LHE way. PLO is a great game too but its really tough. There is just so many hands a person can have its really hard to nail down there range. But like any game Im sure it just takes a lot of practice.

If Im going to be focusing my time now to NLHE Im going to need your help guys. Im going to be posting hands all the time now in my blog and your thoughts and advice will be much appreciated. I havent really had any tough spots the last two days but when I run into them I will be sure to post the hands. Heres my results so far:

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/nl.jpg

Pretty small sample but Im doing something right. NLHE is 10x tighter then LHE so the trick for me is to have a bit more patients. I can get away with making pretty lose position raises in LHE but its a little more trickier in NLHE especially at the lower limits when guys are just so retarted. Hopefully I can get to NL10 by monday.

Here is a few hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=615320
Maybe a loose call from the BB but I like suited aces with deep stacks. I got a beautiful flop and re raised the guy but when he came overtop of me I figured he had a bigger A. I think for sure a shove here is a legit play too. Turn is golden and so is the result of the hand.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=615323
This one sucked dick. This guy hit his miracle on the river when I was trying to slow play him. Im not really mad at how I played it but I guess I could have put in a bit of a raise on the turn. If I did raise the turn though I dont think I would be getting paid off by anything though. Sucks that he gets lucky. Thats poker though.

No other real big hands to show. It seems Im losing the most money with big Aces that miss. Going to look over some hands and see if theres anywhere I can improve. I think that a big part of my game that I need to work on is 3 betting pre. There are obvious hands that are easy 3 bets but theres some hands Im not sure if I should flat call or re pop. For instance say the guy to my right raises and I have AQs AJs 99 or 1010. Is it better to flat call with these hands and see a flop or is 3 betting a better play since I have position? Situations like that give me a bit of trouble.

This weekend should be an alright one. My buddy is coming down tonight and were going out lookin for some nice mit. Not sure where we are going yet but theres tons of options in this city. Im heading home Saturday because I have a hockey game and I have some things I need to get back home too. Saturday night Im coming back to my place with a bunch of guys from my hockey team and going out again. This should be an interesting night lol. HAvent been out with the guys on my team for a while but its always a shit show when we go out so Im pretty excited. Sunday.... study time ugh.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Epic nightmare by edzwoo, January 23

So I was browsing the LP threads on my phone because my dorm internet connection was cutoff due to some network virus. I was reading Night2o1's thread where Myth was offering to make leakfinder videos for Cardrunners members. Given a bit of time, I don't think this is a deal I could pass up, so I pm'd Myth about the details and such.

It was late so I went to sleep soon after he replied, and this is where my nightmare started. I woke up in my dorm (I wasn't actually awake) as normal, I went on LP and saw a PM from [vital]Myth with his little red juggernaut icon. It said something about needing my Stars ID and password. So in my dream, I recalled that I had given him my info the day before (didn't actually happen) and I was wondering why he pm'd me for it a second time.

Then I looked closely and I saw that the name wasn't actually [vitaL]Myth, but [vitaI]Myth; the L in vital was actually an I.

Naturally I freaked out and insta-logged into my Stars account, and my entire roll was gone, and even my FPP was gone (LOL?). Then a little popup message came up from Stars and said "You were hacked! We can compensate either your bankroll or FPP" and there were three buttons. One said Cash, another said FPP, and another said Cancel.

For some weird reason I missclicked and hit Cancel and a popup said LOL! Then I woke up.

So yeah, I don't think I should be browsing LP at night before I sleep.

Couple of fun hands by DustySwedeDude, January 23

So I decided to just post some fun hands from the last week or so. Poker has been very up and down but I'm running like God in omaha, which is always fun. I'm up maybe 12kish € or so including rakeback and such. Not great, but I'm happy with that. Not gonna post suckouts and such except if I do them. Need to think positive. Not posting when people snaplolcalls my rivershoves in rr'd pots with QQ despite turn and river coming K and A. Mostly because I felt to dumb and don't want to relive it.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/614795 - Flopping top set 3 way in a rr'd pot while taking a shit = biggest profit I've made in a single hand so far.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/614516 - Want more comments on. I think it fits in really well in my game since I've started calling 3bets oop again.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/614061 - 800bb pot in omaha vs some dude who was chatting away accusing another dude of being a stupid luckbox spewtard.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/611203 - Nice suckout, Q7s ftw.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/610773 - Some dude's trying to run me over, have been c/minrr light a couple of times, what cards should I do this with?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/610765 - Small pot, really like my line.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/610359 - FAIL

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/610356 - Dunndunndunn, Dunndunndunn, SLOWPLAY!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/610341 - I <3 TP.

HU Sit n Gos by NeillyJQ, January 23

A week after that ridiculous monkey swing I made, I've recovered my loses and then some, even dropped to NL5 for a while when I was at my lowest point

I took a couple days off cuz we got a wii at my house, and have been getting really good at tennis (so addictive) and getting a ridiculous amount of sleep (16 hrs last night after 4 straight nights of 4-6 hrs of sleep)

Was wondering if anyone can give me some good titles to buy for the wii and a brief explanation of why the games good if possible. (especially Zelda)

OK heres my recent sharkscope, I ran 20 $11 HU SnG's this morning and pulled a nice profit, although I could have won a few more bi's if it weren't for suckouts, standard variance, w/e. I did run better than my last session which was nice.

(45 games played since my last graph, +150)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/2005e5212fdb66d7c065b2b9b59d1c9f.jpg

I'm going to run $11 HU SnG's until I have $840 and move up to the $23 level

Ever since switching to sng's, i've been pulling a nice profit everyday with very little or no stress while playing, its just as good as fr imo, which I'll still play when I just wanna nit it up.

I'd also like to say that I got a little out of line with my last post to crownroyal, I over-reacted at him, hes been stabbin at me for a while and I was in a really pissy mood and just wrote up a retarded blog on how hes a retard, but hes a person and deserves respect, so i'll do my best to lay off.

Ryan

Phew by Luna_Bluffgood, January 23

I invested 400$ in tournaments yesterday (which unfortunately by now is 10% of my bankroll) and I just ran so horrible. I bought into like 20 tournies and didnt cash once until the last few. Luckily I ran good in a 22$ 180man and shipped it for 1080$, which netted me 700$ for the day, which is nice.

After my awful start in the year, where i tried multitabling 1/2 FR, and ran -14bb/100 over 6k hands, I sort of revcovered a bit. I moved down to NL100 to rebuild some confidence and won a few BIs. Then I did another tourney day, ran quite good and netted 400$. Moved back up to NL200 (following a 20 BI rule now, it's pretty aggressive but I've gone my whole poker life bankrollnitting it up and I have gained nothing from it. I dont have any fear of going broke, because I have no problem whatsoever to move down).

Anyway I'm back up to nl200 and it's working.

Goal for the year:

Get 20k bankroll
Get Supernova
Have a +10k tournament score
Attend an EPT

Thx for listening

- Simon

Frustrated by Night2o1, January 23

Gladly myth is going to hook me up with a leakfinders video (I guess I should shill for CR a bit now Go CR yo!). I am getting a bit frustrated with an extended bit of run-like-shit I'm going through. It is showing in my play a bit so I need to put a clamp down on that. I still have a couple of days to get my damn 2k month like I so desire..

I should probably start playing during the day, because Cakepoker's low traffic makes the games really ridiculous at night. There are nothing but regs at the tables and its like trying to squeeze water from a fuckin rock.

Not sure what's going on with the massive redirection of my red line LOL. I will keep an eye on myself and make sure I'm not going crazy or anything. I've been putting in some squeezes is the biggest difference.. only thing I can do to get a penny out of these toolbags.

Craigslist Poker by vegable, January 23

Since I'm fairly new to the city of Seattle, I decided to get some real life poker-related activities going. an ad was posted up on craigslist about a game minutes away from campus, spreading omaha, razz, and other games. So needless to say I was pretty pumped about this. Prior to tonight (hold'em night) I met this dude in class that was playing on stars and invited him to come with; he didn't pick up. It was pretty scary walking to the house at night past a graveyard...brrr...

It was a nice and comfy house that held ~17 players, spread across 2 tables. It was a $20 rebuy tourney with 10k stacks. Only one person had re-bought (mom running the house, rest were all guys). It was weird how I was the only Chinese guy there and everyone else caucasian. I had forgotten how fucking wicked live poker was yo

So the beginning was pretty uneventful. I had built the image of a nitty maniac and got a huge fish to stack off against some nice lines. It was almost magical. I was getting the money in as setups or 60/40 70/30 favorites and won 9/10 flips. Did not get sucked out on ONCE!!! Wow. Imagine if online poker was that honest. also ran super good preflop.

The game was pretty...soft. I think a 25NL veteran could have taken it down. Vs me they just had no chance lol. SO since tourneys only require you to run good, I knowcked out about 6 people after a 4 hour game, which didn't even seem that long. 4 places paid & I got first for a $158 prize.

Tipped the host a fiver and since busses didn't run after 11, I had to call a cab toget home. -$33 FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Got intercepted by two cops because I was lookin suspicious outside some store waiting. Must have been the gangsta white tree design jacket.

and most amazingly, ther ewas one dude who I SWEaR LOOKS LIKE VITaL[MYTH] its fucking insane. he had the EXaCT same mannerisms, facial structure but with bigger cheeks, dare I say it, same nationality. But he checked down top set JJJ 3 sts & thought what a shame. He seemed pretty bright too talking about renewable resources n shit.

anyway fun night, got home at 1am. Peaces

More swings than a playground by RICHI8, January 23

All I can say is: Wow, what a day. It was my day off so I logged a lil over 3k hands in NL25. I felt liked I played great, although I cannot lie, I did tilt on some occasions. However, I would like to thank Uptown, TalentedTom, and Exhilirate for posting a ton of hands and also replying to some of mine to keep my mind preoccupied while I was running like shat.

My day today was in 3 sessions. A morning session where I ended up down ~$115. Then I won it all back in a session after I went to the gym. Then I ate dinner and lost it all the way down to -$150. Then I won all of that back. Overall I ended up the day +$16. I wish I had PT3 so I could see a graph of my expectation.

I've been watching videos on deucescracked and trying to get in on some discussion on here as well as "4" (as bigred0000 likes to say). Overall I think it's really helping my game and I feel like it's only a matter of time until I am crushing NL25.

I'd post hands of how bad I ran but I'm sure most of you have seen it all so it's nothing impressive. Here's my graph for the day:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/7ee28599032ef15c3f31d64b8dd1dcea.jpg

Overall I'm very pleased that I ended up +$15 with how I ran. I know I still have leaks, but they are getting plugged on by one.

nl25 by Remod, January 23

I finally took shot at nl25, I pulled an allnighter, 6.5 hours, 4k hands.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/891ea581e77b7f346e3492946701d812.jpg

its seems much easyer than nl10 and a hell of a lot more interesting.

any advice/critic/comment on graph and stats is appreciated!

btw. anyone watches world handball championship?? thoughts, predictions? france or croatia?

[NL25] shot Day 2 by Uptown, January 23

Played 2 sessions today: the first shortly after waking up (which I'm trying to make a routine of), the 2nd in the late afternoon - early evening. Totaled to 6.5 hours at 3.4k hands. Thanks to Night for spanking my ass into gear in an earlier blog maybe? Moderately swingy day overall, where I'd often stack someone then get stacked a few hands later, repeat at least 5x.

Idk why but I was really nitty today (even more than usual if you can imagine that), playing something like 12/9/5.5 with only about a 18% steal rate. I 'think' it was b/c I seemed to end up to the right of loose players who I was disinclined to steal against... or just variance. Hmm, looked at positional stats just now, really dont like the ratios I have from UTG to BU, but hmmm... yea I dont think I can really look at these numbers in a vacuum esp in the short term.

Leaks
* Picking good spots to cbet
* Hand Selection against stationy players, esp BvB
* Fold marginal hands to resistance
* Vbet stronger on every street

Had some really great discussions on the last leak today in my hand history threads: one two three.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in with advice in my hands today . It felt great to get the tough lovin'. The vbet sizing and pot building was a leak I 'thought' I fixed, but you guys made it clear that there's still a lottttt I can improve on in this area! Shoutout especially to Muhweli, Into Infinity, and Artanis for thourough pointers <3.

*drumroll*

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/0ea6f3949c4770570c15b6ecbc33ee6f.jpg

Cheers~

edit: oh yea, I have 1K vpps this month, gonna get silverstar whoo~
